I just read your post, so your attitude about Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings relationship; will make him less of a man because there is a high percentage that he is the father of children that are of African American race. Funny how the Sally Hemmings family was inducted into the Monticello. I just think white people like you and others out their are so bigot that any linkeage of African American heritage will upset you. Whites are so proud of claiming Native American heritage which is a very small percent that actually has Native American blood; maybe the story of Thomas Jefferson would be look at differently if Sally Hemmings was Native American descent not black. There is more of a possible chance of whites having African American blood in them because of Black and White relationships in the past .

I truly think you have a issue that there is an African American link to Thomas Jefferson.I really think your had or having a hard time in your mind like many other whites that Thomas Jefferson had a relation with his Sally Hemmings. To you, is a out right crazy that this Thomas Jefferson children could be of black descent . I just feel if history showed Thomas Jefferson had relations with Native American maybe your attitude would be different; since many whites feel they are of Native American descent ; in reality it false .

My gr gr grandparents were John Rufus Jefferson and Lydia Allman. Their daughter, Daisy Ethel Jefferson married Msrion Yancey Clark and one of their sons was William Brady Clark, my grandfather. I noted you have a photo of Lydia and John Rufus. Could I possibly get a copy? My mother grew up in Jasper, AL and her 80th birthday is coming up. I would love to surprise her with a photo of her gr grandparents! We are planning to visit the East Dora Cemetery this summer so any info you have would be appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Jean Ann Carter
Huntsville, AL

Cool. I didn't think we would ever find anyone.
My husband's line is

Isaac Jefferson born 1792 in Delaware and married Sarah Groves in 1816 in Delaware.

They moved to Kentucky by 1820. They had 6 children: Richard, Thomas, Warrol, Mary, Elizabeth and Ann. Only Thomas married to Louisa Dunaway. They only had two children Isaac Richard and William.

Isaac Richard is my husband's great grandfather. His son Thomas Ulmont Jefferson is his grandfather and his father is Thomas Bradley Jefferson.

Do any of these people sound familiar?

Valerie

Hello. My name is Sandra Kathleen Jefferson. My father is Henry Sanford Jefferson. His parents are William R. Jefferson and Virginia L. Johnson (Jefferson)
From what I can gather in my research on Ancestry he was married before and had one child and perhaps a step child. He left West Virginia for California where he met and married my mother. I was born in October of 1956. He died of a brain aneurysm January 19, 1959. I have supporting documents of his employment in West Virginia, birth and death certificates and pictures. My mother is not very forthcoming with any information but she did tell me that she believed he was married before and possibly had a child. I believe your father could be my brother. I would love to talk to you and learn anything about him you would feel like you could share. This has been a void in my life for many, many years. I am only sorry that it has taken me this long to do the research. Please feel free to contact me via my email at Kikawa8@gmail.com . I would be happy to send you photo copies of all that I have.
With Warmest Regards,
Sandy

Hello. I am not sure if I have already sent you a message if so please forgive a repeat. I am new to Ancestry and trying to learn everything is a little confusing right now. My father, Henry Sanford Jefferson would be your grandfather. He was married before and I believe had a child. I am trying to put together a time line of his movements. At some point he moved out to Los Angeles California and married my mother Donna Marie Jefferson (Williams) and I was born on October 1, 1956. My legal name is Sandra Kathleen Jefferson. I have supporting documents and pictures of him. I have had a very happy and wonderful life. I am married with 6 children of my own. I am not wanting to disrupt anyone or cause any hurt in anyones life. I have always felt I had other family, possibly half siblings etc. I would like very much to know about them or meet them if it is comfortable for them. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. I hope to hear from you.
Sincerely
Sandy

Hello, are any of you still out there? I've just stumbled on this line and I'm trying to find info on a possible Jefferson link in my ancestry. I have Susannah Nichols (b. 1760, d. 1855 in KY) as a ggrandmother, she married John Garland. I see some researchers have linked her as the daughter of Julius Nicholas and Mary Jefferson, but I have no proof to say these are, in fact, her parents. Does anyone have any info on this?

Sparrell JEFFERSON, East End, Pgh, PA

This is from an article in the Vandergrift (PA) News, Monday 15 Aug 1932.
I am entering this verbatim from the article, please forgive any offensive terms.

A colored woman was instantly killed and a companion fatally injured at 11 o'clock last night on North Washington-Camp Joann road (Washington Twp, Westmoreland Co.)when the automovile in which they were riding crashed head-on into another machine drived by Samuel Mannarino, aged 28, of Avonmore.
The dead: Mrs. Louise PLUM, aged 28, colored, of 114 Auburn St, East End, Pittsburgh. Died instantly of a fractured skull. Sparrell Jefferson; aged 27, colored, same address. Lived at 6:50 this morning in Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington, with a compound fracture of the skull.
(paragraph listing those injured in other car)
According to state police who investigated the accident, Jefferson, going toward Pittsburgh, attempted to squeeze between the Mannarino machine and one drived by G. F. Bateman of Salina.
The Jefferson & Mannarion machines crashed head-on and the Bateman car swerved into them, striking a glancing blow.
Mrs. Plum was killed instantly. A passing motorist rushed Jefferson to the New Kensington hospital. Doctors worked throughout the night in a vain attempt to save Jefferson's life.
Police today wre sifting meager details and attempting to place the blame for the fatal smash-up. Conflicting stories told by the occupants of the machines only tended to confuse the real explanation police said.
The Jefferson car was demolished and the Mannarion machine also badly damaged. The Bateman car escaped with a smashed fender.

