1. ? b abt 1840 in King & Queen Co marr Rebecca A. Penney. Need his name & the names of their parents & siiblings. Rebecca was also 1st marr to John F. Parker son of Philip Parker & Mary Ann Lankford. Also need chidlren by her marr to John.
2. Adonijale b abt 1800 in Pittsylvania Co marr Catherine Rosson 11 May 1821. She was the dau of Joseph Rosson Sr. & Molly of Culpeper Co. Also need children for Adonijale & Catherine.
3. Alma G. b abt 1880 in King William Co marr Llewellyn E. Reed. Need parents & siblings for them. Their dau Maryy Ellen b 7 Sep 1907 marr Marvin Purcell Farmer I. 9 Apr 1933. He was the son of Robert Farmer I. & Lillian Mae Donahoe. Have 4 children for Marvin & Mary.
4. James b abt 1800 in Essex. Need his parents & siblings & his wife's name & her parents & siblings. Their dau Ann E. b abt 1820 marr Richard Gouldman 2 Nov 1841. Also need Richard's parents & siblings. Richard & Ann's son John H. b abt 1847 marr Emily A. Gouldman 1 Oct 1868. She was the dau of Asa Gouldman & Emily Dishman. Need children for John & Emily.
5. Luther Trice b abt 1880 in Caroline marr Mattie D. Wright. Need parents & siblings for them. Have 10 children for Luther & Mattie.
6. Edward b abt 1800 Essex ( probably brother to James # 4 ) marr Lucinda Bates. Need their parents & siblings. Their son William W. b abt 1824 marr Margaret A. Pilkington 28 Nov 1865. Need children for them. She was the dau of Edmund or Edward Pilkington & Arabella Dishman.
7. John Robert b abt 1920 in Caroline marr Marie McGrory. Need parents & siblings for them. Have 2 dau's for John & Marie.
8. James b abt 1810 in Caroline mrr Mary Pare/Parr dau of Thomas Pare/Parr & Mary. Need parents & siblings for James & children for him & Mary.
9. Richard b abt 1810 in Caroline ( may be brother to James # 8 ) marr Sally Parr sister to Mary who marr James. Need his parents & siblings. They had a son James b abt 1830. Have no info on him or other of his siblings.
10. William b abt 1830 in Essex Co marr Martha E. Need her last name & their parents & siblings. Have 2 sons for William & Martha.
11. Lucy Ann b abt 1820 in Essex marr Edmund Taylor 12 Nov 1846. Need their paretns & siblings. Their son Leroy b abt 1854 in Caroline Co marr Nannie Reid 15 Nov 1877. She was the dau of John Reid & Mary E. Clarke of Essex. Also need children for Leroy & Nannie. Any info appreciated.

Kay - Bilston

Does anyone have any info on the Kay family from Bilston. On some census forms the name looks as though it is written as Keay because of the way they did fancy flicks in there writing in those days. I am looking for more info on William Kay and his wife Ann, they had a Son William born 1813( I know of all the whereabouts of this William )and I think a daughter called Mary Ann.

William Kay - Bilston

I am researching William Kay Born 1813 and Baptised at Bilston - his father and mother were William and Ann Kay born round about 1790ish I would think - But I cannot seem to be able to find any more info, I have looked at the Pallotts marriages and baptisms for them but cannot find anything for Bilston. I have found a few Kay's from Bilston but they have not lead me anywhere as yet. Could anyone help at all.

I beleive my wife, Linda Reid is related to Betty Kay - Betty married Henry Houghton. Linda was born in Tottington - are you from that area as well? my tree is on ancestry as well as on genes connected. I find lancashire research really difficult mainly becasue I am so far away ( Essex) but also becasue there are fewer name variations in lancashire . how long have you been doing this?

It has long been stated in my wife's family, that her Grand mother Fanny Kay was a descendant of John (1704). Her brothers / sister being Thomas 1868, James 1870, Richard 1878 and Eliza Ann 1882. Her father John Kay married Elizabeth in 1864 both born in St. Helens and married there.
Can anyone assist with any links.

I tried emailing you at the address you provided but it bounced back. Your great great grandmother Jessie Kay and my great grandmother Jeannie Kay were sisters. You and I share ancestors in George Kay and Sarah Causlin (Couslin, Cowslem, McAuslind, McAuslan...there are several spellings for that family). Jeannie died in 1959. I had a great aunt Jessie, likely named after your gg grandmother. I'm in Toronto so if you get this it would be good to get in touch. I have also been in touch with a fellow who is related to another brother in that family, David.

Hi, my great grandfather Robert Hagan born in Co Down, Northern Ireland was married to Gustav and Sophia Le Droit's daughter Carolena born in 1894. They lived in Dawson County, Nebraska. Siblings were Amy born 1891, Emme M born 1895, Esther B born 1897, Dewey J born 1898, Hypolate F born 1900 and Polly H born 1901. Robert and Carolena also known as Lena had two daughters Emme born 1918 and Evelyn born 1923. Robert and Lena lived in Twin Falls, Idaho until they died in 1976 and 1977. I have their wedding photograph and also a few of their daughters and of themselves in later years. Although not a blood relative I would be interested to know the background of great grandfathers second wife's family. I also have info on Dewey's family. Hope this is of use. Regards.

