Witnesseth that the s'd Peter Sexton for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds to him in hand paid by the said Burrell Jinks......a certain tract of land situated in the county aforesaid and bounded as follows: Viz: Beginning at a line in Seth Cottens line thence East to line in a ? Executor for Joseph Jinks Will 1810. We think Joseph's son was Urias. There is a court case about Urias and his siblings on the estate of his mother, Mary, 1817.

I had that John Spires married Nancy (Matthew's daughter) and also Burwell's daughter, Julia Ann. Am I correct on that? I need to go back and look at those sources.

I am the g-g-g-granddaughter of the son of Unknown Male Jinks and Anne Jinks Matthews, Burwell Jinks (SIC) b. c.1782 NC d. 15 Sept 1844 Butts Co. GA, USA. He is buried in the Old Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Four Points Road, Jackson, Butts Co., GA, USA. See photos of his and other Jinks family grave markers on www.findagrave.com. Burwell Jinks donated the land for Old Bethel Primitive Baptist Church and Cemetery on 13 April, 1825.

I noticed that his name was misspelled in the posting as “Burrell Jinks.”

They're listed in 1850 and 1870 as white. Especially after the war, if there was ANY question, they would have been listed as mulatto. This was just a transcription error.

I'm hoping to collect the names of anyone researching the sons of Ann: namely Joseph, Burrell, Mathew, and John
Let's work on these lines and see if we can make some progress. If you have hints about where to look on-line pass these along. Today there are so many more things available in image form!

Source: Joseph Matthew's will Probate: Jan, 1791

This family should have been listed in 1790 under the Matthews household.
When the ? Jinks died, there should have been something the Court Minutes to provide for the widow from the estate. Guardianship would have been designated for the 4 sons--especially if their father had property.

Idea from Barbara Montgomery:
Ann Jinks Matthews and the father of Joseph, John, Matthew and Burrell Jinks. The idea hit me that perhaps Burrell was her maiden name. I did a search on the LDS website for Ann Burrell and was surprised to find that the majority of the hits in the U.S. were in the Lynn, Massachusetts area where Joseph Jenckes/Jenks/Jinks settled in the mid 1600's. There seems to have been a large Burrell family there at the same time. I did not find a Burrell/Jinks marriage yet but I haven't given up on investigating the idea

Hi Valerie Hughes I have tried sending you a reply to your post but unfortunately there is an error each time I press reply. Cyril Henry Hughes was my Grandfather although never got to meet him. My father Leslie Alfred Hughes was the child of Cyril and his second wife Florence Eveline Walker. My father lost his mother when he was about 8 years old and his father Cyril when he was about 12 years old. My dad always tried to track down two older brothers he knew he had, they both probably served in the first world war. He also mentioned he had a sister but he thinks she died in her teens. I haven't been able to track down names of his siblings I have no doubt they were by Cyril's first wife May Trackson. Do you happen to have any information regarding their children born between 1913 and when May passed away. Hope you can help me shed some light on this. Many people think I have Italian/Spanish heritage because of my olive skin so my children have asked me to trace family roots. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi my name is Dianne Sillis and I'm trying to trace my late father Leslie Alfred Hughes' family tree. Cyril Henry Hughes was my grandfather although never knew him he married Florence Eveline Walker in 1933. I found today that he married your husband's grandmother in 1913 and like you I am having trouble finding any history on the name Trackson. I have been trying to trace whether or not Cyril and May had any children obviously they did as your husband was their grandchild. I would love if you could let me have any information regarding children with May. I am trying to find history on my dad's two brothers who were older than him and probably both served in the war. He told me he also had a sister her whereabouts were also unknown although he thought she had since died. When Florence my father's mother died Cyril married a family friend called Hannah i think. This lady didn't want my dad at home, my dad studied and gained a scholarship and left home young. He served in the RAF. He ha
d gone been back to Wimbledon several times to try & trace his roots but came to a dead end with regards to his siblings. Would you happen to know anything about Cyril's children?

I have some information on the Jincks family. Ichabod Jincks settled in the US and was a Captain in the Revolutionary War. Then there are descendants Fredrick Edgar Jincks who married Julia Etta Harpar. My Grandfather is one of their children.

Alice Jinks was my Grand Aunt, Moses my Grand Uncle who was killed in 1918 Épéhy, Somme, Picardie, France.Commonwealth Grave Memorial Reference: I. C. 10.
I myself was born in Wheelock and my Grandfather Joseph 1880 - 1948.I can remember visisting Aunt Lizzie on many occasions at 1 Union Street, Sandbach.

Would be grateful of any further info you have, happy to share what I know.

I am looking for information on my Jinks relatives in Louisiana/Arkansas. My grandmother is Mildred Jinks who married Eugene Wainwright in 1936 (Arkansas). Mildred was born in Arkansas in 1917. Her mother Nellie was born in Arkansas in 1895. Census records show that Nellie had two other daughters. Delora Jinks was born in Arkansas and Ivalee was born in Louisiana.
The problem is... I can't find the name of Mildred's father. Please let me know if you have any information that might help.