I'm looking for more information on this Jefferson line: Ruben O. Jefferson of Beaufort,NC "lived entire life in the area"- son Nolen Elwood Jefferson (Sr.) of Beaufort,NC "was a US Marine" - son Nolen Edward Jefferson Jr. born in Beaufort, NC but resident of Chesapeake,VA "possibly adopted by A. Waters family". Nolen is also written as Nolan, Noland, Noelin, and Nolin; I understand Nolen to be correct. I would be appreciative of any additional information on these family members - to secure facts for my blood line.

In order to find his parents & siblings, it's important to establish a definite birth year. Was he African-American? I found this Eugene Jefferson in Amelia Co. in the 1930 census. If this is the correct family, I can work backwards through census records to hopefully find his parents and siblings.

Source Citation: Year: 1930
Census Place: Jackson, Amelia, Virginia
Roll: 2434; Page: 10A; Enumeration District: 4

Eugene Jefferson, 41
Jane Jefferson, 41
Frank J Jefferson, son, 6
Sallie A Jefferson, daughter, 6
Abraham Jefferson, son, 5
Clarence Jefferson, son, 5/12 or 5 ??
Mosod or Mason? Jefferson, son, 1 9/12
Edith M Jefferson, daughter, 2/12
Morrow or Marian? Jefferson, half-sister, 15
Henrieta?
I have a great great uncle by the name of Ned Jefferson. He's my great grandmother's brother. I believe I have a pic of him and he has an uncanny resemblance to President Lincoln. Anyway, if this is the same Ned Jefferson...his parents were Flemming and Betty(Bennett)Jefferson. We think there's a link to President Jefferson's lineage as well. I been searching hard to find info on our family history, but it's extremely hard. Since the Jefferson side of our family kept their family history a secret everything was lost.
I too am an only child Jefferson. I'm just starting the genealogy, but have found my Dad's Great Grandfather (Alexander Jefferson) in Indiana. He had at least 8 sons there, so perhaps there's a link. Alex was born in 1831 in Ireland, but lived in Indiana from about 1859-1904.
Alexander Jefferson born 1831 in Ireland & found in Indiana in the mid 1800's...Married Hannah Bowman in 1865. They lived the rest of their lives in Benton County Indiana I believe. Alex is shown to have died in 1904. I found one document that shows his parents listed as Alexander & Elizabeth "Jaffers" in Ireland, but no further information. He is a key person in my family history because he was the first to come from Ireland & to change the family name. Am looking for someone who can help with information on him, or who is proficient at Ireland genealogy & could direct me to going further back in his Irish family where I hit a dead end.

Michelle Bush, I am the daughter of Emery Franklin Jefferson and Jean Crenshaw, my grandfather was Ed Jefferson, the 3rd child of Thomas Madison Jefferson and Martha Louise Ragsdale-Jefferson, she was the 3rd wife after Mary R. Womack 1stwife and Clarrisa Harris-Norris, his 2nd wife died. Thomas Madison Jefferson, died in Cleveland, Texas and is buried on his farm there. Clarrisa Harris-Norris died by being stomped by a horse on trip I think on way to Texas. We also have been searching for the parents and family members of Thomas M. Jefferson. I started my family tree when I was 18, but did it my reading and writing letters, stopped this for awhile and picked up this message by accident. My address: 1427 Beach-Airport Rd Conroe, Texas 7730l.

I appreciate your response. Your previous reference to Vol XVI, #2, pg 55. There are several pages (54 - 61) that pertain to Peter Field Jefferson and his family. Have you read all of them?

I don't have anything "on paper" as who Henry's father might be. But I have heard some of the rumors mentioned. I am pretty sure Martha "Patsy"'s father's farm and the Davis farm bordered in the early 1800's.

There is an organization called Family Tree DNA (on the net). On my father's side there has been a question for years as who the father of a grandfather+++ (doc'd) born in 1776 was. No one could find a document that could "prove" any connection to any one.

I joined the Family Tree DNA project several years ago. There is a DNA test for males (only??) that can identify family lines based on test results. I purchased the required test kit soon after becoming a participant. A couple months ago, data released by a DNA Specialist who joined a couple of years ago, confirmed a 99%+ connection to an England emigrant to Virginia in the 1600's.

I have tried to find a "Henry Jefferson male" who would agree to the same test. If one were to do this, it could most likely confirm the rumor or "bring up a whole new can of worms". One's test results are compared with every test result in the Family Tree's database (all surnames). Any/all match(s) are sent to the tested individual. There is a Jefferson database which could offer a discounted test price.

Are you related to Henry?
I am glad you went to the source that I quoted concering Henry A. Jefferson. Do you have any other clues as to who his father is? I am glad you found so much information.

Have you found the proof you need? I haven't "looked at" the message board quite a while!!!

I found the volume mentioned at the Chatham library. There are a few pages that connect the Jefferson's' from Peter Field Jefferson, the first cousin of President Jefferson, down through my Grandmother Rosa Bell. She was Samuel David's (Henry's son) daughter.

I have a paper copy of the actual pages from Vol XVI, #2 and a copy of the volume cover. This may be of interest to you. If so, let me know.
