Patrick Kanary - Grandfather

My gf, Patrick John Kanary came to the USA from Ireland when he was 15 years old. He was born Mar. 3, 1885. He ended up in Indianapolis, Indiana via what route is unknown to me. He married my gm Eva Holmes there. He lived with Robert & Annice Gizzel when he first arrived in Indanapolis. As a youth he got stepped on by a horse and all but his tumb and first finger was missing on his right hand as a result of that accident. If anyone has any information about his family in Ireland I'd greatly appreciate it.

Barb

Patrick KANARY, Ireland to USA abt 1870

My gggrandfather was also named Patrick KANARY. He was married to an Alice PURTLE. They had at least one child - my ggrandmother Mary Ann KANARY. It is believe that Patrick and Alice were from Ireland, but Mary Ann was born in England in Sept 1864. They arrived in the U.S. around 1872 and eventually settled in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Does any of this ring any bells?

Kanary

My great grandfather was Owen Kanavey/Kanavy. His name has been spelled Kanary in the 1870 Census. He was born in Ireland, Co Galway in 1835 and came to the US in 1866. He was a coal miner in NE Pennsylvania, died circa 1887. The name is standardized as Kinneavy. It is spelled in various records of my grandfather as Kanavy, Kinavy, Kenavy, Keaneavy, Kinneavy, etc.All pronounced the same. The 1870 census was hand written and the "e" was written as an "r". Hence Kanary. J Kanavy