Have finally managed to find out Martha's surname; Walton which has opened her side of the tree.
Just trying now to ascertain what happened to James as he went off the grid when she died, also his family as there were so many James Kays born in that area and in that year.

Hi - just found your post and I think I might know a connection. In 1841 Speakman Mee and Emma are lodging with Joseph and Dinah Higson (nee Kay), Hammer St, Lowton, near Lane Head. Joseph and Dinah were married in 1816 in Winwick, but I have not yet been able to find where Dinah came from. However, the fact that she was a Kay might indicate she is related to Emma. I searched for Speakman on Ancestry and discovered it is transcribed in a number of different ways - I thought it said Ince in 1841, but that did not throw up any esults so I just searched for Speakman....Anyway, if anyone else can throw any light on this group of Kays I would be delighted to hear from them.

I have Ann or Nancy Kay married to Richard Heys in 1780,they had a daughter Betty who married James Aldred 1804.
That's all I know up to now about Ann Kay I haven't found a birth for her yet.
Ann and Richard are my 4th great grandparents.

If you get one of the childrens birth certificates it will give the mothers maiden name.You can then find the marriage of james kay and martha.by cross referencing...unfortunately the children were botn before mothers maiden name was on the birth index.Also the marriage index at that time doesnt give the spouses surname.I looked on freebmd.org.uk but no james marrying a martha there so getting Jesse's birth cert? is the key. It will also give james' job.the marriage cert will open a whole new raft of info..both fathers and jobs, witnesses etc..

Their children were: George Edwin and Mary Alice. Mary Alice, it is said, was an opera singer at the NY Met. Anyone with connections?

I am looking for more information on Hortense Kay, my grandmother (that's my mother's mother), and her family. I know that she is the youngest sibling.

Her siblings were: Mignon b. 1892 d. 1969, Julian b. 1895 d. 1940, Rosella b. 1897 d. 1974 , Jeffrie b. 1898 d. 1979, Fedora b. 1902 d. 1986, James b. 1905, and Rita b. 1907 d. 1981. Mignon was married to Raymond Vincent Borleske. Rosella was married to Oscar Sando. Fedora was married to Jack Kjos. James was married to Marion. Rita was married to Roy Goddard. and Hortense was married to Louis Arthur Bjermeland. Hortense was born in either 1909 or 1910 and died in either 1954 or 1955.

I do have some of the names of their children that my mom told me about as well. I also have a marriage certificate of Ada Rebekah Kay (daugther of Jacob Kay) and Lorenzo Spyer de Besa (son of Joseph Spyer de Besa), married on September 6, 1914 in the district of St. Martin, county of London in England. More than likely, Ada Rebekah Kay was a sibling of Hortense's father. Ada Rebekah Kay was 35 in 1914 and that would place her birth year in 1879, unless she was born after September 6th.

This side of my family is mostly Polish, with a little Russian and maybe German, probably from Poland. They may have moved from Poland to England at some point before coming into the United States. I believe all of Hortense's siblings were born in the United States, and they all lived most of their lives and died in Washington State. Her father may have been an Isaac Kay and her mother a Rebecca.

Update to this Post, I am still looking for any information on this family, though I have a few extra bits to add.
James Kay(born sometime in the 1770's) was married to Margaret. They had William Kay in 1795 Newcastle upon Tyne. William married Mary Ann Kidd(parents were John & Maria Kidd) in 1819 Holy Trinity Church, Hull Yorkshire, they had the following children.

- Margaret b. 1821 Boston Lincolnshire
- William James b. 1823 Boston Lincolnshire
- James William b. 1826 Hull Yorkshire
- Caroline b. 1831 Barton upon Humber Lincoln
- Emma b. 1835 Hull Yorkshire

Caroline had a son Alfred Charles Martin in 1850(Bermondsey London)

James married Caroline Budden and had 2 children James(1857) & Florence Caroline(1859)

Emma married Edward Polhill and had 5 children, James(1864), Florence(1871), Kate(1872), Edward(1874), Frederick(1876)

William died in Bermondsey in 1854, Mary died 3 years later in 1857.

I am looking for the father of (James Kay born 1903 in Charters Towers Queensland Australia. James became a station hand on sheep properties out in the west of Queenland and remained in Queensland until his death. I am of the belief that his father was also James and may have married a Beatrice Bragg in Charters Towers in the 1900.

Hi,
I am researching my fathers side of the family tree ie KAY and have come to a brick wall with regards to James Kay born 1879 in Bury Lancashire.
He was married to a Martha, maiden name unknown but born in Patricroft Lancashire circa 1879 and died circa 1910.
They had four children: Doris 1901, Norman 1907, Mabel 1910 and Jesse 1904-1981 my Grandfather. Children all born in Patricroft as well.
I have the 1901 census and the 1911 census showing James as a widower.
There are quite a few James Kays born in this area but I cannot tie any up with mine for certain nor can I find anymore out about his marriage nor Martha's maiden name or children apart from Jesse and have thus come to a full stop.
Is there anyone at all who might be able to help with my search?

