Kays from Scotland

My g-g grandmother was Jessie Kay. She came from Coatbridge I was told, but surely she came from Lanarkshire county. I am unsure of her d.o.b. but think it somewhere between 1860-1875. She married Alexander Mill and they had 12 children:
James, killed in WW1
george
Alexander, emigrated to Las Vegas
Jessie, b 1884, d 1963
elizabeth
isabella
lillian
cecilia b 1882 (my g-grandmother)
jeannie (died in childbirth)
margaret, lived in Boness, Scotland

If anyone sees a possible connection, please e-mail me georgej@execulink.com

Ellen,

I would love to know of any connections, I have since discovered that Jessie kay's Parents were George Kay and Sarah (nee) Causlin. George was a baker. The only sibling I can find when I search the LDS website is a brother, James b. 1861 in Hamilton. Jessie was born in 1858 in Hamilton. I know that they did live in Coatbridge, according to my grandmother. When I searched your Alfred, this is what I found:
Alfred Ernest KAY
Sex: M

Event(s):
Birth: 1 Jun 1869
Central District, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

Parents:
Father: James KAY
Mother: Jessie SLOSS

isnt it interesting that James Kay pops up again? and Jessie? Hmmmm ....I am really hoping there is a connection. Let me know what you think, maybe we can do some brainstorming.

Best,
Heather

You have given me hope of learning more about my Kays. I was told by a now deceased cousin that the family was wealthy. Unfortuately, my grandfather Kay was taken by his mother to South Africa, and I only have whatever I can learn from others. I will continue to look, and retain your info to be in touch if I learn more. I am thrilled with your contribution. Thanks, Ellen

Hi Heather,
I tried emailing you at the address you provided but it bounced back. Your great great grandmother Jessie Kay and my great grandmother Jeannie Kay were sisters. You and I share ancestors in George Kay and Sarah Causlin (Couslin, Cowslem, McAuslind, McAuslan...there are several spellings for that family). Jeannie died in 1959. I had a great aunt Jessie, likely named after your gg grandmother. I'm in Toronto so if you get this it would be good to get in touch. I have also been in touch with a fellow who is related to another brother in that family, David.
cheers
