Looking for Photos of Baltimore/Fallston Maryland Kearneys

Hello. I am Evan Kearney (b. 1987) and I am in search of photographs from other Kearneys in my ancestral line. The main person[s] that I am descended from would be:

-Patrick Michael Kearney (1828-1882) + Mary E. Bradley (1832-1911)

Their son and his wife:

-Dennis J Kearney (1866-1922) + Mary E. Kerney (1866-?)

The people I am interested in having photos of would be Dennis, his father, his siblings, and any other close family.

I am the great grandson of Dennis' son Andrew J. C. Kearney (Francis - Patrick - Dennis - Andrew J. C. - Paul - Thomas - me) and have plenty of photos of him, his seven children, and all of their family. But it is Andrew J. C.'s parents' generation that I don't have. The reason is that Andrew's sister Marie died at the old age of 92 (or around there) and when she died, all the relatives scrambled through the photo album she had and took what they wanted. So I don't have very many photos of the "older" Kearney lineage since my grandfather (Andrew's youngest son, Paul Kearney) didn't get his hands on too many of the photos.

This means so much to me, so thanks a million in advance!

I see in 1880 there is a Francis O'Boyle... living next to Michael... his occupation... tin smith.... probably they guy who developed the lamp. Michael is probably his father... age is right.... Francis was born in PA... Michael in Ireland.
I have to go now... but in the 1860 census..it lists Francis and a brother Micheal... need to look for the younger Michael

Boy, if you find out anything... let me know. My husband's ancestor, Patrick Kearney married Mary O'Boyle (around 1847). In the 1850 census there is an Anthony O'Boyle living with them. I assume that this is her brother. A few houses down there is a Michael O'Boyle who is about 4 years younger than Anthony. Could be a brother or cousin? they were living in Blakely at the time. In 1860 Anthony is about 41 with a family and a few children.... I have not done much work on the O'Boyles. Anthony and Michael appear to be laborers... so perhaps the brothers are sons of one of them... I also see a James O'Boyle in the area... in 1870.. also a laborer. If I find anymore I will let you know... if you could do the same.

I am Ward Lape b. 06/27/46. My mother was Margaret Teresa Kearney b. 07/28/1925. Her father was Thomas J. Kearney (NYC Police Dept) b. 10/22/1902. His father was William Kearney b. Ireland 12/22/1873, (NY longshoreman); his parents were Thomas Kearney from Dungannon married Catherine Barrett (known as Kate). They had seven children in birth order:

Patrick Kearney
b. 01/04/1865

John Kearney (came to NY in 1892 and petitioned William)
b. 06/23/1866 (I think this is the father of Thomas the lawyer)

Ellen Kearney
b. 11/22/1868

Thomas Kearney
b. 08/29/70

Mary Catherine Kearney (came to NY and lived in Brooklyn)
b. 01/14/72

William Kearney (came to NY in 1896; my great grandfather)
b. 12/22/1873

James Kearney (came to NY in 1898; living with John in 1900 census)
b. 06/26/1876

My brother Jeffrey is a geanologist and is working on our Kearney family tree and can also be of assistance.

Who is your relative above? Who is your father? And who is your cousin?

I remember Uncle Tom Kearney, an attorney in Wall Street back in the late 1950's, early 1960's who lived in Brooklyn.

Happy to assist as we can.

Helpful: In US records we are Kerney, Carney, Kearny and Kearney, depending upon the immigration officer, the listener, the census taker and the speaker (and his accent), so when checking we must always finally search all four variations of the name.

Reacently we found a break in the 1920 census for our family of Kearney under Carney. Go figure.

We have family from here many generations who returned to study and live in Ireland.

Best regards,

Ward

They apparently manufactured some oil wick mining head lamps of which I own one and was trying to find out more about them. Can you direct me to anone who might know? This tin oil wick lamp would have been made probably around 1880.
Thanks,
Anthony

Do you know the townland of your Edward Kearney?
My gg/father John Maxwell Kearney was born in 1841 and came from Armagh which is not that far from Crossmaglen. His family were from Mullyloughran townland, just out of city of Armagh, County Armagh. I am interested because John Maxwell Kearney went from Ireland to Illinois after he married and three children were born there. He had a relation that was an 'engineer' on the railroad, but I dont know the reason why they went to Illinois before they Eventually they settled in New Zealand. I do not have any records with the name Richard, but have a Bernard back in the 1700s. This may not be of any help!!

My great great grandmother was Bridget Kearney, b. late 1850s in Magherafelt. Her parents were John Kearney and Margaret Larkin. Bridget emigrated to New York City abt 1873. She lived in the West Village neighborhood and worked as a silk weaver before marrying Thomas Curley in 1880. A number of other Kearneys and Larkins from Derry lived in the area, including saloon keeper Felix Larkin, whom I believe was Bridget's cousin. Her sister Elizabeth "Lizzie" Kearney (b. 1866 in Magherafelt) emigrated to New York around the 1880s and married James Tunney. I've found birth records for two brothers of theirs, John Kearney (b. 1870) and James Kearney (b. 1873), but I have no idea where the two ended up. They may have remained in Ireland. Anyway, just wondering if any of these Kearneys are connected to the other Magherafelt Kearneys discussed in this thread. Please let me know if you have any info.

They had a saloon at 921 Branch St. I cannot find anything on the Kearneys- Edward , specifically. I heard that they owned the Dollhouse saloon- everyone in the family was in the liquor business.....

