1916 Child's Celluloid Catholic Communion Book
This is a beautiful child's communion book from 1916. It measures 2 1/2" x 4" x 7/8". 400 pages. The covers are an ivory-colored celluloid with an imprinted color illustration of
Christ on the front and metal clasp. The spine is embossed velvet. Gilded page edges. The inside cover is recessed with an inset Mother-of-Pearl cross with a metal
Christ on it with a fancy cloth background.
The title page reads Perlen der Anbacht and is in
German. Printed by
Diederich Schaeffer Co., Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. The opposite tissue-covered page has an actual line engraved print of
Christ. The hand-written next page shows this book was given to
Catharine Johann upon her communion on June 18th, 1916. The handwriting is in
German,
