Hi, and my apologies for posting to more than one board but I have a possibility that one person is known by at least 3 different last names.
I am looking for anyone with connections to Merton and Kirtlington in Oxfordshire around 1800-1850.
We have a wedding of a William JEFFERIES and Elizabeth Hayward 1803 Kirtlington. A William JEFFERS is bapt 1
April 1804 to said couple, and this all fits the census apart from the last name.
William JUFFS on the 1851 census is married to Elizabeth, and we think she may be Elizabeth Stanbridge born in Bicester 1825, she was bapt 24 Aug 1806 in Bicester to John and Sarah Stanbridge. This Bicester link fits with what the census says.

To go from Juffs to Jeffes/ Jeffers is no big deal, but I am not at all sure about the Jefferies link.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Does anyone have any information re: James Jeffers. He would have been born in approximately 1810. He married Sarah Jane Keller (1810-1862). They had a son named William (1834-1905) More than likely, they would have lived in Hawkins or Greene Co. in Tennessee.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

I need some help. I have in my posession a photo album dated at least 1865 and my guess from 1870's to 1890's. I will share what is written in the album and hopefully someone can connect the dots. Some photos are missing but there are names where the photos once belonged as well as names with the photos that are present. I am only giving the names as there are photos with no names attached.

The photo album book is roughly 3.5" x 5" x 1" thick with heavy cover and metal clasp. Inside one of the covers has a name

My fathers name is Lesley
My Grandfather Is Milton he had a brother named Elmer,Sam and Charles and I think a sister.

My great gandfathers name was Franklin A. Jeffers and his wife was Myrtly (Dehl?) Jeffers.

I am researching the connection between my ancestors and the other Jeffers I find in Fowler and Rossie in the 1850s. I have a marriage certificate that states my ancestor William Hiram Jeffers married Mariah St. John in Fowler, 8 Dec. 1851.

William was the son of James Jeffers (Jeffryes, Jeffries, etc.) and Nancy (or Polly) Foote, both coming from England, but their residence in NY is unknown.

Seeking information about a Jesse Jeffers of northern Arkansas from a time period after the Civil war... Apparently he had a wife and several children and other family (brothers), there but went to northern Missouri and took on another wife who bore a son, Lee Jeffers. This second marriage was dissolved, and she remarried and had other children. Jeffers returned to his first wife and family in northern Arkansas. At least as far back as the late 1800's, there has been a spelling that includes an I (Jeffiers). This is as far as I have gotten: Richard E. and Sarah F. (Case) Jeffiers, born somewhere between probabably 1850 and 1870. They lived in Kentucky, possibly in MO or PA prior to that.

DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Edmund J. Jeffers, 23, of Daleville, Ala., died Sept. 19 in Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related accident. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.

The circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation.

Hi. My Great Grandmother's name was Ann Jeffers-Scully (Born approx 1872)from County Mayo. She apparently had two sisters named Margaret & Bridget Jeffers who emmigrated to the United States and lived in Brooklyn NY. These two sisters sponsored many Jeffers coming over to the United States. Some of these people included; James Jeffers (born 1902) and Maggie Jeffers (born 1900)both from Thornhill Kiltimagh County Mayo Ireland.

I'm searching for birth information about John Jeffers. According to various census details he was born in Litherland / Bootle/ Orrell / Liverpool - all in Lancashire, UK about 1855. According to his marriage certificate, his father's name was Patrick Jeffers. This is confirmed by earlier census details where he is living with father Patrick, and mother Sarah. I have the marriage certificate of Patrick Jeffers and Sarah Burns in Liverpool in 1854. Although census records show 2 John Jeffers in Liverpool born around 1855, I can find no trace of a birth entry for John around 1855. The only 2 I can find is one in Settle in 1855 (wrong parents) and one in Liverpool in 1858 (wrong parents again). Any suggestions please?

In the 1870 census, Harford, Susquehanna Co., PA under Watson and Betsey Oakley Jeffers there is an 11-year-old girl named Della Jeffers. She was born about 1859 but Watson and Betsey weren't married until the mid-1860s. Does anyone know whose child she is and what her relationship was to Watson and Betsey?

My mother's mother was Vera Jeffers. She married Harry Tyrrell. They lived in the Newville or Parsborough area of Nova Scotia. Her brother's name was Cecil and,Cecil's daughter's names were Eunice and (I think) Bernice. I think I knew Eunice in high school (Infian Head, Saskatchewan) but was unaware of the connection at the time. Does anyone know of this Jeffers connection?

Serena Adele Wells was born 6-13-1903, in St. Louis area, or maybe even NY. S. S. records show her death as Jan. 1992. Her parents were Samuel A. Wells/Julia Thomme. She was also married to Joe Strom.

Also, his son Daniel Jeffords (name change here) (d. 18 Dec 1794) married 1st to Judith Bona, then to Mary King who was b. 20 Sep 1708.

This Daniel Jeffords and Mary King had a son named Samuel J. King Jeffords who married Sarah Susannah Severance.

One point here is there was a name change from Jeffers to Jeffords.

I have an old new england jeffers family that is supposedly connected to the Hanging Judge Jeffrey. I have read on a website that the name was origionally jeffrey and it was changed in the 1700's or late 1600's.

The earliest Jeffers I have is Joseph Jeffers born about 1742 . HIs father Benjamin "Jeffrey" went to Boston to collect his belongings. Joseph died on the ship "the boston packet" of Smallpox

Joseph had three children that I know of and two marrages. First marrage was Dorcas Amos. Second marrage was Ruhama Downing. Joseph Sr and both of his wives apparently died of smallpox.

