These stones are just outside our back door not 30 feet away. I would like to find out as much as I can about this family and the property. I have an old granet foundation in the middle of my lawn and am now ondering if this might have been theirs??

Ruth Kaler Varga - 1914-2011 - Crestline, Ohio

Ruth M. Varga, 97, of 56 Pine Drive, Walton Lake, Crestline, Ohio died Monday, November 7, 2011 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Crestline

Ruth was born in Crestline, OH on March 24, 1914 to the late Willis and Dorothy (Weaver) Kaler.
She married Fritz Varga on March 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death April 12, 2005.

She was employed as a teacher retiring in 1973 after 36 years in the Crestline, Galion and Temple Christian of Mansfield school systems.

Ruth graduated from Crestline High School in 1931. She received her Teachers Diploma from Wittenberg College in 1933 and attended Bowling Green College and Ashland College where she received her BS in Education in 1939.
Ruth was a member of the National Education Association - Retired; Ohio Education Association - Retired; past member of the Crestline Library Board; a 50 Year Member of the former Harmony Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star, Crestline; American Legion Auxiliary, Crestline; Crestline Women's Club; and Crawford County, Ohio Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.

She was a member of the former First English Lutheran Church, Crestline and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline.
Ruth enjoyed line dancing and tap dancing in addition to attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's functions.

She is survived by her son Emerson & Jody Varga of Crestline; her grandson Mike & Stephanie Varga, Mobile, AL; her granddaughter Joy & Joel Cochran, Bellville; three great-granddaughters Katie Cochran, Alli Varga, Kalee Varga; four great-grandsons Will Cochran, Josh Cochran, David Cochran and Ethan Varga; two sisters Naomi Prout, Crestline and Grace Wilson, Pennsauken, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her brother Emerson Kaler, her sister Mary Sutter and her brother-in-law John Wilson.

Friends may call Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund Online condolences may be made to the family at masfh.com.

Hello,
I am Joseph William Kaler, my father was Joseph Elmer Kaler, my grandfather was also Joseph William Kaler, and my great grandfather was Joseph Franklin Kaler. To take this further, I have a son, Joseph Troy Kaler, and a grandson Joseph Tanner Kaler. Yes, we are decendants of Joseph and Mary Bonney Kaler.

My name is Thomas Kaler and I am a direct decendant of Ludwig (Lewis) Kaler, born about 1755, died about 1820 in Rowan County, North Carolina. Ludwig is believed to have been German.

I am uncertain if I am a direct descendent however I am a descendent of a Henry Kaler I believe George b.1877, father was Henry Kaler. But the 1900 Census does not show his wife. I assume they were either divorced or he was a Widower. I do not seen to find him on any earlier census index.

Researching a branch of my family that lived in Arizona, then moved to Los Angeles County, California in the 1930's or 1940's. James A. Kaler (b. 1874, d. 1946) married to Emma C. Gardner (b. 1877, d. 1974). Their children were James Floyd Kaler (b. 1912, d. 1979), Carroll Kaler(b. 1917, d.?), and Denzil Kaler (b. 1919, d. 1990). James Floyd Kaler married Alyce Marie Humphrey (b. 1916, d. 1995). Their children are Katrina Louise Kaler (b. 1952) and Kristie M. Kaler (b. 1958).

Hello Fellow KALER posters!

Though this is NOT my direct line, I am trying to contact any KALER family that may be related to George F. & Martha COLVIN KALER. Both were born in Indiana, moved to Oakley, Logan, Kansas and finally to Arapaho County, Colorado. Thier children, born variously between 1894 to 1908, for the most part seemed to stay in Logan county, Kansas.
One child, Minnie Belle KALER, married my uncle Richard SLACK. They lived in Long Beach, California. My uncle Richard had 2 daughters by a previous marriage, Norma Dixie & Gladys SLACK. I am trying to find this Slack family and am hoping the KALER family had or kept in touch with this side of their family. I know they were on good terms with the SLACK's and may have even adopted or raised "Dixie" and "Glad".
Please, this is a desparation hunt. Any help would be most appreciated!

Hello, I saw your message on the Ancestry.com message board and I would like to put together a famliy tree for you if you are still interested. Interestingly, I believe I did one for one of your distant relatives a few years ago, he was descended from a Cornelius Kaler, but not sure if you are related yet. I do not charge an exorbitant fee for this service, nor do I charge by the hour. I do a book presentation for you, usually I charge $150, but I will do it for $100 total cost...I have a website you can visit for more information. I love doing research and escpecially family genealogy. The charge basically just covers the cost of materials, computer ink, etc. I make a small amount on it, but it is more the work I enjoy.

Charles and Mary (________) Kaler

Found the following names on three white marble gravestones in South Waldoboro, Maine. These three stones had, for about 45 years, been laying flat in a back field and totally forgotten. Recently, I refound them, as these stones were nearly covered in mulch and humus and one would never have known they were there.
My query is, I would like to know the maiden name of Mary.
