Re: Help Finding Info on Albert Kendall of KY b. 1831

Hello--I like to play detective and have been doing some searching for you. Here's a couple of things I've found:
1. In the 1870 census Houston TX Amelia who was the wife of Albert Kuz Kendall has remarried to James H Triglow. In the household is Mary Munson-14, Albert Kendall-12, James Kendall-7.
2. In the Munson Family Message Board on Rootsweb, the message re: "Asa Munson 1845-1917" contains several items including this: "Emelia Munson of Terrebonne Parish (Marcelyn & Zealaide Bonvillain) m. 22 May 1856 Albert Kendall from David County in Kentucky."
I believe this is your Albert Kendall b.1831 Kentucky. There is no David County in KY, but there is Daviess County.
3. Here is a possibility for a connection: Enoch Kendall b.abt1790 d.1859 Daviess Co KY. He was married: (1)abt 1805 to unknown; (2)15 Aug 1815 to Rebecca Beauchamp;(3)? Martha Berry. A child of the 2nd marriage was named Albert G Kendall--probably not your Albert Kuz Kendall. In this Kendall ancestry is a Frances Ann Kendall who m.1732 to Capt Thomas Berry a Revolutionary War soldier. This info comes largely from the "Kendall Genealogy" by Hazel Kendall an unpublished ms of 1965 on file at Madison County Historical Soc, Anderson, IN.
I'll search some more to see if I can pin down Albert Kuz Kendall to his ancestors. I think the BERRY connection may prove useful, as in your James Berry Kendall--if the Berry connection can be found, maybe Kuz can be found too. But the above will give you something to go on in the meantime. Good luck, Fred in Folsom CA

Hello there,
I am the grandaughter of James Allen Kendall(b.1916), son of James Berry Kendall (b.1862) both of Houston Tx. I am desperatley searching for James Berry's father.
On James Berry's death certificate Albert Kendall of Ky. is listed as his father, Amelia Bergeron is his mother.
However in my search the only thing I can find for an Albert Kendall b. 1831 (+/-) is an Muster Roll Card for an Albert "Kuz" Kendall in 1861. I have a good reason to think this might be him, but I can't find any other documents with his name on it...not a birth certificate, census or anything. James Berry did have an older brother named Albert Kendall who was about 3 years older than him, and drops off any census forms between 1870 and 1880.
Please help!
Hi,

My Kendalls were from Tamworth in England. They were bricklayers. They moved from Tamworth in the mid 1800s to Coventry, Warwickshire. My ggg grandfather was a Charles Kendall.

I don't know whether there is a connection or not.

Arthur and Thomas were two common names in the family. My g grandfather was Thomas Kendall. He was born in Foleshill in Coventry.

jtedmunds@frontier.com

KENDALL'S

I BELIEVE I HAVE FIGURED SOMETHING OUT ABOUT KENARD KENDALL, HIS REAL NAME IS JAMES KENARD KENDALL, WHO WAS THE SON OF WILLIAM AND SECE BROWN BOTH OF THEM BORNED IN STAFFORD COUNTY, VA. HIS FATHER WAS ONCE THE LARGEST LAND OWNER IN NELSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY. HIS BROTHERS ARE AS FOLLOWS, BENJAMIN, HELI, JACOB, JEREMIAH AND THOMPSON.....I JUST FOUND OUT THIS TODAY BY LOOKING AT WHERE ALL THESE KENDALL'S WERE WHEN THEY EITHER WERE VISITING, LIVING OR DYING IN THE AREAS STATED IN SEVERAL OF THEIR WILLS AND LAND OWED BY THEM. ON MY ANCESTRY I HAVE STATED THAT THOMPSON KENDALL WAS MARRIED TO A ABIGAIL FLOYD, BUT I HAVE SEVERAL PROBLEMS THAT SHOW THOMPSON WOULD OF BEEN OVER 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ABIGAIL. DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW IF ABBEY WAS HIS WIFE OR WAS HIS WIFE NAMED MARGARET (SHACKLETT) KENDALL? THE THOMPSON KENDALL THAT WAS BORN IN NELSON COUNTY KENTUCKY IN THE YEAR 1808 AND THE OTHER ONE I HAVE IN MY TREE WAS BORN IN JULY OF 1799 IN VA. I NEED TO KNOW IF THESE ARE THE SAME PERSON OR WHAT. I AM TRYING SO HARD TO MAKE SURE ALL THIS IS RIGHT, IT SHOWS THE ANCESTRIES UP TO MY DAD'S FAMILY HIS NAME BEING RICHARD FREEMAN KENDALL AND HIS PARENT'S WERE ALBIN C.KENDALL AND HIS WIFE STELLA. ALBIN'S PARENTS JOSEPH PIERCE KENDALL AND LAURA (WHITTLE) KENDALL , THEN JOSEPH'S PARENTS WERE THOMPSON AND ABIGAIL KENDALL. BUT LIKE I SAID AT THE BEGINNING I AM NOT SURE IF WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME THOMPSON KENDALL? PLEASE HELP ME ANYBODY THAT CAN!!! THANKS

I am looking for the parents of George Arthur Kendall, seem to have hit a dead end. He was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, in November 1900, and died in June 1948, aged 47. He was married to Mary Hannah Hardisty and they went on to have five children, one of which was my grandfather, Ernest Kenneth Kendall.

