Interested in whether you have any connection
to Jakob's in Rapperswil or Dieterswil. I have
relatives back to mid 1500's in these two communities.
I visited recently and some of the towns you
mention seem familiar. My tree is online at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ricksmith/index.htm
Just click Jakob and you will find your way to my
WorldConnect postings. FYI my ggrandmother was Rosa Jakob
but married to a Gottfried Jakob. I also have a couple
Jakob Jakob's in my ancestor line.

I am trying to trace my family roots and was told my grandfather's (Frederick Ernest Todd/Nicholson)mother's maiden name was either Jakob or Jakobs. I do not know her first name but was wondering if anyone can trace a Jakob/Nicholson or Todd tree. I know this is a tough one but any help would be appreciated. My grandfather emigrated from Ireland or England in the 1890s to New Jersey in the USA.

Jakob family

Yes, I have more on the family. Some of the pedigree is, undoubtedly, I bit hypothetical still, but further research will harden the facts, I guess. My greatgrandmother was a Jakob from Langnau. If I have reconstructed both our families correctly, we both are descendants of Jakob JAKOB, born abt 1515 at Lauperswil in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland. The latest common ancestor would be Gilgen JAKOB, b.Aug 1606, married to Anna DAELLENBACH. They had 10 children, amoung them Benedikt b. 1639, your ancester, and Christen, b. 1664, my ancestor. I'm born in 1943, living in Basel, Switzerland. the Luedis are from Heimiswil, Bern; our branch goes back to Konrad LUEDI, b. abot 1546,
Happy new year!
Georges
If you want a GEDCOM file, drop me an email at: Georges.Luedi@ubaclu.unibas.ch