I am a grandson of Agnes O'Brien and recently started to research my heritage. My mothers name was Gerardine and she was one of 5 children of James W.Kearney & Agnes O'Brien. I traveled to California in the mid 80's with my family and met John (Jack) O'Brien who was the youngest of all the children. We stayed overnight at his place and he gave my son a cribbage board. We started to coorespond, but unfortunately he died within a year. I know that he had several children from his first wife. Does this sound like your relative?

There was a Thomas Kearney arrived in Hobart from Norfolk Island IN 1808 with his mother Catherine and older brother William on "The Lady Nelson". Catherine then had a dairy in Argyle Street Hobart. Both boys eventually moved to properties in Richmond.
Searching for siblings or ancestors re the following:

Michael Cusack, born circa 1800 married Margaret Kearney, born circa 1800
Both from Ireland- possibly Mayo or Meath, though this is just through family memory not documents.

Michael Cusack and Margaret Kearney had three sons that I know of, but with the gaps in their birth dates I imagine I am missing some children:

Patrick born circa 1825 (married Fanny/Francis Lavery)
James born 1835 (married Jane Lynett)
Michael born 1845 (married Elizabeth Hughes)

The above children were also born in Ireland, but Patrick and Michael moved to Scotland, and James moved to England.

Any help with this family would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Marie Claire Kearney SSJ
She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Marie Claire Kearney, SSJ, 87, of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania, died on February 11, 2011. She was in her 69th year of religious life. Born in Bradford, Pennsylvania on January 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Genevieve and William Kearney, she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph from St. Bernard Parish, Bradford on February 2, 1943 and professed her final vows on August 15, 1948. As she celebrated her 60th Jubilee in 2002, Sister Marie Claire attributed the powerful influence of the Sisters of St. Joseph when they taught her a t St. Bernard School in Bradford, PA as what led her to join the Congregation. Sister Marie Claire had strong loyalties to family, her Irish heritage, Saint Vincent Health Center and her Congregation. She traveled four times to Ireland and especially loved visiting Kate Kearney 's cottage. Her wit was well known and much appreciated. Sister earned a diploma in nursing from Saint Vincent School of Nursing and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Villa Maria College, Erie. She studied at the Medical Ethics Institute at St. John University, New York, N.Y. Sister Marie Claire served at Saint Vincent Health Center, Erie, for 52 years in various capacities: senior vice-president, assistant administrator and director of the operating room and central supply/inhalation therapy. While in charge of the operating room physicians knew 'she ruled' and were compliant rather than disagreeing with her! She served the Congregation as councilor for personnel; a past member of the formation team; a councilor for community life and was active in several Chapters of Affairs. In addition, she spent ten years teaching at Villa Maria College, Erie. Sister Marie Claire retired from active ministry in 1996 and most recently resided at the Villa Maria Community Living Center in Erie In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Kearney, a sister, Patricia Pockey and a niece Mary Kearney. She is survived by a brother Tom (Lois) Schillinger and nieces Mary (Monte) Behan, Julie Tsepelis, Kate DeFazio, Jill (Andy) Pecora, Marie (Mitch) Malecki, Kathy (Tom) Haight, Ann Kearney (Blaise Wick), Jill (John) Murphy and nephews John (Kim) Pockey, Steve Kearney, Dick (Barbara) Kearney, Dan (Becky) Kearney, Dave (Ann) Kearney, John (Tammy) Kearney and Bill (Sheri) Kearney, David (Jennifer) Schillinger and Tommy (Jamie) Schillinger.
"I am surprised that if you were adopted that the birth record wasn't amended."

The birth record was amended to reflect my adopted name. Other documents that my adoptive parents procured showed my birth name. Not sure if that is what you were surprised about.

John and Joseph Kearney Chicago Illinois

Hi,

On Family Search.org, I found a death record for Joseph P. Kearney. He was born on 1 Feb, 1869 in Chicago, Illinois and died on 31 Dec 1943 in Chicago. On the death record, his father was John Kearney who was born in Glin, Limerick, Ireland. His mother was Margaret Roche who was also born in Limerick, Ireland.

There is also a death record for John J. Kearney, brother to Joseph. He was born on 29 Jan 1866 in Chicago and died, 20 May 1935 also in Chicago. His parents are also John J. Kearney and Margaret Roche.

My Kearney family also came from Glin, Limerick, Ireland. My 3x great grandfather was John Kearney born about 1819 in Glin and settled in Maine in 1843.

Just wondering if anyone is searching the Kearney Family in Chicago and if they would like to exchange notes.

Thank you, Liz

Several Kearney families spread out in County Mayo, but I think we have accounted for most of our immediate family. Our Michael Kearney had sisters and brothers further back in time,(early 1800's) and I have not researched their destiny.
They were wool weavers in Carrowbeg South, County Mayo, Ireland.

I just started creating a search on the Kearney family. Your posting about James Kearney of Scranton, PA caught my attention. Yes, I have James married to Bridget Malloy from Irelend. The children esp, James is my gg grandfather married to Mary Jane O'Hara. My father is their son.
I have been interested in learning where in Ireland. It sounds like we are members of the same family, different children connection.
I don't know that I have anymore info than you. I don't know where to go other than Ireland. I have that James is from County Sligo, Ireland & Bridget is County Mayo, Ireland. I do not have married date. I have 11 April 1885 date of death for James in Dunmore, PA....maybe St Mary's.
