Looking for other relatives of George Overton "Geo" Jackson 1882-1948

Hi, I'm looking for any other relatives or descendants of George O. Jackson. He was born in Georgia (prob. in Greene County) in 1882, and died in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1948. His first wife was named Sara Blanche Arthur, and they had 5 kids (that I know of), one of whom was my grandmother. They lived in Athens, GA where he was a streetcar conductor. Sara Blanche died in 1924, and then sometime before 1930, George remarried a lady named Eunie (possibly Enna). Sometime before 1945, they moved to Florida. I believe Eunie and George had at least one child, and I've also heard that at least one of George and Sara Blanche's kids moved to Florida.
If it helps any, George's parents were Andrew F. Jackson and Adeline O'Neal.
Thanks

Mar. 16, 1919 near Pana Illinois. He went by the name of Ed and married Ida May Aikins (b. July 25, 1861 and D. March 25 1890) in 1876 and Molly Adams was his second wife. I would REALLY like to be able to trace our family farther than Thomas. Can anyone help at all? Thank you.

Arthur Charles Jackson

I am looking for information for Arthur Charles Jackson b. abt 1860. Parents are Thomas Jackson and Elizabeth Bragg. I have no dates for Thomas or Elizabeth. Arthur emmigrated to Australia prior to 1885. On his marriage certificate in 1885 he has Monmouthshire listed as his place of birth but the only Arthur Jackson I have been able to find on passenger lists of unassisted immigrants that fits the age is for 2 Arthurs who have "native of Staffordshire" listed. I am trying to verify this information as I have been unable to locate Arthur or his parents in Wales. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Jacksons of New Burlington - Greene & Clinton Counties, Ohio

I am researching the Jackson family of New Burlington, Ohio, in the early 1800's. New Burlington, a town that no longer exists, was located where Warren, Clinton and Greene Counties meet. (Particularly Caesars Creek Township, Greene County and Chester Township, Clinton County.) Daniel Jackson married Mary Hurley 23 Dec. 1815, Warren County, Ohio. The marriage license names Mary's father as Cornelius Hurley. Phillip Jackson and his son Samuel Jackson were enumerated in the 1820 census, Caesars Creek Township, Greene County, and Phillip had been a resident of Greene County since 1807. Samuel later settled in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. I cannot locate any census records for Daniel Jackson, Sr. It is probable that he and Mary died young and their children cared for by relatives or other families.

Daniel and Mary Hurley Jackson had a son, Daniel Jackson, Jr., born 10 Sept. 1829 in New Burlington. Daniel Jr. apparently was brought up in Chester Township, Clinton County where he is enumerated as a single man, boarding with the Collett family, in 1850. Cornelius Jackson, born 1822, is also enumerated in Chester Township in 1850 and I believe he is Daniel Jr.'s brother. Daniel Jr. settled in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, by 1853, when he married Harriet Weaver; he died in Wayne Township, Tippecanoe County, in 1903 and is buried in West Point Cemetery. Cornelius Jackson married Elizabeth Copsey in 1843 in Clinton County, and migrated first to Benton County, Indiana, (1860), Warren County, Indiana (1880) and finally to Cherokee County, Kansas, where he died in 1897 and is buried in Columbus City Cemetery. Both Daniel Jr. and Cornelius had large families.

Both Daniel Jr. and Cornelius state their parents are born in Ohio on the cenuses; also note that Mary Hurley's sister Nancy married Hezikiah Copsey who may be related to Cornelius' wife Elizabeth.

As I seek this Jackson family's origins, I note there are other Jackson families in the Clinton County/Greene County area, pre 1850, notably John Jackson and William Jackson. I do not know if these two are related to the other Jacksons. There is also another Jackson family of eastern Clainton County that is not related. I would like to correspond with anyone researching the Jacksons of New Burlington.

Tom (William Thomas) Jackson is my g-grandfather. He was married to Mary Ann Nickell. They had my grandfather, William Isaac Jackson and his brother, John Washington Jackson. But she was struck by lightning doing the family wash in a creek in Wise County, Texas. Tom left the boys with his in-laws and went to Washington with his father. But he returned, eventually remarried and had other children. He died in Wellington, Collingsworth, Texas in 1918. I would love to know more about that trip to Washington and his return. Some of the Nickell's went as well. A Nickel child is supposed to be the first child born in Okanagan (hope I spelled that right) County, Washington. Also her mother the first white woman buried there. At least as far as family stories go.

Alta Jackson Rowell

I am researching the ancestry of George Cessna Jackson (1797-1856) who is the son of a Samuel Jackson (mother's first name is Nancy, possibly Nancy Cessna). A Samuel Jackson married a Nancy Cessna in Nelson County (west of the Danville area) and reports being born in Muhlenberg, living in Daviess, and death in Muhlenberg (McClean was part of Muhlenberg County). These areas are not far from Hartford. Any information on whether this Samuel Jackson is the son of Christopher Maccabeus would be appreciated.

Although it was not an uncommon practice, the use of names from the classics was picked up again in George Cessna Jackson's grandson--middle name of "Cicero", next generation middle name of "Alexander" and that generation lived in Daviess County Kentucky at "Cleopatra."

Oh no, its much simpler than that. Y chromosone is passed from father to son unchanged except for mutations that occur over time. Therefore if you and I shared a common male ancestor then our analysis would look very similar. They usually look at 40-60 markers now, so we would only have a few markers that were not identical (the mutations) and those would only be off a little.