I have a g-grandfather who's name was William Jinks! The story goes: He had two daughters Ziska and Omie Jinks. He got sick and his family came from the North and took him away. He left his wife and two girls along. One of the girls was my grandmother Ziska Jinks Farrington. When he got sick they lived in Mississippi. Just wondering if you William could be our William? The story with our Jinks is that - My g-grandfather was William Jinks - he had two girls Ziska and Oma(Omie)!
He got sick and his family came and took him North - That is all we know about him. My grandmother was Ziska Jinks Farrington.

I had or have a half=sister named Dorothy Jinks, middle name I believe was Jean, born in 1923. Her parents may have been working for either some church or private business group in the Philippines, but her mother was from Springfield Missouri and she may have been born there. Her mother Hilma Davies or Hilma Jinks died in the 40s or early 50s in Alameda California. Have been unable to find out anything about her. Thanks

My Grandmother was Susie Mae Jinks Reynolds and she told me that her father was Robert Franklin Jinks, Sr AKA Mr. Bob Jinks and mother was Mary Ester Coleman and I have found this info. I know that Lucinda jinks was Mr. Bob's mother and Joseph Sasser Sullivan AKA Joe Sessfus Sullivan was his father whwere did you get your info would love to talk to you and find out more. Sorry it's taken so long to reply, have been a bit busy with the birth of my son, arrived last Friday. In answer to your questions, I'm not sure when I'll be going to Sligo, I was hoping to go in the summer, but that may have to be postponed until next year. My ancestors Charles Jinks (b.1811) and his sons; Charles (b.1839), Martin (b.1837) & Bartholomew (b.1843) all migrated from Sligo to Edinburgh sometime between 1851 & 1861. Charles' father, another Bartholomew is as far back as I've been able to get due to the Irish records being burned in the 1920s. There are a lot of Jinks's in Sligo still, and even a road named after the most famous one John. If I can be of any help in your search, please let me know.

I was looking at the 1880 census and saw where There is a william Jincks, I don't think this my Ziska Jincks(My Grandmother) I have a call into my cousin Arthur Farrington to see what he thinks. Linda, I found where my grandfather's name was William Jincks- They lived in MS. (Ziska Jincks was born there) Not sure if they lived in Texas. I know at one time Ziska did live in Texas after she got married. I am so confushed when it comes to the Jincks side of the family.
Hope you can help! The story we have is that William got sick and his family came from the north (N. of LA ?)and took him away.By the way she had a sister named Oma.

Charles Jinks, Sligo

Trying to trace information on Jinks ancestors in Sligo. Particularly Bartholomew Jinks who married Bridget Sweeney, they had son Charles Jinks born about 1811 and married Catherine May 25/3/1834 in Co.Sligo. Charles and Catherine had son Charles born 14/3/1839, then all subsequently moved to Leith, Edinburgh.
I am planning to visit Sligo, so any information on this branch of Jinks family would be very much appreciated in order to narrow my search.

Thanks for trying to help me with the info you had but my grandfather was David James Jinks and he married Nancy Baker. His father was James Jinks and Mother was Margaret(unknown last name). They all lived in Sevier and Knox, Tennessee. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.

Need help with James Jinks from I think NC married a Sarah Northern and they had about 7 children
One named James Tarleton and one named David Jackson Jinks. James and David spent time in Tennessee I believe they died in Knoxville or surrounding area.
David's son Charlie Greenlee Jinks was my grandfather and would like more info on this family.
James Jinks abt: 1815 Sarah G. Northern abt: 1833 I think married August 22, 1849 dont know where
David Jackson Jinks March 5, 1857 died March 12, 1917 do not know where he was born. Married Elizabeth Langley May 21, 1876

To my knowledge, there is no DAVE Jinks in my Jinks line. My Jinks family is most recently all from Alabama, previously Georgia, and originally North Carolina. Sorry I can't be of more help.

My maiden name is Jenks but came from Jinks. My greatgrandfather was Dave Jinks from Sevier Tennessee and his family also lived in Knoxville Tennessee. I wonder if there was any relation?

William Robert Franklin Jinks married Mary EstherLee(I was told Mary EstherLee by Pop)Coleman was the Parents of William Robert Franklin(g)Jinks(known as Pop Jinks to family and Uncle Frank to friends and neighbors, the (g) because he did not like being a Junior, if you look for his WWI enlistment card here on Ancestry it shows his name as Wm(William) Robert Franklin Jinks and he signs his legal signature as William Robert Frankling' Jinks. Wm Robert Franklin Jinks III was Pop's oldest son. Joe Henry Jinks was Pop's brother 2 years younger than him( I have a picture of Uncle Joe Henry standing beside a Covered Wagon and a Team of Mules, and he was head and shoulders above the team slmost as tall as the wagon top(BIG man). Joseph Sassers(Cephus) Sullivan married Mary(Polly)Jinks - yes daughter of Adam Jinks, she died in Mississippi, and then he married Matilda Telitha Jinks and Lucinda Rebecca Jinks (younger sister) came to help with all the children and Joseph raped her and she returned to Mississippi to her family and had William Robert Franklin Jinks( She refused more or less to give him the Sullivan name. thereby we go by Jinks now instead of Sullivan. Christopher Columbus was half brother to William Robert Franklin Jinks Sr. and nephew of Lucinda Rebecca Jinks. Adam Jinks and Eliza Eaves were the Jinks girls parents.

Is that how they were 1/2 brothers -- through their Mother?
