Looking for information on sisters Augusta JONAS and Wilhelmina (Minnie or Mina) JONAS, born in Germany and immigrated to US, Buffalo, NY.
Augusta married August HORN in Germany, and traveled with husband and daughter Anna in 1881. Augusta Jonas (Horn) had six children and raised them in Buffalo, NY (West Seneca).
Wilhelmina JONAS traveled separately, and met her husband on board, John KLEINOW. In 1910 census, John reports he immigrated in 1884.
I do not know parents of Augusta & Mina...

After much research, I can place John Jonas as son of Johann/John Jonas and Johanna Gutzow (Gooslow). So, John Jonas (who married Ida Vick) descends through John and Johanna.
I am still researching to see if Johann and Wilhelm might be brothers. I believe I have found the index records for both of their naturalizations, I need to get to IRAD to look them both up and see what that might tell me.

Illinois Jonas Families

I have been recently working on my Jonas family line. I descend from Wilhelm/William Jonas (1863-1913) and Marie Lustgens (1862-1944), they raised their family in Morton Grove, IL and had 14 children. I have information on the youngest 12, though I have a name for one child, just not sure of her birth order. I believe I found the last child, but I am hoping to connect with someone else researching these families.
I also am looking into John Jonas (1888-1949)and Ida Vick (1886-1960)
and
John Jonas (1849-1927) and Johanna Gutzow (Gooslow) (1852-1923).

My thoughts are that John and Johanna would be brother and sister in law to William and Marie. I also believe that John and Ida would be Wm and Marie's son and daughter in law.
When Ida and John were married one of the witnesses was Emma Jonas. William and Marie's 3rd child was an Emma.

Angelika Jonas

My great great grandmother was Angelika Jonas Bens. The info I have for her comes from an "abstract" written in 1947 by her grandson. He and my great great grandfather Ignatz Benz (Bens) emigrated from Baden Germany around 1846 with an infant child, who died while at sea. Traveling with them was her brother Daniel Jonas.

The abstract lists her year of birth as 1820. Interestingly the 1850 census shows her brother Daniel as age 30, so perhaps they were twins. Just looking now, there is an entry in familysearch.org that shows an "Angalia Bence" being born in 1823 and an equally butchered "Egnot Bence" born in 1816 and both being from Baden. They're not coming up in the 1850 census there and the 1870 census doesn't seem to be shown for Ohio. She died in 1874, again according to the abstract.

Wondering about her family line back in Germany.

Daniel>Henry Daniel>John Ward>Wilbur Franklin>Donald Wilbur>Donald Ed Jonas [myself]. Descending order from Daniel Jonas [1797-1869].
Dear Jennifer, I would like to share "any" information you may have about the
Jonas family in Virginia. I have recently "found" this missing section since there was a serious split in the family because of divided loyalties over the Civil War!
Neither my father[ b. 1925 and living in Florida, age 85], knew anything about the Virginia/West Virginia Jonas Family! Dad said that his father never talked nor kept contact, probably because of my great-grandfather's wishes, with anyone in the source family. E-mail; info@edwardjonas.com. Thank you, ED

My great grandfather is Franciscus Antonius Jonas, he had two wives: Elizabeth Baker and Bertha Keiselbach. He immigated from Germany in 1880, and settled in Chicago. One of the entries on Family Search shows a Frank L Jonas and Frances Antoinette Bech as having a child, Elizabeth Katherine Jonas on 8/25/1883---I know Elizabeth to be a relative. The Jonas clan comes from Bingen Stadt in Germany. Is this your family?

Jonas Family in Kanawha VA/WV that settled in Wythe Co. VA

Hi, I have traced my family back to Elk River in Kanawha. My line ended up in Cripple Creek/Speedwell area of Wythe County VA. It appears that Daniel Jonas b.1797 & his Wife, Elizabeth M. Newcomer moved there and brought a good portion of the family along. My line descends from Daniel Jonas to Jacob Haller Jonas, Sr. to Daniel Kegley Jonas to Floyd Jonas to Hugh Curtis Jonas. I am having a hard time finding information on the family in Kanawha or prior to Daniel b.1797. I believe his father's name was John, but that is not proved. Any assistance you could be, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Cynthia Jonas Ray

I have been tracing my own Kingwell heritage for some time, and in doing so have just made contact with a Betty Young, whose husband is grandson of Phoebe Mary Kingwell, sister of the William Ira referred to in your notes. I don't know a lot about computers either. I raised my family of 10 children in sonoma Co and was able to do a lot of research in the county, starting in 1950 as all of my great-grandparents settled here as well as 2 sets of 2nd gt. grandparents. A Kingwell cousin from Canada went with me to a Kingwell cousin in the Bay area who had the picture of the ship. I will also send you a copy of what I have on the Holmans. Perhaps you can add to it.
Jean Thomas
