Surnames: John,Johann,Bowser,Bausser,Dubrock,& more
I just recently discovered that My oldest relative in my data base was Martin Johann. He sighned this on a legal document. He lived in Pa. in 1700's to 1846. The names Peter, Andrew, John, Martin are commin in our family.If anyone would like to share I would like to as well.My Martin spoke German

Ralph,I am interested if you have any info on the following Johanns: Ambrose Johann (1893-1984), who had brothers Augustus(1888-1987),Walter and Stephen, Jacob and the eldest, Andrew. The parents were Stephen Johann of Philadephia, Pa., who was a Roman Catholic of German descent; who married a methodist Caroline "Carrie" Marie Babcock of Egg Harbour, NJ.

Johann means John in Danish and German and its really close to my familly name Johannsen...they have the same meaning, John is a common name in my family and They are mostly from Germany.

Surnames: Johann
My great-grandfather SIMON JOHANN was born Dec. 27 1859 in Dernbach, Pfalz, which was part of Bavaria. He was Roman Catholic. He emigrated in 1890 to the U.S., stopping first in Pennsylvania and winding up in Greenwich, Conn. by 1895.

If you have any more info about Johann's from the Rhineland-Pfalz region, I'd love to see it.
