Nancy Kennington(Cannington)

I am searching for information on the husband and additional children of Nancy Cannington b 1796 in SC, d 1896, Colquitt Co, GA. She was in the 1840 census in Wilkinson Co, GA, a widow by then, with several children living with her. Britton and William (Cannington)Kennington were living near by(possibly brothers). Her only known child is Caroline, who was living w/ her in 1850 in Wilkinson Co. Any help would be appreciated. I have additional info on her family. Glenn

Actually, this Kennington lived in Wilkinson County. I have lots of records to show who he was. I wonder if we have common links back in South Carolina!

Are you sure this is the same William Kennington? I think there are two in Twiggs County about that time. I am very happy to share any information I have with you! I don't have a Kennedy Kennington as a brother of William. Could you tell me what your tree is so I can check it out? Maybe what I have is inaccurate I am searching for photos right now for this family, trying to publish this research for my mother who is 84 years old. I don't want mistakes in it if I can help it. Thanks for the post!!!

William Kennington, of Wilkinson/Twiggs County, GA, was a brother of my gt granpa, Kenedy Kennington. I have census reports and history data, and marriage data, and other data, about the whole family. William's father was George Kennington, his mother was Nancy (?????) Kennington, and his granpa was Absolom Kennington, all born in SC.
I am seeking any other information that I can find about these.

I am searching for information on William Kennington, born in 1813 in South Carolina, found in the Lancaster County census in 1830, married to Callista (Callie) Collins 21 Feb 1836 in Wilkinson County, GA, living in Wilkinson until his death in 1885. He had children Jasper, Elefair, Essie Ann with an unknown mother, and Britton, Daniel and Eli Madison, whose mother is Callie Collins. I am particularly interested in the first wife and also in Callie Collins, who is my ggg grandmother. I have her birth in South Carolina in 1812, death in Wilkinson County in 1880, burial in Bolingbroke, Monroe, GA. Any information on her parents is appreciated.

GEORGE S KENNINGTON DEAD
George S KENNINGTON was born in England, December 14, 1829 and died at the home of his son, Wm KENNINGTON at Greenleaf, October 4th, 1913 after an illness lasting several weeks. He was married to Susan NELSON in 1858, to this union ----- children were born, John, Mrs --die BEVERLY, William, Robert, and James. He moved from England to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1869, at which place his wife died in 1871. In 1873 he was married to Sarah FLEIR (?) and moved to Kansas in 1878, residing at Chepstow and moved to Greenleaf in 1886; his wife died in 1906, no children were born to this union. He leaves four children, Robert having died in Mexico in 1893, seven grand children and four great grand children.
Funeral services were conducted by Dr PERRY at the home Sunday afternoon, Interment at Mr James.

I was looking back through the message board and found your message. I couldn't remember if I had replied to it privately or not. My computer crashed and I lost all my genealogy messages that I had been saving, so I couldn't go back and look. I remember corresponding with someone who was a school teacher. Is that you? If so, I'm still trying to figure out my Kenningtons. Have you found anything new?

Margaret KENNINGTON, b abt 1844, AL, m William Robert JEFFRIES, 1857, Muscogee Co, GA. It is believed Margaret is the daughter of Duke KENNINGTON, b 1796, SC Elizabeth (?) b, 1801, SC. Duke KENNINGTON and family were found in Pike Co AL, 1850 Census. Margaret and William R. JEFFRIES had two children.A dau, A. born 1868, AL died young and John Swepton, b 1874, AL. Margaret died bef 1877.
I have not been able to find anything on the KENNINGTON family and any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for my great great grandfather named George Kennington. He happened to have a son named John Kennington. Wether this is the same John Kennington that you are seeking we will need to determine. George and his family were from Cane Creek, SC, in Lancaster County. I live in Milton, FL, about 1 hour from Walton Co. Where do you live? From what you have told me, we are kin from way back. John Kennington was married to Sarah Jane Turner , they were my gggrandparents. I don't have my papers in front of me, but I think your gggrandfather was a brother to Sarah Jane Turner. I'm trying to find out who the parents and siblings were of Samuel S. Kennington who was from the Lancaster area of S.C. He was born abt. 1850 and he married Rachel Abigail McManus in 1872. Family history says that he had brothers who moved out to Texas or Mississippi and owned a dept. store. I don't know how true this is. Any info would be appreciated.

I need to correct the previous information.
Samuel was born in 1871 and married Rachel
McManus in 1891. I've obtained his death certificate and it names his parents as John and Elizabeth (Jontz) Kennington, however, I have not been able to find them in any census records in the Lancaster area. Any information relating to this family would be greatly appreciated.
