Hello.

I am seeking any information for Arthur Kingham who died in 1952 in Battersea, his last known address was 7 Spicer Street, Battersea. I have his death certificate which gives the informant as his daughter B Bennett, but I also have a Insurance death certificate in my family papers which lists my grandfather (Arthur Rufus PRATT) as his child??? Arthur Rufus's father according to his birth certificate was a Arthur Richard PRATT, I have his details but only up to 1914 where he is listed on the Electoral Rolls living at Dashwood Road, Battersea after this he disappears and I have been unable to ascertain any further details, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Quite a few years after your original post, but my grandmother was Margaret "Louise" (Kingham) Brown, originally from Dorchester. Found your post by searching Jacob Benjamin's name in google, because it was a unique name I remembered. I have all my genealogy info on an old computer, which I can't get into right now, but I do remember my trail ran cold when I hit the Lamberts. I do not have an Ancestry account anymore because I haven't been able to find the time lately.
Erin Stiles
ebstiles@comcast.net

Hi Joan, my gt gt grandfather was John Cornelius Kingham born in Birmingham in 1856, he was a metal spinner and his parents were Edward Kingham (c1830) and Maria. All my ancesters on that side going back as far as I can trace them were in the metal industry in Birmingham and there were a lot of big families. It is possible there is a link there somewhere although I haven't found a John Kingham born in 1845.

Karen

My Great Grandmother was Catherine E. Kingham who was the daughter of John Kingham who was a Blacksmith in Baldock, Hertfordshire.I found the complete genealogy of this Kingham family (they originated in Bedfordshire)on the website of Graham Thomas (www.grahamthomas.com)but now seems to have gone. However, if you visit http://ourgenealogy.co.uk/grahamthomas.com/kinx3.htm
and go down through the name list until you reach Kingham, you will find all the references to the Kinghams from Graham Thomas's website and can interogate them all. Sadly, you will not find a Frank or Maria Kingham, I do not think. I knew of a Frank Kingham (married to my mother's cousin)in Baldock, Hertfordshire during the 1950's and 60's but do not know his ancestry.
Best Wishes
Derek Bonfield

Hi Barbara,

Im interested in all Kinghams.
My understanding so far is that the name originates from the Kingham village in Oxfordshire. I find no others.

I guess im most interested in the origin, and early Kinghams, and will also work upward from my mothers line, though i need to question her more on that yet, all i know is she was born in Surrey.

Thanks
Joel
Thomas, Mary, Amelia Bridget KINGHAM

The Harpenden name came up today when I was looking for a Thomas Kingham. The entry from the 1881 railway worker census says : "Thomas KINGHAM (57, Plate Layer) at Harpenden, Herts” (making him born circa 1824, which is about the time the Thomas Kingman we are looking for was born). Perhaps if this Kingman is in your line it may help you find more information.

The Thomas Kingman we are looking for (there are a few by that name, mostly in Bucks and Herts, we haven't narrowed it down yet) would have been born around 1824. His wife was named Mary. Their daughter Amelia Bridget (born around 1850-60?) first married a FENSOM, and later married Henry Foster JOSEPHS in Allahabad (India?) in 1880.

Carol
