my fathers grandfather arrived from spain to puerto rico our last name is Izquierdo however i am afraid i do not have much information, i never heard that anyone in the family moved to mexico.

Im French, living in France. My 3rd great grangfather was an Izquierdo born in Corozal in 1835. My direct ancestors' names were :(Y)IZQUIERDO, SERRANO, RABELL (REBELL, REVEL...), DE SALAS, OSORIO...
The oldest I found were Gregorio Yzquierdo married in Campeche, Mexico with Isabel de Salas in 1755 (but born in Canarian Isles)
and Esteban de Salas married with Maria Perez. Where? They had their first child in 1714.
Is there a possible connection?

Sorry I can't help you with your query, Please can you help me with mine.
My ancesters were spanish, Cristobal Barco, and his son Antonio Barco. They were based i louisiana in Mexician Betallion 1794/95. Would you know where I would get a list of that battilion or and history on Cristobel and Antonio. I believe they were from Granada Spain, but I can't find anything on them. Can you help. My grandfather was Ricardo Izquierdo Estevez, who had 2 sisters, Catalina and Luisa. Although born in Cuba in 1882, he was a Spanish citizen. His father was Ignacio Izquierdo Aragon from Salas de los Infantes in Spain who was a captain in the Spanish army in Cuba.

My dad is Jorge Izquierdo Martinez and he was from a small town in Mexico, Iturbide which was primarily Spanish. He and his brother Orencio Izquierdo Martinez Immigrated to the United States (Texas) in 1954.

I am another Izquierdo but i come from Bejucal , Cuba. My Grandfather's Great Great Great Grandfather or something like that , came over from Spain with the Sainta Madia . Im glad that my and our name has spread . Im glad that our name will be spread though out the world and time , we were the Second or Left (Izquierdo = Left ) hand son of a king in the early years of Spain . Hello, my great-grandmother, Dolores Isquierdo, went to the Philippines when she was 16, brought over by her father, Paca. She was the youngest daughter. I believe that they originally lived in Seville or Cadiz. Dolores went on to marry Quaquin Romero in the Philippines, and had seven children.

I am trying to locate any relatives that might still be in around. I know that my grandmother saw some relatives in Spain in the 1950s, but I don't know what city she visited.

Nicanor Viñas Cabeza, nació en Andavias, provincia de Zamora, España. El pueblo esta situado aproximadamente a 16kms de Zamora, la capital de provincia. Es un pueblo agrícola y ganadero en su totalidad, se halla junto al embalse del río Esla, afluente del río Duero. Nicanor era de oficio agricultor – Señas: raza blanca, de cabello negro y ojos pardos, estatura 1m 582 centímetros, llevaba aire marcial; fue muy buen trabajador. Partió del puerto de Cádiz, España en el barco de correo “Antonio López” el 30 de agosto de 18__. Iba destinado a Cuba, pero en el viaje le fue tan mal, que desembarco en Puerto Rico el 13 de septiembre con el Batallón de Infantería de Valladolid y allí quedó. Se separó del ejercito en 1875, y nunca volvió a España.

Datos recopilados de los libros parroquiales por el Reverendo José Maria Casado Salvador quien es párroco de dos parroquias una en Andavias y la otra en La Hiniesta, Zamora, España.
--1845 – nace Nicanor Viñas Cabezas, el 10 de enero, hijo mayor de mis bisabuelos Don Lorenzo Viñas y Doña Ramona Cabezas.

She was married to my great grandfather Jesus Cervantes Ochoa, born 7/25/1899 in Tanhuato de guerrero, michoacan de ocampo, Mexico, and died 7/2/1997 in Wilmington, California. I just recently formed an interest in learning more about the origins of the Izquierdo name. It seems like after our elders pass on, the interest forms and we dont take advantage of learning the knowledge that our elders had of the Izquierdo family origin. My grandfather was from a small village in Guanajuato, Mexico, born in the early 1900's. Either his father or grandfather came from Spain. My grandfather came to Southern California in the 1930's. He was a leader in the United Farm Workers Union (UFW) and worked under Cesar Chavez. I find it fascinating reading about other Izquierdo's in different parts of the country and world knowing that we all come from the same roots in Spain. I'm from an Izquierdo family from the island of Puerto Rico. A big family. Even thou my father was an only son he wanted to have many children and he did(12). Of what we know about our last name is that it comes from Spain and Portugal and is only one branch, one roots of Izquierdo's. There are not so many and it said that in one way or another there is a blood connection among them all. I got a copy of a book from Spain that talk about the jews holocaust and it have a list of the name of the people that die from the holocaust. In there I find that many izquierdos die because they didn't want to denied their faith and religious believed as jews(I don't know the real connection about it) but it is interesting. In my family we are always looking for Izquierdos because we consider them all like family, like there is a conection. Just because the fact that is only one root of the family and that it came from Spain to the new world . But what we know ,we got it from one of my older brother. He pay for a research of the family name. Any how is good to know that there are many Izquierdo out there. My family live in NJ. My husband and I always dream to go to Spain to know my root and because Spain is the Homeland of P.R.

I don't know how old you are, but in 1942, three Izquierdo children, Jose, Manuel and Lucia, refugees from The Spanish Civil War, came to the U.S.

I don't know what part of Spain those three children were from.They are on a list of Spanish refugees that came to the U.S. in the summer of 1942. I'm in the process of researching the whereabouts of all those children now.

They are probably not the same Izquierdos. These children, I believe, went to France at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, and were brought to the U.S. in 1942. They were probably in their early teens by then, with Lucia being the youngest.I'll try to find out from what part of Spain they were...

My mom's father was killed in the Spanish Civil War...my mom was 11 I believe at the time. She was on the run for a while with her tios, mother, brother...I know they had to go south for a while where my grandfather is buried. I'll talk to her tomorrow. I'll ask my mom. From what towns where they from? My mom was a little girl when her father was killed in the war. She is 78 years old. I know her brother is still alive in Asturias and has cousins I believe in Zamora. Are these people you mentioned still alive here in the USA? Thanks so much for contacting me.

After a divorce she moved from Miami to New York then to
Puerto Rico were she died in 1981 .
Her Brothers and Sisters lived in Venezuela ,
Mexico City and Puerto Rico .

Hola Raúl, Mi anuelo era cubano de padres españoles y vino a vivir a la República Dominicana, donde vivió hasta hace 3 años. Su nombre era Francisco y aún tiene una hermana en Cuba, y un hermano que vive aquí en Dominicana.
