I have just found this thread.

My Kingstons came from Somerset - namely Cameley, Chew Magna. One of my ancestors, Edward William ... was a clock & watch maker / repairer from 1835 to 1853 ... the 1860 census shows him as a labourer with his address listed as High Street, Chew Magna, Somerset.
His father was Joseph Kingston (A Yoeman of Temple Cloud, Somerset, England). Joseph's father was Robert Kingston m. Ann Helliar (m. 24th Oct 1743 West Harptree Parish, Somerset, England).

Hi Cynthia,

Please use this email link to contact me regarding possible Kingston Family Tree information.

While I have a reasonable amount of information post the Kingston family arrival in New Zealand in 1860, I have very little before that time period…see below:

My Great Grandfather was Henry Kingston, born 1838.
We have no record of the exact birth date but know that the year is almost certain as he confirms it in an interview for the Cyclopaedia of NZ.
We have no record of Henry having a middle name.
He married Hester Stephens on 9/12/1858 in St James Church, Bristol. Marriage Entry No. 158.
His father is identified on the wedding certificate as Samuel Kingston.
We have no further information on Samuel Kingston at all. (In the 1881 census, there is a record of a Samuel Kingston (born circa 1799) and his daughter Hester Kingston (born 1844) born in Chew Magna and at the time of the census living in Clutton...it's a long shot but the ages appear about right).
According to interview in the Cyclopaedia of NZ, Henry tells of how he and his father were sawyers in the Somersetshire region.
We have no record for any of Henry's possible brothers & sisters.
Henry & Hester migrate to NZ in 1860.
They travel on the ship William Miles. Departed: Bristol (5 May 1860), Arrived: Lyttleton (21 Aug 1860)
If you would like a list of the descendants of Henry & Hester Kingston, please let me know.
Regards
John Kingston.

Hi Ruby

I guess I am your second cousin once removed!!

I have a lot of research on our family. Your gr-grandfather was Edward Ernest (known as Ernest) b 1881 in Babcary, his father was William b 1840. If you put a search on here on the family trees you should be able to pick up my tree and Robyn Allmans. I have not updated mine for quite a while and can go back a few more generations now.

I am not a paying member on here at the moment so I cannot email you directly, but any help I can be, just ask.

Happy researching

Helen

Hi, my family originated from south of somerset. I am from Australia and my great grandfather moved over here. my maiden name is Kingston and I would like to know more about my ancestors. My family has a lot more information. I believe that my great great grandfather owned a clock shop in somerset. I would love to know if that building still stands there?
