My Kimbels emigrated from NC to TN around 1825-1830. Lived in Montgomery Co. and later Perry Co. They seemed to have stayed in Alabama on the way to TN during this period. Kentucky is another place the family members emigrated to. Names are F. H. Kimbel, Herbert Sims Kimbel and Alexander Kimbel. F. H. was a doctor, Herbert was a lawyer and Alexander seems to have been a n'er do well with quite a few children from different wives (women). All three brothers born in NC but I think the family was originally from Virginia and before that (the 1600's) Massachusetts.

I am looking for information on Charles Bruce Kimble born in Ohio on September 18, 1878. This is my great grandfather. Do not know who his parents, siblings nor do we know where he died. I have found things on him regards the census but is last known whereabouts was in Calcasieu Parish in Louisiana. He left my great grandfather after my grandfather was born. Would love more information? He was in the military and was discharged here in the New Orleans area. Thanks

I am searching for any information on Rosa Guerra Kimble who was born in Panama. She is the daughter of Everett Clayton Kimble and Rosa Guerra. Everett Clayton Kimble was born December 20, 1896 in Missouri and died at Gorgas, Panama on October 17, 1959. Everett Clayton Kimble had two children with Rosa Guerra, a son Everett Clayton Kimble Guerra who was killed in 1968 in Panama by Noriega's troops and a daughter Rosa who was supposed to have come to the United States possibly around 1963 when she was approximately 18 years of age. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Cousin, Hope I can help. O.S.Kimble was my grandfather and he is buried near Petersburg, WV. His father, T.G. is buried in Maysville, WV with his wife Mary Magdalene (Muntzing). I never knew her nickname to be "Lizzie". Are you certain? My grandfather never spoke of her. And his sisters as my only source of information did not mention a nickname probably as it was a name not used by them. As for John Riley Sr., I have him as the father of T.G., rather than John James. And John Riley, Jr. as an older brother of T.G. Let me know if this clears up your questions. It's always good to hear from kin. (Don't mean to be redundant, but I also sent you an email w/this same info.) James Autrey

I am a grandson of Olen Schley Kimble, Petersburg. The line goes back thru Thomas Grant, James, and John Riley Kimble, Sr. I knew Kimbles in Maysville with a son nicknamed Chuck., father Reg Kimble. My mother was OS Kimble's daughter Doris Ruth and her first marriage to Howard Autrey of Garland, Tx. I have researching Civil War records and the Kimble family of Brushy Run and then Greenland Gap sent many brothers, cousins and fathers into service for the Union. During a search for Penleton Co Scouts, the posting you left promted this response. Are we related? James Dennis Autrey.

Re: Any info on Harmon Kimble?

My theory is that William Kimble is Nancy's nephew. I have seen on someone's online tree that her maiden name is Kimble. My hunch is that Nancy is a sister to Jacob Kimble. There may also be a brother named James and one Harmon. I think the father of these siblings is also a Harmon. (He is the one I am trying to match to the Newfoundland Kimbles.) I believe that Jacob and his brother John married two Egbert sisters -- Lydia (this is a fact) and Ellen (this is not a fact). I believe something happened to John, and Ellen then married a Decker. (One census record shows an Ellen Decker with a Kimble female child living with them.) The rest of the children were split up -- William and Catherine going to Nancy Miller, and Amos going to Lydia and Jacob Kimble. This is all conjecture, however. The Amos Kimble who eventually raised his family in Newton lists a John and Ellen as his parents, though he was raised (according to the census records) with Lydia and Jacob. (Jacob does not list Amos as his son in his will.)

In regards to Garret Miller, my gr-gr-great-grandfather and Nancy Kimble, she was his second wife. Her only child is William Kimble, but I have no idea who his father is, does anyone know who Nancy's first husband was and is she a Kimble too?

The 2 children on the 1860 census, Emeline "Elizabeth and John are not Nancy's children. They belong to Garrett and Phoebe C "Pheby" Miller.

Hi Jim,

I've been following your posts for years. I understand your frustration with not finding records for Daniel. Unfortunately, I have found no documented connection to the Kimbles who settled in Greene County, PA. I believe that Daniel is most likely connected in some way to the Kimbles who settled originally in Washington County, PA (possibly John or Nathan) and then moved into Ohio. Some of the Greene County Kimbles would eventually move into Ohio as well, but at later dates. The Peter and Jacob Kimble came to Greene County from Berkeley Co. and Frederick Co. VA and a few of their children followed along. My John Kimble, who I believe to be the son of Peter, Sr., died in 1819 and may have had a son Daniel who settled in Tyler Co., VA/WV. The naming patterns are the only clue that leads me to believe there is some cousin connection between your Daniel and those in southwestern PA. I have kept an eye out for your Daniel, but to date have not found any documentation or family files.

pbrown@waynesburg.edu
Hi Donna,
I saw your posting and have a 30 year old puzzle that maybe you can help me with. My Daniel Kimble was born 1786 in Pa and moved to Morrow County. He belonged to the Wayne church in 1807 and lived most of his life in Harmony Twp., Morrow County.
After years of researching I've never been able to find his ancestors.
I had my DNA done twice. I have zero connections to any of the Kimbles but have perfect matches with over a dozen people with variations of Doty/Dougherty, etc.
The fact that you are researching Kimbles and have the name of Dougherty, all in the same area, makes me optimistic that maybe you can help me find Daniel's ancestors.
PLEASE contact me at vkngprints@sbcglobal.net so we can exchange information and if any of the rest you can help me please do so also.
THANKS for any help you can give to me.
Jim Kimble

I store my files there and dump daily on my old 320 GB on to transfer later to the 2TB.

You can keep the USB port unplugged from your computer but power cord on and don't lose a thing.

I have hit a road block in my search for an African American ancestor by the name of Louis (Lewis) Kimber, aka Kimble. He was born in Tennessee about 1835 but other places of birth listed for him in the censuses were Alabama and Kentucky with his parents born in Louisiana or North Carolina.

Do you have a Louis Kimble/Kimber in your records?

I have additional information on Cleatus P. Kimble as he is listed here. His full name was Cleatus Paul Kimble and he was reported as being KIA (killed in action). He was born 11 Sept. 1942, died 11 Nov. 1969 in Vietnam. He's buried in Harris Chapel Cemetary in Cross Co. AR. His parents were Emmet Preston Kimble and Ruby Farris. So, Cleatus would have been a second cousin to me because his father was my great uncle.

Sorry to post this so many years past. I think, I might have a little information except the spelling of Kimble... I have several different spellings: Kimble/Kimball/Kimbel/Kimbell/Kimbrel/Kimbrell/Kimbal/Kembal/Kemball/Kemboll. I do have a Peter Kimball but no more information on him, his parents are Joseph Kimball and Frances Simmons.

Re: New to Kimble family research, do these names mean anything to you??

Do you have anymore information on the Kimbles because several generations later after the Kimball family came over they started coming south from MA to NC and SC to AL and on. So it is possible there might be some relation somewhere in there.

PA Kimbles

Hi, I am looking for my great grandfather. He was a Cherokee Indian born in Oklahoma, but adopted by a German family named Kimble. They presumably gave him his name, James Edward Kimble and relocated him to Philadelphia, PA. He married Sara(h) Elizabeth Bowers from the Bahamas and the had a child, Esther Elizabeth Kimble, born between 1914 and 1919. Sara(h) died 2 years after Esther's birth and James brought Esther to the Washington, D.C. area. I'm running into roadblocks because doubt there are any legal records of an Indian boy's adoption or the marriage of an Indian and a woman from the islands so any information would be helpful. Thanks!
