Wow, I think the brother Hans is my gg Grandfather. His daughter, Julia Louise married Arthur Dixon (my gGrandfather) and they had my grandfather, Edwin Russel Dixon.

Let me know if this fits -- I have lots of information going forward and even quite a bit going backward!

Sorry, we may not be related...My ancestors were Anders Jorgensen and Maren Hansine Jeppesen...came thru Ellis Island and settled in Exira, Audubon, IA. They came from Svendborg, Fyn, Danmark.

They too have a Florece Thora Jorgensen. I was exicited to see someone else researching the Jorgensen family.

As you noted, Carry appears with her parents and siblings in the Federal Census for 1910 Nebraska - Antelope County - Crawford.

The family is in the same place in 1920, but without Carry.

Best guess: she married and moved away, or she died, between 1910-1920.

Possible interest: The 09/12/1918 World War I Draft Registration for Antelope County, Nebraska shows her father Jerry Peter (not Paul) JORGENSEN as a farmer in Crawford, but with a mailing address as Route 3, Plainview, Pierce County, Nebraska. His nearest relative is Sophie Marin JORGENSEN, same mailing address.

I would love copies, please send as I do not have international yet. I've been working on what I can find in the U.S. and when I cannot go any farther U.S. I'll look at international. As we are seniors and fixed income now.
My I've been able to go back quite far on my side. But have found a few mistakes. So I plan to start my side over. and only track the parents and not worry about other spouses and brothers and sisters. Any ideas you care to pass on will be appericated. Thank you. Vanora

Christen Jorgensen and Karen Knudsen were married April 13 1860 (Christen was 27 and Karen only '15 yrs 5 1/2 months')

Karen Knudsen was born Oct 29 1844 in Skaerup parish. Parents Knud Pedersen and Mette Christensen.

Christen Jorgensen was born Mar 8 1833 in Gaverslund parish, Vejle. Parents Jorgen Nielsen and Kirsten Hansdatter

You are in luck. Maria Jorgensen is my gg grandmother. She married Hans Kuhr. Maria B. 12/17/1864 Denmark. Her sister Sophia B. 12/2/1870 Denmark, She married Fred Frevert, in Wayne Co., Neb. 4/22/1892. They also had a brother Hans Jorgensen B. 1862 Denmark, who also lived in Wayne, NE.

I think you could be right about the paternal grandparents. I am trying to trace my maternal line. I recently tested my mtDNA and found out I could have Jewish roots. I need to find some vital records of some kind, or like cemetery/gravestone records of some distant ancestors.

I don't know about other descendants, but this is how the family was listed on the 1860, 1880 and 1890 census. (I suspect that there were other children between but they would have been out of the house by the 1880 census. The 1870 census for that area hasn't been added to the database yet. I'll see if I can find it in the Arkiver for you. And I would not be surprised if Johan Hansen and Anne Jorgensen turned out to be Karen's paternal grandparents)

Let me expand this thread by asking if there are any descendants of either Karen Kirstine Jorgensen or her mother, Susanne Charlotte Nielsen, or any of their relatives? I am attempting to trace Karen's maternal ancestry, but it's been difficult because all of my relatives from her are dead, and didn't keep many records or talk about them.

My great-great grandmother was Karen Kirstine Jorgensen. I believe she was born in Esbjerg, Denmark in about March of 1878. She married Christian Jorgensen Miller, and came to Minnesota in about 1906-7. Their children were Adna/Andrea, Christian (nicknamed Kesso), and Lydia (born in America). One of their first cousins who came here alone some time later was a Ziegfeld girl. Karen lived in South St. Paul, MN for many years, until she died in June of 1959.

I believe they had relatives who stayed in Denmark that had saved many Jews from the Holocaust during WWII.

Below is a photo of what she looked like. (hope it shows up)

I am having a hard time tracking down Karen's ancestry. I believe her mother may have been Susanne Charlotte Nielsen, born about 1838 or so, but I am not positive. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

Is is possible that your Ann Marie Jorgensen came from Argentina to the USA? I am trying to find a group of my ancestors who left Denmark in 1891 for Argentina and the last record I have of them being there is the 1895 census and at that time Ann Marie was a young girl.

Bang copywrited in 1952 by the Fort Kearney Memorial Trust published by WARP Publishing Co., Minden Nebraksa which you might have or be able to get at the library which gives information about the history of Nebraska and mentions the Jensens and Jorgensens.