Isaac Kay, M.D., of Springfield Ohio, published a Kay Family Record in 1878. Dr. Kay indicated in a letter written in approximately 1907 that he had letters from his great-uncle William Kay of Hopewell Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania and authoritative manucript papers from relatives in southwestern Ohio. [Brown and Highland Counties]

Dr. Kay used this material to prepare the Kay Family Record. Mrs. Julian C. Lane used Dr. Kay's information in her book, Key and Allied Families, published in 1931.

Dr. Kay was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1828. He died on September 20, 1920 in Springfield, Ohio.

William Kay, who was Dr. Kay's great-uncle, died on February 26, 1841 in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. He is buried in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Dr. Kay practiced medicine in Springfield, Ohio. He had two sons, Charles S. Kay and Clarence H. Kay. Based on U.S. Census records, it does not appear that Clarence H. Kay (born October 28, 1856, died August 24, 1930) and his wife, Florence, had any children.

Charles S. Kay (born November 4, 1853, died September 20, 1920) and his wife, Belle, had the following children:

Clarence M. Kay, Son 26*
Edith W. Kay, Daughter 24*
Clara Belle Kay, Daughter 19*
Charles R. (Robert) 14*
Florence Kay, Daughter 11*
George W. Kay, Son 9*
*Age in 1920

Clarence M. Kay died on January 24, 1930. Charles R.(Robert) Kay died on February 12, 1939. Florence Kay died on April 30, 1933.

I would like to determine if any heirs of Isaac Kay, M.D., have copies of the material (described above) that Dr. Kay used to prepare the Kay Family Record. Thank you.

I am looking for information regarding Zacheus Key (Kay) [b. 1725]. Zacheus Kay (Key) resided in Chester [Kennett Township] and Lancaster [Little Britain Township] Counties, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah George at Old Swedes Church in Wilmington, Delaware in September of 1748.

Zacheus and Sarah Kay (Key) had five children:

Jehu (never married). Jehu resided in Cecil County, Maryland.

George (married Martha Simmons at Old Swedes Church
in Wilmington, Delaware on 5/25/1775). George and his wife resided in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth (never married). Elizabeth resided in Cecil County, Maryland.

Hannah (never married). Hannah resided in Cecil County,
Maryland.

Rebecca (married John Brabson). Rebecca and her husband,
a farmer, resided in Little Britain, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

There are some records with her name. Then it appears that by 1999, they have added Decd by her name, which I take to mean she was deceased. No death record came up for her at this county, but I can't find her on the social security death index either.

Hello,

I'm trying to find my aunt's Danguole Kay (Malevskaite) and John Kay (Jonas Kaladauskas) family in USA.

They have three children:
- son MARTIN KAY;
- son DARIUS KAY;
- daughter RAMUNE KAY (maybe now she get married and change surname).

Some time they lived in Florida. Later go to Chicago, MI or to this area.

As I know Danguole Kay died in 2001-2002 and burried in Chicago lithuanians cemetry (Sv.Kazimiero).

Please help me.

John was a gardener,Annie Lavinia born in Melbourne Yorks looking for any info. Ada Elizabeth, born 1881. Married Herbert Luckock in 1905 and the Willian Wroe in 1913, any info on the males would be good.

I have a copy of the baptism for James Kay. He was born 25 Feb 1838 and baptised in St Quivox, Ayrshire on 5 Aug 1838. He was illegitimate. His parents were Elizabeth Davidson and Thomas Kay, a Country Servant. It doesn't say his parents were "of the church", which it says for all the other baptisms, so I think that means they didn't live in the parish.

The reason I have this information is that my own g-grandfather was born in the same year in Ayr, and at first I got the 2 James Kays mixed up.

I copied this information a long time ago, so can't expand on it. The 1841 census has James living with 2 Davison women (his grandmother and aunt, probably) in
Newton on Ayr, Halls Vennel with occupants including

Catherine Davison age 55 Lint yarn spinner, born outside Ayrshire
Margaret Davison age 19 born outside Ayrshire
Margaret Sybel age 19 Female servant born Ayrshire
James Kay, age 3 born Ayrshire
May McFee age 55 Tutoress born Ayrshire

Any details available re deaths, burials etc of James and Rosetta Kay? Was his father identified by name?
Any knowledge as to his Military Career (Chelsea Pensioner) before he become a gardener?
Has anything else come to light re his Ayr background (remembering that in 1851 his grandmother was stated to be an Irish born Catherine Davison?)
In 1851 he was residing next door to my own Kay relatives and the future husband of my 2 x great grandmother was lodging with him and his gran. All too much of a coincidence, family ties must have existed.
My Kays are connected also to a Mills family from Killinchy area, Down, Ireland.