Thank you in advance.

Here are 3 other Kendall Researchers who have info on the Kendall Line of Joshua Kendall + Dorothy Warner:
1. Mrs. Phyllis Kendall, PO Box 667, Crockett, TX 75835. If she can no longer be contacted, she contributed her family line info to the Yates Co where I obtained it in 1984.
2.Mert Alexander email: 102074.167@compuserve.com 8 Sep 96. If that email no longer works, Mert's info may be available thru the Kendall Email List Archives--just google "Mert Alexander" & it likely will appear among other entries.
3.Joe Barber email: JBarber@microtouch.com 2 Dec 97. He forwarded info from Town Clerk of Landaff, Grafton Co, NH: "Landaff, New Hampshire, Its People 1770-1800," publ 1986 Stanley Currier, pg 115-117.
Also if these researchers can be contacted, they likely have expanded their Kendall Info quite a bit since my contacts.

I am descended from Elmer Kendall, Joshua's son. I am having trouble finding any documents that show Joshua's father, Reuben, is the son of Joshua Kendall and Dorothy Warner; although that is the family belief. Do you have any info on these documents?

Also, family lore is that Joshua, the Civil War soldier, had a mother of Indian heritage but I only find Abigail Whitcomb who seems to be of English background. Any info there?

Thanks!

Hi Russ:

Yes, the link you provided me is my father's website :) We had George as being from Auckley, but have determined that this is not correct. It was a big mistake in our research, compounded by the fact that we didn't have any papers confirming George's approximate age until we found the ship's record of George and Elizabeth (and kids) coming to Canada via the US. You see, George "disappeared" about 1861, presumably killed and thrown down a well. Elizabeth is buried in the Kendall cemetery outside of Port Perry, Ontario.

I am trying to follow 2 clues that others have given me --- one of a George born outside Sheffield about 1791. Another is that George and Elizabeth had a relative staying with them on the 1841 Census, a Joseph Kendall (12 years old at the time), who I believe was born outside Leeds.

I will be in Leeds in mid-April, and will also make my way to Sheffield. If you have any other info on either George or Joseph, do let me know. And thanks for responding!

Robyn Kendall, Vernon, BC, Canada

Hi Robyn,

I've noticed there are some researchers who have George Kendall as being the brother of my 4th Great Grandfather, Richard Kendall / Kendell. Richard was born 1777 and some researchers have his brother George, born 1775 in Auckley / Finningley, as marrying Elizabeth Barrett. I'm not sure this is correct as the 1841 census does have a george in Auckley with this birth date. Your George is clearly 1789 and 1841 / immigration papers support this. Have a look at this link:

http://arvidkendall.ca/Register%20Report%20for%20George%20Ke...

Regards

Russ

I don't have much info about them, BUT I do have photos of both of them. As a child, I found many old photos in my grandmother's attic in NH, and I sat down with her to label all of the ones that she could indentify, and among them are James and Mary Kendall. Their daughter, Mary, married William Moore, and it is through that line that I am descended. Let me know if you're interested, and I can try to find someone with a flatbed scanner. Also, if you've found any info about them, I'd appreciate you sharing it. Thanks and regards - Jeff email: swardlea@gmail.com

I am seeking information regarding Emma J. Kendall b. 23 Jan. 1857 to John Kendall and Maria Kent PORTER. John was born in NY and by 1860 census he was in Petaluma, Sonoma Co., CA. He died in Santa Cruz Co., CA 1909. Maria was born 1832 in OH and died in Santa Clara Co., CA 1907.

Emma apparently married William R. GROFF just prior to 1900. Emma born 1857 in CA. She died in the State Hospital 5/26/1909. From the census records online she remained in the institution from 1900 - 1929. I would like to obtain information regarding her. Why was she incarcerated? One hospital record indicated she had two children. I have been unable to locate a record.

Your assistance to this "mystery" will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Revae

I've only traced my tree back to 1867 and we all live in the Bristol / South Gloucestershire / North Somerset area.

Looking for George Kendall from Yorkshire

Looking for my ancestor, George Kendall, who was born in Yorkshire 1789/90. He moved to Thorne, Yorkshire where he was married to Elizabeth Barrett in 1811. They had children there and then emigrated to Canada in 1842. By the time of their emigration, the two eldest daughters were married (Stones and Wilkinson), both couples also joining them in Canada. I am at a loss to find where George was born. One additional clue is that int he 1841 Census in Thorne, Yorkshire, there is a Joseph Kendall, age 12 (birth year about 1829) also living/staying with them.

Any information/leads would be greatly appreciated.

Robyn Kendall, Vernon, BC, Canada

H. S. is pictured in the 43-D Class yearbook of aviation cadets at the Advanced Flying School at Moore Field in Mission, Texas. I'm not kin but thought this might help someone researching the family.
