I am looking for any information or connections to my Judd ancestry line. I have traced my line as follows:

Roswell Judd b. (1803 NY) ======> Job B. Judd (b. ~1832 IN) =====> Edward C. Judd (b. 29 Sep 1865 IN) =====> John W.E. Judd (b. 30 Nov 1904 MN) =====> Almira Judd =====> William Roll =====> Amanda Roll (this is me).

Any information that can help me find ancestors before Roswell would be greatly appreciated!

Information on more recent generations is also welcome!!! From what I have learned so far, some of Job's children moved to Minnesota. Along with his wife Ellen (after his death). My grandma is the last Judd in our family line. I would love to connect with relatives that descend from one of Edward's siblings!!

Thank you!

Amanda Roll

Hello, my Judd line is reported to be from Ireland. A great-uncle is William Ireland Judd. Named because the line is from Ireland. His Aunt Marie reportedly lived came from Ireland regardless of the fact that her Judd husband died either before she left or on passage to KY. Please contact me. Thanks, Ann My dad's first cousin gave this information before he died 2 years ago.

Thank you so much!

I have found little bits about her but nothing for sure. Our family oral history mentions only a hint. So sad this got lost over time.

I will look for the book in the library. (I'll bet the DAR has a copy.)

Here's a version of the song about her (I am not on Ancestry any more so do not remember if I picked it up here or not. It has been a while.)

VERSE 1
Way out on an Indian reservation
Far away from civilization
Back where the foot of white men seldom trod
White man went to fish, one summer
Met an Indian girl, a hummmer,
Daughter of the big chief, Spare-The-Rod

VERSE 2
White man threw some loving glances
Take the maid to merry war dances
Smoked the pipe of peace, took chances
Living in a teepee made of fur
He rode with her, on Indian pony
Gave her diamond ring, a phony
Then he sang these loving words to her

VERSE 3
Come by my pretty little Indian Napinee
Won't ya take a chance an' marry me
For your daddy's a chief, t'is my belief
To a very merry wedding, he'll agree
Though you're dark little Indian maid
I'll sunburn to a darker shade
I'll wear feathers on my head
Paint my face an Indian red
If you'll only be my Napinee
Judd by Peggy Gregory was published by Acadian Printing & Publishing Co, 1031 Burma Rd, Thibodaux, LA 70301-6199. My mail has been returned from there marked "unknown". I don't have a publishing date. What I had to resort to was ordering a copy through intra-library loan and photocopying it for my own use. The librarian said that was permissible to do so as long as I didn't use it in any way for profit. So I probably didn't copy the page that gives the date, catalog number, etc.

I'm sorry to be so late in replying - I just found this post today while randomly roaming. Had computer problems, it caught on fire, etc, etc. Now have new one, fireproof, I hope.

Are you familiar with anything about Robert's mother and Rowland's wife, Cherokee Woman? Seems to be a fair amount of info starting to appear on Ancestry's family trees about her and I would like to find out more or be able to verify it in some way.

Great to meet another cousin!

Jane

My 3rd great-grandmother was Lydia Judd who married Shadrack Stevens circa 1780. I have two different birthdates for Lydia -- 1764 in New York and 1768 in Connecticut. I do know that Lydia married Shadrack, who was a Loyalist in the American Revolution. Sometime after the conclusion of the American Revolution War, Shadrack and Lydia relocated to either New Brunswick or Nova Scotia, Canada. They eventually relocated to the Toronto, Ontario, Canada area. Please contact me with any info regarding the correct birthdate, names of siblings and parents of Lydia. Thank You.
Hi, my name is Gloria. I found a Hepzibah Williams married to Thomas Judd in Jan. 1718. They have 2 children in my list but could have had a son in 1722 that I don't have.
They have a son, Thomas, born 1726.
Hepzibah was from Hartford, Connecticut. It might be your Thomas but there are three Thomas's before Thomas, 1608.

Hi,

I'm quite new to Ancestry and see your posting is fairly old so you may already have your answer. As you will see i'm a Judd, our family is very large and I know a great uncle did emigrate to Australia on the £10 boat in the 60s. We do have a John Judd who was born approx 1900, his father was Stephen Judd who married Jane Emily Booker. John Judd was one of (I think) 23 children of which 14 survived(??). We come from East London.

Please let me know if you would like more information on this'Judd' family.

Kelly

Just passing this bit of information along. Reverend Russell Jesse Judd, born in New York, graduated from seminary in Ohio, took a pastorate job in New Jersey, a short stop in Lancaster Pennsylvania, and then on to Wisconsin. According to all records I've seen Caroline Loomis Judd is listed as their first-born. They actually had 3 other children before Caroline. William Henry Judd born 1841, Mary Plummer Judd born 1843 and Emily Catherine Judd born 1846.All three die within a few months of each other of scarlet fever in 1849 and are buried in St. James Episcopalian Cemetery, Lancaster,Pa. Caroline is their only child born in Lancaster,Pa. Eight more children are born in Wisconsin.

Hi Judy, My family's JUDD story seems very similar to yours, so just maybe they are one and the same. My g-g-grandmother was Susanna Sussex Judd. She came out to Camden in New South Wales, Australia from Devon in the mid-to late 1860's with her husband, my g-g-grandfather William Gordon(a teacher) and their two children Cosmo and Augusta, plus 2 of her brothers and their families. Others of her siblings went to Canada. Her parents were Peter and Patience Sussex Judd who were farmers at Weare Giffard in Devon. It is understood that some of g-g-grandmothers siblings settled in the Squamish Valley of British Columbia, Canada, while at least one stayed home in Devon to run the farm. Hope this helps.

I'am trying to find info for my mom about her grandmother Lois M.Judd b 1873 married James Mcallister in 1891. Lois's mom Ann Dobson is a mystery as well. Some people say that Lois died in 1946. Lois's daughter (Maude)my grandmother was told she died on her 21st birthday when Maude was 9 months old. I did find Maude living with her grandparents in 1900 at the age of 3. Then with her dad and new wife in 1910 at the age of 13. If Lois did indeed live til 1946 my grandmother and mom never knew this. That is why I'am not sure these are the same person. Per Maude her mom died in 1897 not 1946. So I don't know if Maude was maybe told her mom was dead for some strange reason or if she was. Any help with Lois or her mom Ann Dobson would be appreciated.

I should point out that there only two Judd families at present entitled to bear arms. That is, the male descendants of Walter Albert Judd,(of whom I am one), and the male descendants of the late Jack Lewis Judd and his brother Eric Kenneth. All other clainm are entirely spurious, as the College of Arms in London will confirm. George.
