Sounds interesting. My Kilroys Came from Ireland and mostly settled in Quebec and Ontario. Also they married into the Brennan from Quebec. My Grandfather was a Kilroy and my Grandmother was a Brennan.

Will check out these names and see if anything matches what I have. I have lost track of some and maybe if they changed names that would confuse a lot of people.

Hi Siobhan,

I found this old message when scanning through Kilroy message boards. Are you still online?

I have traced my family back to Rathcoole, Dublin, in the 1840-70 period though we have lived in England since the mid-1870's. I'd be very interested to see if any of your family records match up with mine.

Regards,

John Kilroy

Aha Bob Seaton! I remember well from the old day barbecues at our Vale park orchard. Had 3 sons as I recall. All very funny kids. Reckon he lived around Klemzig, other side of O.G. Road, for a while too.
Lost contact with them all but do remember when dad did his delivery round. Always dropped a weekly crate of fresh vegetables into TAA freight, (where I later worked as a Vac student), for dispatch to Darwin - to a Bob Seaton, "Wing Commander or Squadron Leader or such? Assume it was that same Bob. I reckon I remember Roger(?) telling me how Bob left one of his kids behind at Mallala Raceway one day (Dale?). That must have been around 1960 - so we must still have been in touch even then.
One thing I now ponder is how they all became connected, i.e, what was the common thread? My dad was in everything, Aero Club at Parafield, Salisbury Hunt Club, Prospect RSL, NAFC, Prospect Cricket Club, TAA Foundation Member, ex RAAF - we had barbies and shows for the lot!

The only people I remember that visited the Kilroy's were the Seaton's. They had a son Lea. Yes, Jan was a lovely person. The last time I saw her was down at Glenelg where she worked as a receiptionist at the Family Hotel. Always wondered what happened to her after that. She and Killy had a daughter Katherine? or Kate, but we called her Kattieaaah, due to the fact she couldn't pronounce her name when very young. I loved that little girl and have often thought about her. Give me a call when and if you feel like it.

Eustace16. All checks out. Remember the carter St property well. Used to go there with mum quite often as Jan was one of her favourites. You and I probably even met at some stage. As I said in previous post my older brother Phil passed away from cancer at the age of 64 some three year ago.The used car place was Adelphi Motors I think. Your description of Killy 100% correct - I was not game to say it!
It was absolutely great to hear that most of them may be still around. Would love to catch up or phone them.

I can assist with regard to Jenny, Clarrie's youngest daughter and also any other info you may require. I am listed in the telephone directory in a suburb of NSW.
Hi Geoff, I grew up with the Kilroys. Clarrie's first wife was Moira who did live in North Plympton five years ago and so did Anita, her daughter, but they did not live at the same address. The last time I saw Anita was back in 2006. Roger lived somewhere out of town from Adelaide, on his own, after having twins by his wife, but then divorced some years ago. Jan, one of his maybe second wives I remember well. They lived in Carter Street Thorngate then to Main North Road Enfield where Clarrie (killy) ran a car yard. Killy was a scoundrel, with women, money and a good time, but still you couldn't help but like him. He too served with HM pleasure and then moved on to Wollongong with yet another woman, then to Kings Cross in Sydney where he left for West Australia, after discovering he had cancer. Anita and I spent the last couple of days with him before his departure from Sydney. I now live in Sydney and if you require any information give me a call by checking the NSW suburban telephone directory.

Re: Clarence Kilroy

Felicity,
What an amazing co-incidence. It is only since moving back to Adelaide, and living near to the place that my brother and I grew up, that Clarrie’s name came up.
Sadly my brother and mother passed away a couple of years ago and I cannot share this reflection with them.
I remember Roger and Neeta having a younger sibling, born when we all hung around together – mid 1950’s.
The family as I remember:
Mrs. Kilroy, from a very respectable family, (Lovegrove as I remember). Very refined and ran a dress shop in Unley for a while. Jan(?), may still be alive – as far as I know mum kept in touch with her on and off while I was away in the bush.
Roger – an absolute “lair”. Great sportsman, very funny, shock of red hair and freckles, always into mischief. Last I heard in the 1960s was in a car accident roll-over(?). Swerved to miss a cat? My brother and I lost contact with them all in the late 1950’s. We always wonder what happened to him. Agreed that he would have probably spent some time at her majesty’s pleasure the way he was going. Great Norwood supporter.
Neeta – remember her as a lovely girl. Quite the opposite to Roger. Think she progressed to Uni.
Clarrie – a charming man and popular with the ladies
Lovely Indian accent
Barrel chest, balding
Gold rings etc
Great cook of Indian food
Played our piano (?) – which I inherited. Seem to remember Clarrie playing that piano while we were on the back of a truck moving houses in Adelaide.
Another interesting aspect was Clarrie’s last place - listed as Stirling, WA. My brother lived in that area in Perth, (Gwelup), from the late 70s until late 90s. This is evidently only a kilometer or so away. He may have even seen Clarrie and not known it!
I worked in the Lands Dept in Adelaide for years and recently tried to locate any trace of Roger – but alas never a property owner.
Will see last of my late mother and father’s old friends in a couple of weeks. Not sure whether she was in the same social circles, but was certainly the same era. As you can imagine not many of that old brigade left now.
Regards,
Geoff

They had 6 daughters and lived in Bayonne & jersey city, New Jersey. He was in his mid to late 50s when he married my great grandmother (I think they married in 1912) Is it possible this is the same Thomas?

I am connected to Kilroys from the Newport area in County Mayo. My great, great grandfather was Michael Kilroy, who married Mary McHale and was in New York City in 1855 when my great grandmother, Cecelia Kilroy, was born. We don't have any information about her family in America. Michael had a brother, Thomas Kilroy (married Bridget Kelly) who stayed in Newport. His daughter, Sarah Kilroy, came to the U.S. at the age of 12 or 13 in 1868, joined the Sisters of Providence and became the mother superior at one point. She died in Terre Haute, Indiana, in 1953. Have met many Kilroys from the Newport area. Not sure this is your connection, buy maybe you have further information.
Monica Dougherty

Hmmm...I wonder if I am? My ggrandfather was Michael Kilroy b.1855 Ireland, married to a Mary. His parents were John Kilroy and Kate Malloy.
I've been having trouble nailing down the children of Michael and Mary, so far I only have my grandmother Margaret Donovan and her sister Mary. They were housed in a Boston orphanage (Saint Vincents) while Michael slowly wasted away in a Tewskbury hospital. I can't find much about his wife except that she probably lived in Chelsea. While he is listed as being married his wife wasn't listed as the next of kin when he died, which seems odd. Maybe she had moved on to greener pastures while he was in the hospital? Perhaps she remarried after he passed? Who knows...Anyway...good luck with your searching!

Two daughters Mary b. abt 1887 in Chelsea, and Margaret b:1889 Chelsea Ma d: 1861 in Tewksbury Ma.
Michaels parents were John Kilroy and Kate Malloy and they lived in Chelsea Ma since at least 1861 until he died.

Margaret (my grandmother) was in an orphanage with her sister in the early 1900's and she married Michael Bernard Donovan of Medford/Stoneham Mass.

I believe that Michael Kilroy married Mary and after he died his wife Mary then married Michael Donovans father John, (not sure about this link yet it gets' a little confusing).