One son Joseph was fostered in Mass. and eventually moved to Lewis County NY and died in Jefferson county NY. This is my branch.

A son George jeffers moved to NJ and married Martha "Patty" Nicholson. Their son John E. Jeffers was the father of Commodore William N. Jeffers who was briefly Commanding Officer of USS Monitor 1862 and was later Chief of the Bureau of Ordnance.

There was another son Nathan Jeffers who lived in Rush, Ontario, New York. Some of their children moved to Athens, OH.

ANy information on this family history would be appreciated.

Bernard "Jeff" Jeffers, 91, a 53-year Moses Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005. Interment will be in Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories.

Bernard was born on July 31, 1914 in Hartline, the son of the late Louis E. and Alice E. (Mills) Jeffers. Bernard Louis "Jeff" Jeffers and Julia Grubrsich married on May 17,1944 in Seattle. They briefly made their home in Seattle before moving to San Diego, while he was serving in the U.S. Marines. Following his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, they purchased a farm in Ellensburg and continued farming there until moving to make their home in Moses Lake in 1953. They owned and operated "Jeff's Lawnmower and Tool Service" in Moses Lake, where they have since continued to make their home.

He is survived by three children: Lois Jae Smith, Baggs, Wyo., Patricia Ann Thoren, Moses Lake and Patrick Michael "Mike" Jeffers, Dayton; six grandchildren: Debbie Rodewald, Craig, Colo., Claudia Fyock, Denver, Colo., Douglas Smith, Baggs, Wyo., Beth Shorma, Baggs, Wyo., James Fletcher, Moses Lake, Devin Jeffers, Dayton; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

STARKE-Robert "Bobby" Jerome Jeffers Jr., 44, of Starke died Saturday, Nov.
12, 2005, in Gainesville.
Born in Birmingham, Ala., Mr. Jeffers moved to Starke from Bartow. He was an
auto mechanic and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Jeffers is survived by: his former wife Faye Jeffers of Starke; two daughters,
Angela Huffman of Crystal Springs and Sonya Jones of Jacksonville; two step-
daughters, Lisa Lunn of Bartow and Cathy Cornett of Raiford; a stepson C.J.
Sumner of Putnam Hall; a brother Mickey Jeffers of High Springs; three sisters,
Connie Carter of Hampton, Cathy Cobb of Starke and Shelly Trahan of Lake City;
and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Bobby Jay Nolan.
Arrangements were under the care of Moring Funeral Home of Melrose.

I was going through a box of old cards and found this obituary and funeral home
card. I am not related to this gentleman and know nothing about his family - I
only found this in a box of things that I was given.

I can send the obituary and card to a family member who claims it and make
copies for others. I am including below most of the text so that Mr. Jeffers
can be recognized.
Note: I have purposely left out the names of the surviving relatives because
they still may be living to protect their privacy.

George Jeffers, electrician, dies at age 70
Services for George P. Jeffers, a retired electrician of the Westinghouse
Electric Corporation will be held at 1pm Tuesday at the Ambrose funeral
establishment, 1328 Sulphur Spring road, Arbutus.
Mr. Jeffers, who was 70, died yesterday at the North Arundel Nursing and
Convalescent Home after a long illness.
He had been associated with Westinghouse for 33 years and retired seven years
ago. Before that he had been an electrician for the Sunpapers for fifteen
years.
A major interest of Mr. Jeffers was boating. For many years until he was forced
to give it up by his last illness he had been a boating instructor for the
Patapsco River Power Squadron. He was past commander of the Belvedere Yacht
Club and an honorary member until his death. He was also an honorary member of
the Magothy Area Golden Age Club and a member of the Lake Shore Democratic Club.
A native of Baltimore, Mr. Jeffers lived in Arbutus for 33 years until he moved
to Glen Burnie, his residence in recent years.
Surviving are his wife ........., to who he was wed nearly 50 years ago, a son,

I have William Chester Jeffers b. 19 May 1878 Hanover, Jo Daviess, Illinois and died 14 Jun 1934 in Jo Daviess County. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover, Illinois.
He was the son of Albert Jeffers and Agness Miller.

He married Mary Hericon. She was born 1879 and died 26 Jun 1919 in Jo Daviess, Illinois. She is also buried in Evergreen Cemetery.

They had Albert Jeffers, Charles F. Jeffers, and Geraldine Jeffers.

I have traced these Jeffers back several generations for anyone interested.

We are the Jeffers clan form Michigan. Our family came from Ireland somewhere in the 1800's. My Great- Grandfather Alfred and sister Harriett and brother Fredrick were all given up for adoption when their mother was dying. Harriett was adopted. Alfred and Fredrick were sent on the orphan train to Michigan. Both were adopted and stayed in touch until death.All our family knows is the family came from Ireland to Boston Mass. The children were taken to the Home for Little Wanderers. Harriett's family kept in touch with my grandparents. found several graves in St. Peter's Cemetary. Samuel, Jr. died Apr.2, 1931; Samuel, Sr. died Sept. 1, 1927; Mary died June 2, 1917; James died Aug. 27, 1927; John died Jan. 1. 1946. John's son William and his wife Josephine Mack Jeffers are also buried at St. Peter's. They have no record of Kathleen/Katherine Ferris being buried at St. Peter's.
