Looking for Relatives of Thomas and Mary (Clinton) Kidd in Edgar County, IL 1860

Am trying to find lineage of (parents and siblings of) Thomas Kidd (b. VA), married Mary Clinton (b. IL). They were married in IL in 1855. Had three children in 1860 census, John, Elizabeth and William all born in IL. Possibly (James) Abiner b. in 1863 is also their son.

Thomas and Mary disappear by 1870 census and all three 1860 children are living with other Edgar County families. Elizabeth is 12 "at school" and living with Mary's sisters' father-in-law, Elias Morris. John is living with the Asel Davis family as a "farm laborer" at 14. William, my gggrandfather, was living with Andrew McMullen family and was "at home" at 11 years old. (Listed as Kind in Heritage Quest census). I know William was an orphan, per my great aunt's memoirs. So this all ties in.

Also b. in VA and living in Edgar County, are Joseph and Lindsey Kidd.

Here is a possible VA link to Pleasant and Margaret (Wright)Kidd of VA, as they had three sons with these names, the ages look right and the VA census and IL census both list Joseph under the Poor/Idiot column. Am trying to find information to link Thomas to Pleasant and Margaret. Then also, trying to pinpoint Pleasant's lineage.

There are no cemetery records, for Mary or Thomas that I can find in Edgar County.

Lindsey has a probate record there, but no will.

There is a Thomas Kidd in the Civil War but which Thomas Kidd, and if this is ours, I can't say.

In 1860 Lindsey lived next to Robert F. Kidd. Lindsey's wife was Ellen L.(23), daughter Sarah A. (4) and son Luke (2). In 1880, Ellen is no longer listed, and along with Sarah and Luke, are Jacob (19), Jennie (17)and Malinda (11).

Abiner Kidd (17) is listed on the bottom of the same page in 1880 living with Luisa Pitcher as a "worker on farm".

John married Alice Cash. No idea who, if anyone Elizabeth married.

William married Anna Mae Langley. They had Grover C., Bessie (m. Charles Gamble), and Charles A. Kidd (m. Mabel in MN). Grover married Grace Ethel McDonald (b. in KY) and had Helen Sarah (b. IL), Marie (b. IL), William H. (b. IN) and Anna Mae Kidd (b. MN). In 1920, William, Grover and Charles all lived in Goodhue/Rice County Area in MN. Grace was from Hebbardsville, KY across from Evansville, IN. She moved to Evansville, IN, after she and Grover were divorced. Both she and Grover remarried. Grover stayed in MN.

Charles A. had Charles and Allen Raymond Kidd with Mabel. He left her and had another son Charles Smith ?. Charles Kidd, known as Red, is still living, but Allen has passed. I just found them.

Bessie Kidd and Charles Gamble, had children and I just found one of their granchildren.

All help will be greatly appreciated!
Sandra,
I've sent a couple of emails to your bellsouth email address but I'm posting here because I haven't had a response and the last email was undelivered after several days. I know a male Kidd descendant of Webb Kidd and I wondered if there's still a need for DNA from a descendant. I also wonder about the cost and what's involved. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

Teresa

Y-DNA update for Kidd family

I wanted to let all Kidd researchers know that the company we use for the Kidd Y-DNA study is again offering a year-end promotion, with special pricing. A 37 marker Y-DNA test is priced just 119 dollars. For the Kidd study, we recommend the 37 marker test. This special price is only 20 dollars more than the normal price for a 12 marker test, so it is worth checking out.

We have made several good breakthroughs in the Y-DNA study this year, including confiming that two descendants of Moses Kidd of Chatham Co, NC (who married Cary Powers) are close matches with several other men in the Kidd Y-DNA study who descend from Thomas Kidd, the immigrant. The verification of the origins of Moses Kidd have been a great mystery for many years, and many researchers have devoted much time to this subject. Thanks to Y-DNA, we can begin to narrow the Moses Kidd search to certain branches of the Kidd family tree.

For more information about testing options and the special offer, visit the website at www.familytreedna.com . This offer is valid through Dec 31, 2008, and kits must be ordered and paid in full by end of day Dec 31. The tests do not have to be completed by then to get the special pricing, just ordered and paid for. So if you know of someone you might be able to recruit for the study in 2009 (or you are thinking of joining in yourself), I urge you to go ahead and take advantage of this special offer! And, if you are a female Kidd, these make great Christmas gifts for your Kidd father, uncle, brother, or first cousin twice removed!

To order, go online to http://www.FamilyTreeDNA.com , or call the company at 713-868-1438 (they are in central time zone). Pls make sure you order through the Kidd group to get the discount, or tell the staff member that you are joining through the Kidd group.

The Kidd Y-DNA website is found at www.familytreedna.com/Kidd/public , and you also can place an order from this webpage . If you have questions, please let me or Steven Perkins, Kidd Y-DNA co-administrator, know. I can be reached at skkidd@bellsouth.net and Steven at scperkins@gmail.com .

And a happy holiday to all Kidds, near and far!

Sandra
Sandra Kidd
Kidd Y-DNA co-administrator and descendant of Aaron Kidd of Albemarle Co VA, son of William Kidd and grandson of Thomas Kidd, immigrant to VA by 1646

Andrew Kidd - South Carolina / Kentucky

I am looking for information on the Andrew Kidd family that migrated from South Carolina about 1803 to Livingston County, Kentucky. They appear to have returned to South Carolina about 1812. John and Sarah Savina Wallace Kidd also made this move, along with Sarah's brother Oliver Berry Wallace. I am interested in the relationship between this Andrew Kidd and this John Kidd. All the males mentioned here appear on the 1810 Livingston County census.

