Hi- this is a long stretch but I am the daughter of Sheila Ann Marie(Ivey)married Burger, daughter of Ann Marie Conley and sister of John Machete. We have been looking for J.D Ivey for years and hoping for answers. I noticed you had contact with my aunt Freda. I was hoping to see if this was real and figure out a long secret in our family. Please contact me at klnburger@gmail.com. If this is true so many questions can be answered if you are my grandfather. Please this is a huge deal to my family and we would like some answers on our heritage.

Is your Isaiah Ivy the one who died 4 January (1849 or 1869 it's hard to read). I have copies of 11 pages from the Texas General Land Office about his headright of 640 acres. His Headright was granted in Nacogdoches County in 1850. It states that the Administratix of his estate was Mary Ivy. It also mentions Wood County and Sabine County. My John Ivy (1805-1865) came to Texas in 1837 and I was hoping to find a relationship to Isaiah but so far have found none. If you would like a copy of these pages, I will be happy to send them to you. Carolyn Ivy

P.S. This is an odd error on the part of ancestry. "B Snodgrass" is not living with this couple in 1860. B is not 75, B was not born in NC. B is not even living in Jackson County at this time as far as we know. We don't even know that B is living at all!

What the census image actually states is that Charles Ivy was "Agent of B Snodgrass" at this time, but that is stricken out. It was Charles who was 75, and born in NC. Whoever transcribed the census image, made a big old goof up here.

Hello,
I'm helping a friend research his Ivy family from Jackson County, Alabama. So far, I have Charles and Margaret as the parents of Jarret J. Ivy. (My friend is descended from Lorenzo D. Ivy). I found the information from someone else on ancestry.com and am trying to confirm with documented sources.

The 1850 Alabama census puts Charles and Montgomery Ivy (the two youngest of this large family) in the house with Charles and Margaret Ivy. And, in 1860, Charles and Margaret have a "B Snodgrass" in their household who is 75 years old (as is Charles). Perhaps Margaret's maiden name is Snodgrass ???

Hope this helps!

Long time since your post, but I'll hope you are still out there or someone else that knows something.

Edmonia Smith was living with Nathan M. and Martha Ivy in Ripley County, MO, 1880. She is listed as "niece". Do you know how she is related? I am following a difficult Smith line that I know was in the area and am finding out as much as I can about them.

Gail, where did you get Mary's maiden name as WARD ?

If you check the 1860 census, you will find Fielding Ivey age 45 with some other children born between 1850 and 1860. One of these I've identified as that Conway Crampton Ivey 1852-1921 who died in Jefferson County, MO.

On his death cert, the mother's name is stated as "Nancy Dudley". So I suggest that this Nancy is Fielding's second wife and that Mary, who is yet living on the 1870 census is actually Fielding's THIRD wife.

I have found a neat website. Wayne County Cemeteries

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wcmc/index....

There are pictures here of Miles Cemetery where your ancestor Fielding Hudson Ivy is buried. Fielding's daughter by his second marriage to Mary Elizabeth Ward, Mary Elizabeth Ivy Brown and her husband James are also buried in Miles.

There are also pictures of the Doney Cemetery where Sarah Elizabeth Ivy Doney, her husband Lysander Doney and some of their children are buried. According to her death certificate Rhoda Ann Dudley Ivy, widow Of Thomas Ivy,is also buried in Doney. Thomas Ivy was the son of Fielding's FIRST marriage to Cynthia Mathes. Rhoda Ann Dudley was the sister of your Crampton Conway Ivy's mother, Nancy Dudley (Fielding Hudson's third wife).

Warning: the pictures of the stones will take some time to download.

Gail

I am looking for information on James M. Ivy who married Mary Richards or Richardson 18 May 1834 in Perry County Indiana. They had 2 children that I know of Elizabeth Ivy born about 1847 and William H Ivy born about 1849. Any information would be very helpful. I believe James died before 1850 since Mary remarried to a John Chambers by the 1850 census and lived in Clay township, Pike County, Indiana.

You guys are so great... that was so quick- i didn't expect such an outpouring- I'm at work and I'm just in shock and thanking God for you all. You have to understand that my mom and her sister dug for this info years ago!! ok YES this is my family. Fern is my great grandmother. Joseph Hille was the stepfather. My grandpa was raised as a Hille and all his records were in that name until finally before he was to be married (age 18ish), his biological father's family intervened and told him the truth. My great grandma Fern died in 52 in Springfield MO of TB in a sanitarium which may have impact on where her records are. I've linked Chester and the Dunnigan side with the death cert, too.

James Isaiah Ivy, 1896, MS

Found this in the US Native American Application for Enrollment in the Five Civilized Tribes, 9 Sep 1896:

Several affidavits re: application of James Isaiah Ivy, Lorenza Price Ivy and Arthur Sidney Ivy (siblings) for enrollment in the Chickasaw nation.

Their story was that their grandfather Isaiah Ivy left MS around 1831 with his tribe and got sick and died near Black River, AR. Their father Lorenzo Dow Ivy corroborated their story, but the request was denied.

I'm not sure if these persons are related to me but I thought someone might be able to use this. I hope I did the category right; it seemed the closest thing on there.

I hope you don't mind some further questions?? :):) My records don't include any information on the descendants of Crampton Conway and Effie. Your great grandparents were Norvil Gibson and Fern Dunnigan, correct?? Fern married Norvil 1 July 1933 at Hillsboro, Jefferson County, Missouri. Norvil died 10 November, 1935 in Jefferson County. Mrs. Fern Gibson married Joseph Hille 02 June 1936 Festus, Jefferson County, MO. Was Joseph Hille the stepfather who raised your grandfather? Was your great grandmother the Fern Hille who died September 1952 in Lawrence County, MO?? I can't access this death certificate. There seems to be something wrong with the file!
Gail
