First of all- enlish is not my first language- so, please, forgive me, if I make mistakes. By my resource, last name Kern (in german -kernel, core, seed) had nothing to do basic with Irland, the name sourced within theutonic (ur-german) knights in first and second crusader war, moving from central Europe to south. They establish a templar command in Komenda- Slovenia, where most of old familys steel have the last name KERN. My grand father take his source in Komenda- Slovenia.

Dear Rose
I saw that you had some family history on Kerns in Virgina. I am looking for a Catherine Kerns (sometimes listed as Bettie on the census and also called Kate). She was born approximatly 1847, and married a John Kines. She had 4 children, among them my great grandfather Edward Middleton Kines. Just thought I would see if you happen to have run across a Catherine, or Bettie Kerns, would appreciate anything at all.
thanks Stephanie Quinn, StephanieQ@aol.com or 301-829-3948

My husband and I are self employed. From the info that you mailed me this summer my line follows John Leonard and Sharlotta Scharadin...Henry Kern and Susanna Allhouse.... Maria Kern and Benjamin Crissman. So I believe that might make us cousins. Bye for now.

I'm looking for information about a Charles Kern that was born in 1841 in Germany and possibly spent some time in Missouri before finally settling in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area.

He had a son Martin (b: 1875) and a daughter Freda (b: 1892). I don't know if there were any other children or who Charles was married to.

Martin stayed in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region and married Catherine McCartney. I'm not a 100% sure of all the kids they had, but there is a Charles (b: 1900), Maude and/or Gertrude (around 1902), Marie (b: 1903), Howard (b: 1911) and Robert (b: 1918)

Any information or assistance about this family line will be much appreciated.

Hello Eric,

Well this is how I fit into the Kern Family. Jonathan Kern m Mary Grimm, their son Jonathan II m. Mariah Shuman, their son Albert Wesley m. Frances Dora Courtwright, their daughter Wanda Ruth was my grandmother. Wanda married 1st Alvin Carpenter, 2nd William Jacobs, who was my grandfather. So is William Carl your grandfather? I would like to know if you have any information on the parents of William Kern Jr. Some people have William Kern Sr & Salome or a Nicholas Kern as father. I based my information from Tilden's book. I would like to chat about this sometime.

Jennifer

from several differnt geneaology sources i have this information: Martin BIBLIN born 1732 daughter Katherine Biblin born 1762 died 1824 in Lousiana; she married Adam Kern son of Conrad/Coonrad Kern and wife Mary Campbell Berry; Adam was born in 1762 in North Carolina and died in 1838 in Indiana--child Mary M. (magdalene?) Kern born in 1787 in North carolina and died in 1845 in Iowa; your tree suggests 7 other siblings; on some records the name shows riblin but it may be a tye error or a phonetic spelling as the immigrants had thick accents//i am a biblin and am trying to find deceased biblin information for louisa biblin of kansas 1800's; frank biblin; andrew biblin of maine and james biblin of new york; also one in new mexico and a possible slave in conn. and two from germany sara and leibe came in 1880's from germany //do you have any information about martin and katherine? please e-mail back to me as you may be a very remote relative; my biblin family actually was from russia

My grandparents were from Henryville, Clark County, IN. My gggrandfather was William Kern, wife Mary Elizabeth, came from Nassau, Germany 1853, with 9 year old son George. I am researching their geneaology. I have seen the name Andrew Catherine Kern several times. I often wonder if William Kern and Andrew Kern were related. LaVonne Kern Davis