Laura Jean Childers Kidd 1933-2008

In Loving Memory of Laura Jean Kidd
January 30, 1933 - November 11, 2008
Age: 75
On November 11, 2008 surrounded by her loving family, Laura Jean Kidd went home to her Lord. Born in Elkhorn Creek, Kentucky in 1933 Laura Jean lived a life full of joy and love. After wedding her life’s love, Ted Kidd, the couple moved north to Ohio to raise their family. Laura Jean worked as a waitress in Perrysburg for many years where she brought joy to her co-workers, forming bonds of friendship which continued throughout the years. As a member of Echo Meadows Church of Christ in Oregon Laura Jean was baptized and accepted the Lord as her savior. She found strength in the sharing of Christian love.

Laura Jean was an avid quilter and enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well. She also held a passion for hummingbirds and flowers, adding to her extensive flower gardens every year. However, family was the center of Laura Jean’s life.
Phoebe Kidd Dawes, North Carolina

Looking for any information on Phoebe Jane Kidd Dawes. Born 9 May 1878 in North Carolina and died 16 July 1960 in Rogers County Oklahoma. She married Jonathon W. Dawes sometime between 1880 and 1910, have been unable to locate when/where. They probably married around 1898 in Oklahoma since their first child was born in Oklahoma about 1898 per 1910 census. On the 1880 census they were living in neighboring counties separated by state boundaries, she was in Cherokee County North Carolina age 2 and he was in Fannin County Georgia age 20.

Jonathon’s father died in Oklahoma about 1888 so I am wondering when the two families came together. Married Phoebe and her brother Felix are living next door to each other on the 1910 census in Craig County Oklahoma.

Appreciate any input,
Pat Bowen
I am trying to find out information about William Kidd who was a clerk of the petty sessions when my great great grandmother Annie got married to William Nesbitt in Broadford Co Clare. William died in 1902 in Co Clare at the age of 78. The 1901 census shows he was born in Co Down. He had a daughter Margaret and a son called William wbo married Mary Ann or Marian. I don't know the name of William's wife or if he had any brothers or sisters. If anyone can help me find out more I would really appreciate it. Thanks Imelda

I have the following information for Webb Kidd and his wife, Elizabeth White, but I'm searching for the source documentation. I see these dates or similar a lot on internet posted family trees, but there's little in the way of documentation. I've noted what I do have:

Webb Kidd
b. about 1745 Pittsylvania, Virginia
d. about 1805 (I have a copy of his will dated 1803. registered 1805 Elbert Co. Georgia, so assume this year is close, but is the actual date out there?
m. Elizabeth White 1770 Virginia, USA (from Marriages of Some Virginia Residents 1607-1800, Vol. II, by Wulfeck, Dorothy Ford)

Elizabeth White
b. 3 April 1749
d. 6 Aug 1804 Elbert, Georgia

I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!
Looking for information on Kidd in Michigan, Found a 1880 census record that shows who I believe is my GG-Grandmother H. Edith Kidd being the daughter of a William and Minnie(Millie) Kidd in Millbrook, Mecosta Co., Michigan.

Here race is listed as Mulatto, Family Story is that we has some Indian blood in us. I have seen some of the other postings on the cherokee Kidds, but have found nothing to confirm if that my Kidd fits in.

Thanks for any help
Jerry Betts
KIDD FAMILY - OTTAWA, DUNROBIN, RCMP

John A. Kidd was born in or about Motherwell, Scotland 7 Sept. 1901. His parents may be DAVID and ? McNabb. His siblings were John, David, Alec, Catherine, Mary, Jean and another bros. In 1916 he worked for RYREE BROS. Printing Company in TORONTON, Ontario. He joined the RCMP in 1920 and was stationed in Regina Saskatchewan. He later married Viola Helen Gardiner from Cantley, Quebec. They had 13 children and lived on a farm in the outskirts of Ottawa (maybe Dunrobin). A record indicates his parents and siblings were all alive and well in 1922. I am seeking information about emmigration (1903?) and about his siblings and parents. Thanks

Arthur Maurice Kidd - England

Would be grateful if anyone can help please. I am trying to find more information on Arthur Maurice Kidd, born ? 12 May 1900 in Grimsby, son of Robert Edward Kidd aka Charles Edward Kidd and Amelia Kidd (nee Baxter). Siblings John, Olive and Alice. The family moved to Fleetwood around 1905/06. The only information I have from family is that Arthur was "drowned at sea off the Isle of Grain" but not sure what this relates to, eg whether he was in the Royal Navy, merchant navy, or whether he was a fisherman, and I have been unable to locate him in any records, apart from his birth. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to share information that I have on Kidd family.

Hello,

I am looking for information on him. I may have the spelling wrong, so I will look it up later when I find the picture of him.

He was married to my husbands grandmother, Novella "Rose". They lived in Texas and had a son named David Michael.

Rose left him very early in their marriage, David was still a small child. She learned he had died later on, by choking on a piece of steak. Although, someone in his family said they believe it was actually a drug overdose.

My husband has no idea where to begin looking for Kidd information because Rose never kept in touch with her former in-laws after that.

Thanks,
Melissa

Charles Kidd - Norfolk to America and back

Trying to find any info on Charles Kidd, who I believe emigrated to America some time between 1851 and 1871. 1851 England census shows him living in Thornage, Norfolk, no sign of him on 1861 England census, but re-appears on 1871 England census with wife Elizabeth ?Lent or ?Kent, from French 'Crick' (Creek) in New York state, together with children born in Ridgeway. I know there are several towns called Ridgeway in America and I am not sure where to start. Any pointers in the right direction greatly appreciated.
