Hello Anthony,
I hope you may be able to help me as i see you are the great grandson of Ada Czarnikow.
I am in no way related to this family but I am hoping that you know of any living descendents of Horace Czarnikow.
I live in Zurich, Switzerland, and today bought in a junk shop, a small leather bound French/English dictionary published in 1873, stamped inside the cover is H Czarnikow, and written Harrow Nov 1880. Czarnikow being such an unusual name in England i found Horace at Harrow School in the 1881 Census. it would be nice to find out how it ended up in Switzerland, and the possible return of it to it's family.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
Craig Taggart, Switzerland.

I'm also interested in finding out more about his brother, John James Jenkinson 1859 - 1915, assuming I have the right person.

Jenkinsons related via the Czarnikow family of London and Poland

Any Jenkinsons who are related via Ada Czarnikow, daughter of Ada Louisa Ashlin (who married Caesar Czarnikow), daughter of Louisa Harvey Ashlin and her husband Spencer Ashlin, son of John Musson Ashlin of Rush House, Lavendar Hill, Wandsworth … are also descended from (1) John Harvey silk mercer and haberdasher of Ludgate Hill and his wife Louisa Hall; (2) George Hall goldsmith of the the Strand and his wife Elinor Wyllys; (3) Joseph Wyllys (apothecary of South Weald) and his wife Deborah Hayes (m. about 1740); (4) Edward Willis (rector if Ingrave 1698-1732) and his wife Mary Rhodes (m. at St Thomas’s Church, Brentwood, Essex 1697); and (5) John Wyllis MA (rector of Ingrave from 1662 until his death in 1696). Further information on the Wyllys/Hall/Harvey family is available by emailing b.morris@btinternet.com. Some branches of this family had roots in the City of London trading community, probably going back to the sixteenth century, and possibly into undocumented times before that. On the internet there is plenty of information about Caesar Czarnikow and his son Horace Czarnkow, accessible through any search engine.
All best, B.
Re: William Jenkinson

I have a Samuel A. Jenkinson with brothers Joseph and Robert coming to the US from England in as far as I can tell abt. 1855-1858. They had a brother William who I believe also came to the US but came later than the first three brothers so the 1863 date would be about right. Two of the first three brothers (Samuel and Joseph) served in the civil war as confederate soldiers. Robert Jenkinson lived the rest of his life in Canada. My ancestor is Samuel A. Jenkinson. He and his brother Joseph can be found on the 1860 Wilkinson, Desha Co. Arkansas census. Both state they were born in England. I have not tried to trace William but there is a tree on ancestry.com about Robert's family. Unfortunately his family lost track of their gr gr grandfather's other brothers but they did track the parents of the brothers in England. Their Father's name was also Samuel A. Jenkinson. Don't know if this gives you any leads but it could possibly be a match. My Grandmother's nephew says that his father always told him that they had Jenkinson relatives in Indiana. That might be a clue for the other Jenkinson brothers Joseph and William.
My email: twojroses@gmail.com if you have questions.

The following information I found posted on Ancestry.com. It says that Thomas Jenkinson's father is Thomas Jenkinson.
Born in Bangor, County Down, in what is now Northern Ireland. Bangor is on the coast, east of Belfast.

Source: GENUKI; United Kingdom and Ireland, International Genealogical Index, Ireland. Bangor Parish Records

Made oath in court in 1740 that he had come from Ireland via Philadelphia with his family. Original is on microfilm in the Virginia State Library, Richmond, VA. This was the common route for Scots Irish Presbyterian immigrants, since the Quakers in PA welcomed them, whereas they sometimes ran into problems with the Church of England folks in the Tidewater.

He purchased 318 acres of land on Hays' and Moffet's creeks in what is now Rockbridge County on 18 June 1746. Hays Creek joins the Maury River in the little town of Rockbridge Baths, near the beginning of the beautiful Goshen Pass, which the river cuts through the mountains near Lexington.

He was appointed overseer of a road from the Court House to the Timber Bridge.

He owned a grist mill - mentioned in his will. Hays Mill is also mentioned in a history of Rockbridge County (County Library) as one of the early mills in the area. Hays Creek was named after the mill.

Also what made you believe that Dorothy's maiden name might be Fisher?

This is my family line as well. Eliza Jane Munsey is my Great Great Grandmother. Im sorry, but there has been no evidence that a Chief Munsey/Muncie ever existed. He is believed to be a mythological figure. According to family, My G-G-Grandmother, Eliza Jane, did have special beads which were passed on to her that she kept in her possession throughout her life. It is believed that these were the beads that may have originated from the Delaware-Muncee Tribe, but this has never been confirmed. This is probably where the story originated. If you have anything showing that Eliza Jane is of tribal descent, I would love to share info with you. All I have are family stories.

I did some research into your branch of the tree.

Joseph G. Jenkinson was married to Alma Parcher.

Joseph was the son of George R. Jenkinson and Eliza Jane Munsey. Eliza's father was a kinsman of Chief Muncie.

George R. was the son of Joseph G. Jenkinson and Elzabeth Jane Wade.

Joseph was the son of Francis Jenkinson and Catherine Shockey.

Francis was the son of William Jenkinson and Frances Borges.

Joseph G, Francis and William were all born in Pennsylvania.

I have tons of other information if you would like to see it.

I would like to see the info that you have because I have a few blanks on that branch of the tree.

I would like to have your data. I have some blanks in part of that branch of the family.

You do have some errors in your data. For instance, George Jenkinson (husband of Eliza Munsey) was born in Darke County, Ohio as were two of his siblings. The last two of his siblings were born in Indiana. You also have a few dates that are wrong.

my email is jenkinson@fuse.net I look forward to seeing your data.

John Anthony Jenkinson and Joan Molesworth Dunn had only one child my father Robin Jenkinson. Joan Dunn had previously been married to Hubert Duggan, stepson of Lord Curzon. After the death of Anthony Jenkinson she was married a third time to Charles Dutton, Lord Sherborne. Robin Jenkinson married Helene Novikova daughter of Vladimir Novikov and Zoya Rud, and had three children: myself, also John Anthony Jenkinson, and my sisters Tamara and Tatiana.

In 2007 you kindly answered when I posted a query about the Jenkinson and Czarnikow families. Extraordinary though it is I only saw your answer a few minutes ago as I rather dropped off the radar as far as ancestry.com is concerned.

I am very interested in hearing more on your connections to Horace Czarnikow, in fact anything at all you may know about the Czarnikow family generally. As I said on my posting Ada Czarnikow is my great grandmother yet I know almost nothing about the Czarnikow's other than Ada's father
made a lot of money in sugar trading. I know even less about Horace, Ada's brother.

Apparently Horace and Ada's father Cesar married a woman from Bierton, Buckinghamshire with the surname of Ashlin (my great great grandmother and I know nothing at all of that side of the family.

Thanks again for replying and much look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry this reply is such a long time coming. It wasn't till last week that I started researching (along with my father) our family history which started in England.

It indeed sounds as though you have a photograph of my great grandfather or great great Uncle who both immigrated to New Bedford Massachusetts. My great grandfather Herbert immigrated in 1905 and My Great Great Unlce Stanley in 1925.
My great grandfather Herbert and gguncle Stanley both lived on Central Ave and my great grandfather owned a restaurant on Acushnet Ave.

Please do get in touch with me as I would love to trace down the relation and hopefully get a glimpse of the photo as I do not have one.
