Janice,

I don't have any positive information, but be careful with Kingston's in Buffalo and the Mowhawk Valley. I have a branch of my Kingston family that came to Little Falls and Buffalo NY from Nova Scotia (originally from County Cork). Paul and George are common names in this branch and there was a George in Buffalo who served in the Civil War.

Janice (my name is Janice too), I have been working on my Kingston and Mahony lines for several years. Although I have many puzzle pieces, I can't put the puzzle together yet. My gggrandfather was Paul Kingston. According to my grandmother, HER mother, Mary/Maria Kingston, was not brought up Catholic, and when she married a Catholic, she was disowned. Because she was a widow when she married my ggrandfather, I am not sure if she became Catholic when she married her first husband or when she married my ggrandfather, Maurice Mahony. In any case, Mary would have been born about 1833, probably in the Drimoleague area.
I am trying to keep records in family groups by townland. There were many years when the Catholic church did add the name of the townland. They didn't do this for all years.

I did check through some odd records that I have and found this. 1-21-1816: John Kingston, son of Paul K. and Charity Kingston was baptized. I have no further information on this.
Can you tell me if your Paul and Charity were Catholic?

Jan

Hi Jan (Mine is pronouned Ja-niece)
No my Paul and Charity were Protestant of the Anglican faith.
Because of my problem of finding out mre information on like when they entered Canada and how many was in the Paul Kingston family I have heard 12 (no proof) etc. I am at a loss. They were supposedto have orginated from Kilronan in Ireland and the saying was a fore Paul Kingston was the Earl of Kilronan.. no doubt you have heard that story. Did your Kingston start in Canada or in the U.S.A. I think we all need help with this family.

Hi I am researching the Kingston of Toronto, Paul Kingston died in 1845 and is buried in St.James cemetery with his widow Anne who died in 1869. There is a Cherry Kingston, but not buried with Paul and Anne, I have been wondering how she is related. With Paul and Anne are at least 2 sons, Thomas and Samuel and a few married daugthers, Jane Kendrick and Anne Felstead. I have been trying to establish whether Paul who married Martha E. Johnston is a son of Paul and Anne or not. In the 1850s and 1860s he is living in Toronto and I have found 2 baptisms for his , but there must be more. Paul and Anne probably had a lot more kids, but hard to prove which are theirs. Where did you get the name Charity Langtry, I wonder if it is the same person as Cherry Kingston who is buried in old St.James.
