Hi Bruce, I found what i think is the baptismal record of my ggg grandfather in dunbarney, perthshire. So sorry my brother never took the dna test despite my sending it to him. Im thinking of getting my nephew to take it. I think this now probably solidifies the link. His name was David Kettle born in 1801 and he at some point went to Glasgow. He was a shoemaker. Hope all is well with you. Kathy

I believe I am descended from Jane Kettles and Alexander Barlas both born about 1840. My grandfather William Barlass was their child. He was born about 1867/8. He married Ann Flanagan in 1892 in Edinburgh. He sailed to New Zealand with a son David and a daughter Jane /Jean in June 1897 on the SS Gothic. He settled in Christchurch and had a plumbing business. My mother was their 2nd daughter born 1904. I do not have an accurate birthdate for him.

hi I am the new administrator for the kettle board first of all I,d like to say hello to all my long lost rellies out there. Did you all know that Kettle is one of the oldest recorded surnames in England. I will shortly be reviewing our board and removing very old messagea after i have contacted the owners to give them the oppertunity to update there message before hand. Certificates are a great source to backing up what you have found however over time they can work out expensive why not share them with other members, they may return the favour to you one day, the same with photographs. if any of you have questions out there don,t hestitate to contact me, problems with your searches reached a brick wall together the kettle family will sort it out

David, thanks vey much for the info. I live in Nelson so will have a look in the cemetery for Frank and Charles. The rest of the Duncan family has been rather hard for me to find any info on, as my Dad knows nothing at all about William and Catherine's children. A cousin in Dunedin has been able to find a little info from the Settlers museum. My aim is to see if I can find any living cousins on my Dads side while he is still alive. Thanks again for your info. Lianne

my maiden name is kettle and im researching my family tree. ive got as far back as 1843, maybe 1818, but im getting stuck now! my 1843 is john william kettle, born london city, who married eliza elizabeth graham in 1864. there were 4 kids that i can find, george mary albert walter and alfred. eliza died in 1887 and john in 1890. i cant find walter after his birth on any record, but i know he was alive in 1909 when his son alfred got married as he's on the wedding certficate.i can find his brother alfred, lodging with george and his wife in 1901. alfred was born in 1884, a year after walter, so i wonder why alfred is boarding with family and not walter? i know this can be quite confusing, but if anyone know's anything, or can help, please message or email me.
thanks
bev.x

Have recently started to research my family and come across this site. Although not directly researching Mary Kettle who married John Rutherford in 1855 she is the daughter of my great x 2 grandfather James Kettle who married Mary Ann Ward on 23 September 1832. He was born approximately 1811 in Scotland and that is as far as I can go. Can anyone help?
