I am trying to find Edwards Parents. I can find him as far back as the 1880 census in Smithville(eastampton) NJ. The family story says that his father was a famous jockey in England.

I don't know if this helps but, I have just started working on my tree and hit a road block when it comes to the Jennings side. The family story was always that we were related to a famous Jockey from England. I wonder if that could be the Fred you are speaking of. Edward Jennings is in Smithfield NJ in 1880 but I can not find him before that. His father is listed as being from England? Maybe a match?

It is nice meeting you. No, I don't know of anyone in my family that is into genealogy. Sometimes I am curious as my grandfather's father was supposed to have been close to 6'10" tall and I wonder why I am so short. Yes, Duffy did live in NY but he moved to Va around 1970. My father is Henry and we live in NC and have since I was born in 1963. They also had a daughter named Marianne but she died a little over a year ago. My grandmother died before I was born or when I was a baby and I guess my grandfather didn't feel he was emotionally able to visit her grave as he never did but I do remember him talking about writing to people- particularly someone named Celia who was my grandmother's cousin, I think. To my knowledge I have only been to Macon twice, once when I was about five so I have very little memories of that and then to bury my grandfather. I remember meeting a lot of relatives I had never seen before but that was such an emotional time as well as such a blur that I don't remember who I met. My grandfather moved to the town we lived in and lived in a duplex not too far from us because there were concerns about him living so far away from kin due to his age. To this day he was probably the best friend I ever had.
I will try to share more information when I get a chance but I am at work now and I need to go.
Steve

My name is Ginger Ferguson and I am delighted to hear from you! Are you Steve Jennings? Where do you live? Are you or any of your family members interested in genealogy? I'd love to hear from you and share information if you are interested. My mother and Frank Jennings were first cousins. Mother and your grandmother and Frank spoke and wrote to each other. I have a copy of a letter to my mother from Sarah Elizabeth Duffy, who must have been your grandmother, written from Roanoke, Virginia, on August 17, 1956. She mentioned her son (didn't give his name) in Elmira, New York, and that her other son, Henry, was working for Woolworth in Atlanta. I suppose you are the son of one of them. My mother was the daughter of Minnie Jennings (Henderson) and Frank was the son of Henry Greeley Jennings. Minnie and Henry were siblings.
I have traced the Jennings family back to Louis Jennings, born in 1808 but I can't get any farther back. And I don't have you or your parents or their children. Thomas Jennings was my great grandfather and I have information on him down to me, if you're interested in any of that. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Ginger

Hi cousin!
I don't know if I ever contacted you before. If not I'm sorry.

My dad and uncle went and visited Otta, Neva and Walter. I assume you belong to Walter he had a lot of kids.
Hubert wasn't the only one to move back to Tenn. Ada, who married Hirum Hurst moved back to same area as Hubert.

From verbal history Ada, Hubert, and Jarvis father was John Parrish. He came from Tenn to Texas 3 times and asked Sarah to marry him, she refused. Again this is verbal history not documented proof. Bert father was George Roden, again verbal history and Betsie's father was Lee Breeding. Lee left her $1000 in his will.

Sarah was not the only family to come to Tex. Her sister Elisa and brother Augustus moved to Fannin Co Tex area. They also stayed. Sarah left Tenn after the 1900 cen. before her daughter Ada married in Tex. in 1902.

Your g-grandfather also was married twice. His 1st wife was Mary Barnett. She was bn 1885, M 1903, d 1906 of a fever. All in Fannin Co. He married Rosa in 1909 in Tenn. Don't know when he moved back. There are some verbal rumors that Hubert and Mary had a child but it died. Ada married in 02 in Tx and had her first child in 03 in Tenn. I'm assuming that Hirum and Ada already had a relationship before they left Tenn. He came to Tex to marry her and took her back to Tenn. So she was already back in Tenn when Hubert and Mary married.

I Think this hits the highlights. Would love to talk more.
Hello: I've got notations on a Sarah Elizabeth Jennings m. a Winsor Smith ROWE probably in St. Landry Parish, LA. The couple had @ least 1 child: Mary Louicine, b. 8/6/1878 in Sherman's Mill, St. Landry, LA. If you think there might be any connections, pls let's compare notes. The names are just TOO close not to somehow be connected. Thx -- Linda Alexander

I am looking for info on a George W Jennings. I do not know his dates of birth/death, but he was married twice. Once to a woman with whom he had several children. His second marriage was to Eula E Reynolds, my great grandmother. She is buried in Campbell County, and he is as well near the grave of his first wife whose name is unknown. I would appreciate any information anyone happens to have on George's first wife and my grandmother's half-siblings.

My grandfather Adolphus Green was born 29 October 1793 in New Ashford Mass., I believe his father was Chaffee Bowen Greene and I think his mom's name was Hannah Cable. Adolphus was married to a Sally Roderick I believe their wedding was 11 Oct 1816 and they had only one son I think name Willard K., from what I understand she died in childbirth. He then married a Elethear (not sure if her madien name was Fulton or Cole) they married 15 Mar 1821 and had a large number of children, Mason, Milo born 1823 in New York, Sarah, Matilda, Elizabeth, Lucinda, Almira,Clarissa, Caroline, Emeline, Adeline, and Rueben, I know they lived in Michigan and Ohio. It's a big family. The Greene's dropped the e on the end with Adolphus. Anything you can send is appreciated.

I am looking for William Jennings and Mary Allen's son
William Jennings & Agnes Dickenson's son
James Jennings born 26 Dec 1756 VA. died 1837, I have some indication that his wife was Nancy Dickerson. But no children that I know of. Or if they stayed in Va or if James moved to another state.

I studied Documented Notes on Jennings & Allied families extensively. Also The TN & N Carolina State Archives. I am beginning to believe the answer may no longer exist in original archived records. Perhaps someone has a Bible or other family info on the above James Jennings 1756 and/or my James Jennings 1757.

My James Jennings was b 14 Feb 1757 Buckingham Co VA according to his account in his Rev War pension papers and died 4 Dec 1837 in NC. He enlisted from Prince Edward Co Va. I am wondering if one birth date might actually be the christening date and could this be the same person?

James 1757 was married 2x that I know of. 1)"Miss" Burch abt 1781, my 7gr grandmother and 2) Hannah Martin 1788 Surry Co NC. I was not aware of any other marriage.

James' (b1756) uncle Robert (Robin Jennings) had a son named Doctor and another named Samuel.

There are several given name Doctor in my line. A Samuel Jennings of Cooke Co Tn is mentioned in James (b 1757) pension papers. Samuel, Richard, and Doctor bought land in Maury Co TN. These 3 are mentioned in Robin Jennings Will + other children. My 5th gr grandfather Thomas D Jennings married in Marshall Co TN 1838 & 1843. (Marshall was carved out of Maury Co).

I have searched under every Boulder, rock and grain of sand for a source doc for James 1757 parents/sibs. So far no luck.

If anyone has any information on either of these James Jennings I would appreciate it very much. Thanks
Maylene
mhamaha@aol.com
