Thank you so much. It must be nice to be in China. I would love to go there! It sounds like you will be there for more than just a visit. I wish that someone would make a movie of her life story. She was such a giver. There aren't too many people like her. I wish that I knew more details about her life. Thank you so much. I hope that I will someday be able to visit China. Brian

I met Michael about 25 years ago and we had a delightful talk. He wrote a biography of his adoptive mother's life. I have a copy and I think it is available in print. I think it was a Methodist publication. I am in China right now, but in a few months will be able to put my hands on the copy I own and get you an ISBN number.

You can fax/mail a request to NARA/St Louis for his military file. Specifically ask for his enlistment document - it will show where he enlisted along with names of his adopted parents and addresses. Also request a list of duty stations as this will show where he was based throughout his career. You don't need to be a NOK to receive this info.

Michael Kan was born in China in about 1925, adopted by a missionary from the US, and moved to the US where he joined to USAF in about 1957. I believe he spent 20 or 30 years in the Air Force, but I am not sure. Is there anyway to find any information about his life? Please help me find out more about him. Thank you.
Michael Kan was born in China in 1925. He was adopted by an American missionary named Cornelia Morgan. Michael moved to the U.S. in 1951 with Miss Morgan and joined the U.S. Air Force. He died in Orange County, California, in 2005. I need to find out if he has any relatives around anywhere. I would like to find out more about him and Miss Morgan. Thank you Brian

On my maternal side, there was a Peter Kreutzer from Germany. I understood he homesteaded in Iowa. Had 2 daughters - 1 eventually lived in Chicago - school teacher. Peter had a wooden leg. basically, that is all I know about Peter. His brother, Gabriel was my gr grandfather - came from Gensingen, Germany - near Bingen on Rhine.

There is also a Peter in our family. Supposedly, he went to Iowa - had a wooden leg.

The family were involved with the wine business - grew grapes and made the wine. Family kept referring to Bingen on the Rhine. A brother of Gabriel was an organist and stayed at home.

Glad that you responded again. I feel there must be a connection.

My gr grandfather, Gabriel was born in 1828. His son, Gabriel, Jr. was born in 1850 in NYC. Their other sons were Charles, Edward, Gustave, John, and Otto. Their were 5 daughters of which my grandmother was one (Elisabetha).

Their are babes or youn children buried with my gr grandparents in NY Bay Cemetery in NJ that I could not completely identify. One is born to a Gabriel and Christine - 21 days old and buried Feb. 1874. I am working on others.

When I entered this program, I went to the KREUTZER listing. I never knew it existed - many messages there.

I will get back to you again. I must get my files out on this family.

rita, thanks for getting in touch but somewhere we are probably in the same family. I have a letter to Gabriel from his brother George stating that he was inheriting a certain amount of wine. Gensingen is full of wine. Now, my ggf was born either 1849 0r 41. His children were George, 1869, Louis(my gf) 1874, Gabriel 1876, Josephine 1879 and I believe there was a Johan or John. there were also Johanna and Susanna both dying as infants. My Gabriel is listed in the 1870 census in NYC age 28 and married to Margaret age 21. In 1869 in the NYC directory there were 3Gabriel Kreutzers listed. Are you by any chance related to the Gabriel born in 1876? Let me know.

Rita your message of a year ago, June, was exciting. My great grandfather was also Gabriel and he was from Gensingen bei Bingen. I visited a year and a half ago and am returning this May with a friend who speaks German. I doubt if we have the same great grandfather but we may be related. I took photos in the cemetery and there were two Peter Kreutzers buried there, one 1907 and the other 1925.
My great grandfather Gabriel remained in New York City and married Margaretha Gick. He had a brother Georg in Gensingen that I know of. If you see this please get in touch.
