We called him BJ.
He lived most of his life in Arlington; graduated from Sam Houston High. Was loved by and loved everyone. When he walked into a room, he filled it with warmth and love. BJ never let his "deaf-ness" be a handicap. He just worked harder at understanding everyone. For those who knew him-their life is richer, for those who didn't-there is a void.
I miss him everyday!
BJ's "MOM"

Source: The Quincy Daily Herald; Quincy, Illinois; May 31, 1882; page 1.

AN ATTORNEY IN TROUBLE.
DAVENPORT, Ia., May 30. -- J. H. C. Jenson, a lawyer of this city, has been arrested by order of United States Commissioner White. The charge against him is that of procuring fraudulent pensions and charging extortionate fees. Jenson does not deny the charges. One of the women for whom he obtained a pension testified to-day that he told her that the records of her marriage to a second husband were destroyed, and in that way she could receive a pension on account of the death of her first husband. By means of manufactured affidavits Jenson obtained the pension and charged $400 for it. The limit allowed by law to a pension agent is $10.

Re: Lewis Jenson - Lewiston in Montmorency County; The Michelson & Hanson Lumber Company 1891

I am looking for more historical information on Lewiston, MI. I'm interested in finding out about a building that was called the Lewiston Boarding House- where it was, who owned it, etc. To the best of my knowledge this building was moved out to West Twin after the big fire in Lewiston. It was one of the few buildings left and was rolled out on logs and is still there today. My husband's family has owned it since the late 1930s and we are looking to redo it and need info for the township. Also interested any other info you have about the town of Lewiston. Thank you

Crawford County Missouri Shooting in 1895 - Nelson Jenson

Publication: The Rolla New Era
Place: Rolla, Missouri
Date:1895 Oct 12
Page Number: 2

Crawford County Shooting
Steelville, Mo., Oct. 8 -
supposed fatal shooting occurred near Bourbon, Crawford County, yesterday. William Govier and Nelson Jenson are neighbors. For some time a very bitter feeling has existed between them, owing to family differences. Govier charged Jenson with slandering his wife and daughter. Yesterday Jenson was on trial for disturbing the peace, and is said to have repeated in his evidence slanders against the wife and daughter of Govier. This seemed to craze Govier. He went out and armed himself and meeting Jenson in the road demanded a retraction. This was refused. Then Govier drew his pistol and shot Jenson three times. The wounds are supposed to be fatal. Govier came to this city last night and surrendered himself to the Sheriff.

Volunteer Transcription by,
Rhonda Johnson
Jenson Message Board Admin