As far as how you would have to donate a sample, you just swab the inside of your cheek with a cotton swab, seal in and mail it back in. Thats very simple.

Now how would I know what Andrew Jackson's yDNA was? I have to test the yDNA of a known ancestor of Andrew Jackson.

Of course, if there was an "indiscretion" along the way (non-marital father) then this would show up.

Hello there,

I'm curious on exactly on how the process works? Because how did they get the DNA from burials or find you ancestors. Do they did dig up the body in order to get the DNA results? Like Pres. Andrew Jackson? Does our DNA proves the connection to him? What happens in between family that had died. Do they dig up those bodies too in order to get the DNA? Let me know how it works? I know there is a video or something shows exactly on how is done.

Thanks for any input.
Don't mean to be repetitive but does anyone have any yDNA testing results for known descendants. My line is haplogroup I1a. There are Texan Jacksons who track ancestors thru Ga, Ala to Texas who match me fairly closely but we haven't found the common ancestor yet. I would urge anyone serious about proving their family genealogy to get yDNA testing done and share the results thru the testing databases.

Yes the Jacksons from Chester were quakers who came to Wrightsboro GA and moved west from there. I believe that I have seen documentation on a Benjamin Jackson with wife Susannah who lived in Wilkinson County Ga at the time of his death. There is a lot of documentation on a Benjamin Jackson who lived in Hancock Co Georgia and whose death dates is listed as 1797. This one is often connected with the Benjamin you mentioned but Wilkinson Co. did not exist before 1805 so it is unlikely to be the same one as spouse of Susannah.

Thank you for your reply. I am enclosing my personal email address. If you will contact me there, I will send you a copy of the full page newspaper article that was written by my great, great grandmother around 1924 in which she made the claim regarding the connection between her husband and Andrew Jackson. It is quite an interesting article. mjbell522@msn.com.

You have mentioned Alfred Tennyson and Richard Hildyard, what is the line connection here?

Well, RICHARD HILDYARD b.1532, Winestead, Holderness, Yorkshire, England, d. 1602,Routh, Killingswold, Yorkshire, England. He married JANE THWENGE. She was b. 1536, Weaverthorpe, ,Yorkshire, England. They had a dau. named Ursula Hildyard b. 1577, Beverly,, Yorkshire, England, d. Beverly,, Yorkshire, England. She married Sir Richard Jackson. He was b. 24 May 1571, Killingsgrave, ,Yorkshire, England, d. Jun 1613, Bishop Burton Parish, ,Yorkshire, England. Their son Anthony Jackson II is the gr. gr. grandfather of Pres. Andrew Jackson. I don't know the connection though. This was mentioned by Deborah Jackson who married Rev. Robert McGintry back in 1770's.

I will search for more clues here. Keep in touch.
Thanks for you message,

Brad Sydnor

Hello there,

Sorry for a very late reply. I was working on all the Jackson in U.S. that are related the three major lines. Pres. Andrew Jackson, Stonewall Jackson and third would be Anthony Jackson II because these three shows the major lineages of the Jackson Family. Not yet all three has been connected. Many hisroians, experts and etc. have not been able to find the connections. I also found interestingly enough that there were many descendants had came forward like yourself claimed that somehow you related to Pres. Andrew Jackson. These accounts were mentioned back to the time when these Jackson's witness claimed to be related to these famous people. In those days I'm sure they were telling the truth compares today's world. Today people are looking for fame rather than the real honest truth. We need to take it as an accurate of this.
Your infomation may shows some light and yet I don't have the connection yet. I do have a lot of Samuels on my list but none of them seems to fit the time frame you have given. However, I do have some has gone to Alabama and thru Texas. This is a good sign and reassuring that there is something more we can go on. I will look into this even more and hope to shed some light for you. Please check on on the brothers and sisters too because this can lead back to their parents and will help to find all the data of these people even better.

I do need to ask you about on how did you derived that your ancestors had a connection with Pres. Andrew Jackson?

Thanks for posting your message,

Brad Sydnor

Hello there,

I have a Benjamin Jackson b. 1750, Chester County, Pennsylvania, d. 15 Mar 1805, in Hancock County, Georgia. He had married Susannah (no last name). Bu their parents were Benjamin Jackson and Elizabeth Clark. What's got my intention was your Bejamin Jackson did go to Georgia? Is it possible this could be the same one? But the father was Moses? I don't have any name with Moses though? Just the thought. I will keep looking thanks,

Brad Sydnor

Thank anyway. I find it facinating that you have the older generattions, working downward. Most of us have it the other way around.. In this family, it seems like what is missing is the middle generations. Someone one out there must have it tucked away somewhere. At least I hope someone does!

Gwen

Yes it is confusing- I had a lot of trouble trying to figure it out- but the wedding certificate clarified it for me- I am looking for Esther Elenor Aylett- father Walter Philip aylett mother Frances Elizabeth Mary Preston Aylett. My Esther was 17 years old March 23, 1922 when she married Louis George Jackson. Another interesting fact is that there is a third Esther Aylett born in 1905 to Samuel John Aylett and mary Jane McClure- and married a Tasman Snowball and is buried in Tasmania- I am guessing that the are somehow all related - melody

Hi Melody,
James was born in Yass, NSW. This would be his birth
18371/1868 JACKSON JAMES D (f)ROBERT (m)SARAH M at YASS
You can look further yourself at
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm

The DFORD I suspect is in VIC and see you have reposted for that. I am sure someone will get back to you shortly.

Will see what I can find for the Aylett issue...although reposting asking for a death for her on the VIC Board may help.

Kellie
