Jewel also known as Tuel

Just wanted to post a note here that I am a Tuel descendant- 1. William Tuel- 2. Daniel Tuel Sr.- 3. Presley Tuel Sr.- Caroline Tuel Palmer. No proof that William is the father of Daniel. The family is believed to have come from Bull Run, Prince William Co., VA to Fly, Monroe Co., Ohio. I have seen the name spelled Jewel and wanted to post and see if there are any connections on this board.
Elizabeth

William Jewel Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland

I am interested in exchanging information related to a William Jewell who would have been born around 1787 or before. He might have been married to a woman named Martha Hickman (Higgma?). William had one child named George Jewell. I am not sure if he had anymore children. George married Delilah McKee on 3/17/1832 in Columbiana County Ohio. Family history also says that George may have been an orphan soon after birth. I have never been able to confirm this though.

I have seen some census records that show William might have been born in Pennsylvania, Ohio or Maryland.

I would be very grateful to have any information regarding William Jewell.

Thank you.

FreeBMD is a UK site. It contains transcriptions of the Birth Marriage and Death Indices for England and Wales from 1837. The coverage is not complete yet. Google FreeBMD and you'll find it. There is no trace of a William Hopkin/Susan Jewels marriage but it may be missing or not yet transcribed. Did they marry ? In England ?. Knowing when was William born might help you in your search

This may very be our Susan but I guess I won't know for sure until I can find a marriage with William Hopkin who was from Newton Nottage, Glamorgan, Wales. If you come across anything I would appreciate hearing from you since I live in Canada.

To the best of my knowledge, the Hazel Jewell I have been seeking was married only to George Hennes. Subsequent to my posting of the inquiry I received the following obituary. From it I concluded that Hazel’s parents were John Jewell and Betsy Anderson.
Mrs. Hazel Hennes, 74, of 1014 State Street, St. Joseph, died at 5:15 p.m. yesterday in her home.
Mrs. Hennes was born July 11, 1897, in Stevensville, the daughter of John and Betsy Anderson Jewell.
In 1918, she was married to George Hennes. He died Jan. 12, 1957.
She is survived by two sons, George of Wayne and John of St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Kerley and Starks funeral home. Burial will be in Crystal Springs cemetery.
I wish I could be of more help. Was your Hazel from Berrien County, Michigan?

I don't have information about Wayne Jewel, but I do have photos of Earl Edward Voge whose mother was Dorothy Kasulka. She was really born Dorothy Dagher and called Dora by family. Her father was Carl Dagher and Emma Kasulka. Her mother died at the age of 21 when the second child was born. Dora's grandparents, Henry and Caroline Kasulka of Lake Andes, SD, raised her. As a young woman, she moved to Minnesota. I can dig for the the town.

I hope this give some info. Yes, I know she also married a Jewel or Jewell. She also had a daughter named Myra Joyce born Mar. 11, 1925. Earl was born Nov. 15, 1921.

My grandmother on my father's side married a man by the name of Clinton Jewel. I remember him but the last I knew, he was in Florida. I assume that he died there but I am not sure. As far as I know he was born in NY. My grandmother died in 1974 and grandpa Jewel was still alive at that time. I do not know when he died but I would love to have some information on him. At the present time all that I have is his name and I know that he married my grandmother. It was her third marriage. They lived in St. Petersburg, FL when she died.

Thanks Don for your reply.
I found in the 1850 Alabama Census this George Jewel that I am talking about. It said that he was seven years old when the census was taken. So I can be pretty certain to establish his year of birth as 1843. He would have been about military age by the time of the Civil War. Could he have ventured north to Ohio during that time, married and raised his family there?
His sisters were Mahala (my Great grandmother), Mahulda (her twin), and Agnys. His mother's name was Jane. No father was listed in the census.
Were there any twins in your branch of the family?
I will save the info you sent and see if I run into some of it again.
Thanks,
Bob
