In 1870 he was married and living with Frances with 8 children in the home. All this I got from Census records. But I don't know my connection to him. These Kerseys are white. I can't get any further back than Peter Kersey, born 1648, married to Ann___. Have you had any luck?

Hi there cousin. I know this is an old post but I just came across it tonight while searching for my great grandmother Lydia Kersey Cashatt. We showed her parents as Parker Kersey and Sarah McGee; from what I've seen I believe his name to actually be John Parker Kersey, that would explain why I wasn't finding anything when searching for him as simply Parker Kersey. It appears we share the same great-great grandparents.
I live in MO but my mom was born in High Point, NC.
I am also related to the Largen's from NC if you have any connection to them.

Hi, I'm a Kersey descendant and family researcher living in KY. My lineage/"brick wall" goes back as far as John Kersey and Elizabeth Meredith 1808, Green Co, KY. I have been tring to break my brick wall by researching "other Kersey" families, therefore possible eliminating indirect links. If you would please provide what other data you might have on the Kersey's in VA, the I may be able to provide what I have. For example, I have found several Thomas and Johns but have not been able to connect them, as of yet. Maybe potential birthdays, siblings, and residence locations maybe of some help.

Larry
I was checking some of my information I have a bout the Kerseys and I found some references to Thomas Kersey 1736 - 1933
It seems that A Thomas Kersey was mentioned in the Vestry Book of St Pauls Parish in 1712 in an order to clear a road from John Whites Mill to Polgeens Old field There is also a mention of a George and Thomas In the Louisa County records in 1783 Both George and Thomas seem to be in the same generation maybe Brothers or Cousins. There is another Thomas Kersey born 1735 Son of John. Also there is a 1800 Census saying Thomas was married to Susan Corker which land could be linked to the same land deeded to William Corker

I don't know if any of this helps or not but it seems that the Kerseys were always fighting over land at one point or the other. I have a court case that was going on with Richard and some of his relatives that I found in the library in Richmond when I was doing some research. Let me know what you have.
Thanks Dianne

Richard Kersey was my g g grandfather born in hanover virginia in 1822 died in 1900 He had a brother named Ballard Kersey There is a reference to a Fleming Kersey married Janet Ballard Kersey But we can't confirm this for sure that he was the father of Richard and Ballard. Thats where we are stuck. Ballard Kersey was born in 1812 died in 1880 in Hanover and is buried on the Kersey Farm in ashland, Va. Phillip Kersey still lived on the property and he was really into the Kersey Family tree. He passed December 2010 so there went my partner to the family. He had a lot of information. He was down the Ballard side of the Kerseys. Can you tell me about the Richard that you have, hopefully its the same person. Thanks Dianne

Hello...My GG-Grandfather was Wright Kersey b. abt 1805-06 in either Bulloch or Montgomery County GA, later to become Emanuel Co, GA.

I have been searching for several years to find his parents and/or siblings. Your information is interesting to me because I too have been tracing John, Richard and Thomas Kersey from Craven and Carteret NC in 1790 and 1800 to Emanuel Co GA in 1810 and believe them to be brothers.

What I haven't been able to figure out is which one was Wright's father. Can you please send how you connected Wright as a sibling to Alfred and the rest on your list?

I found Richard Kersey on a land deed in 1815, but he is no longer in Emanuel Co GA in the 1820 census, so I believe he died between 1815 and 1820 and I also believe him to be Richard G's father, not Thomas. Just a hunch.

Also, I have a Libron Kersey who was my Great Uncle and is buried in Dyal Cemetery in Bradford County FL, so I think we may be talking about the same line!

My line is Wright Kersey, General Morgan Kersey, General Lee Kersey, and Robert Cecil Kersey (my dad). Any help to fill in the blanks would be GREATLY appreciated!

I think Libron's father was Thomas-1780-NC or VA. He was in Emanuel Ga in 1820 & 1830. His children were:Alfred 1800-1880:Wright1805-1868:Richard G 1810-1857:Hampton 1815-1870:Liborn 1818:Elijah 1820:Julia Elizabeth 1821.

Thomas' parents are Richard Kersey born 1740 and Susan Bell born 1760 and married in 1779. Yhey also had a son Richard born 1n 1782 and maybe a son John also in 1782.

Richard's father is Thomas Kersey born in 1712-1778.

There are two Lawton Kerseys in the 1930 Federal Census of Georgia. One is in Emanuel County, Georgia and is married to Bell Williamson. I am not interested in him at the present time.

The other is in Toombs County, Georgia and is married to Nellie E. It is this second Lawton Kersey who interests me.

Nellie is apparently his second wife. In earlier censuses, his wife is Sallie. Other researchers have reported that Sallie died in 1927, but I can find no documentation of her death.

Lawton died 9 Nov 1945, in Jasper County, SC. He is buried in Manassas, Tattnall County, Georgia. His death certificate lists him as widowed and names Sallie Kersey as his deceased wife.

QUESTION: Does anybody know Sallie's maiden name?

Tom Williams

I have not run across those names yet. Can you provide some names that go a little further back? I'll be glad to share what information I have if we prove to be related.

Hi My grandmother was Rhoda Kersey of High Point. I never knew her because she died before I was born. I did know her sister my great aunt Cornelia Kersey. They all were born and lived in Archdale. I have lots of information about the Kerseys. One cousin has always been very interested in our ancestry and has lots of info. Are we part of your Kersey family. Thank you Anne Pritchett Wagg
