I am looking for any information regarding my great grandfather John Kirchner from Ohio. Born in Germany. I was told his company created the cement sidewalks and some bridges in the Dayton Ohio area and worked on some of the first levees in the Mississippi. He had two daughters Emma & Nora..not sure of other children. Wifes name may have been Sophia. Before my mother passed away she said John & his wife were ballroom dancers..not sure on that. His daughter Nora married Mark Stanley of the Cinncinatti Reds. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Yes they were married there and their childern were born there. I will have to ask Brenda what the dates were.

Thank you. So this Charles is the son of William Kirchner and Elizabeth Walker. Correct? It actually does make sense to me because I have hand written document by Ruby Kirchner Ford but it was a little unclear and I think this clarifies it.

Were Charles and Bertha married in Anne Arundel Co.? Were their children born there? Do you have a copy of marriage record you wouldn't mind sharing?

Thank you for your help.

Eunice

Thank you for your post. I actually questioned where that American Somoa death came from and I think they said they saw it somewhere and decided to put it in their tree to see what response they got. I told them these Kirchners were in Southern Maryland and that I knew of never moved. I have traced census records to 1880 for William Frederick (the only source that has this Frederick name is their daughter Virginia's(Jennie) death cert) Kirchner with wife Margaret Knopp. Margaret until 1910. I have not worked on this for a while because of frustration.

So you are descended from William and Margaret's son William who married Elizabeth Walker? I am descended from their (Wm and Marg) son Richard who married Ella Avery. I grew up in AA County but not in Shady Side area, did you?

For William Kirchner and Elizabeth Walker I have a son William Russell Kirchner listed but that is all. I didn't have a Charles listed, although I did find a death cert for a 4 month old names Charles who died in Brooklyn, AA county April 1903 and his brother Henry signed the cert. It didn't list any parent's names. I assume he is connected to the family but don't know how. I have done alot of research at the Annapolis archives and any Kirchner death certs etc. that I found that might be connected I have a copy of in a folder to hopefully connect.

Anyway, any family info you can give me on the children of William Kirchner and Elizabeth Walker etc. with sources would be appreciated so I can fill in my tree.

Thank you, E. Thomas

I cant offer much but Im grateful for your research. I am a direct descendant of Wilhelm 1832-1910 who beget William then Charles then Charles Louis then Charles Richard then me Karl. Like all of us I am looking to go further back prior to Wilhelm. At some point they list one of them dying in America Samoa which cant be correct. I am getting an idea we are from the city areas near Chemnitz Germany.

Hi Linda,

My great-grandfather (John) and his brother (Henry) Kirchner landed in New Jersey from Germany. Henry stayed there, while John moved to Evansville, IN. My grandmother is Anna Caroline Kirchner, daughter of John. Margaret Kirchner is her sister. Henry married Katie Hasmer (?), and they had a daughter Katherine.

We may be connected. Henry's passport application shows he was born in Machtilshausen - a small town west of Frankfurt.

Jerry Stofleth
Albuquerque, NM
505-897-8560

The family stayed in the Templeton, Ma. area ,except my grandfather who went to Minnesota.William and Louisa had 3 children-Henry(never married),Minna Louise & my grandfather William H. Kirchner. My Dad William H. Kirchner Jr. was his son. I can't find any record of my grandfather having brothers that came to the U.S. from Weimar Germany - just him.So I don't know how or if I am related to other Kirchner in the U.S.???
Henry Kirchner was my great-great grandfather. I remember his son, Charles Edward, as "Daddyo", living in a small frame house on the hill just west of I35 from the south. I only remember his 2nd wife, my "Mammaw Kirchner", as his first wife, Lena Sanders died giving birth to my grandmother, Evelyn Lamar "Mim" Kirchner Miller, who married Weldon Marion Miller and had my father, Edward Marion Miller, who died in June of 2008. I would love to trace the Kirchners back to Bremen, Germany, as I have heard fascinating stories about why he and his siblings left Germany.

Diane Lee Miller Ochs, Midland, TX

Andrew John was the son of Andrew Kirchner (1849-1921)
Andrew's father Johannes Wilhem (1809-1859) emigrated from Schwarzenbach am Wald, Bavaria (now Germany), arriving in New Orleans on May 31, 1847, with two of his brothers and his mother, Anna Margaretha (Baals) Kirchner. Their father Georg Kirchner had died in 1828. He was the son of Andreas (Andrew) Kirchner, born in 1736, who was the son of Georg Kirchner (1698-1746), son of Johan Georg (1668 – 1721), son of Hanß (1648 – 1721), son of Hans (1617-?), son of Hans (?-1640), Son of Marten , son of Friedel, who moved to Schwarzenbach in 1542, from where I don't know.

The other brothers Adam (my gggrandfather) and Andrew, settled in the Franklin (Lee County) Iowa area, another brother Johan had emigrated earlier, they settled in the Kahoka, Missouri area. Johan Wilhelm moved his family to the Cole county Missouri area around 1850.

The family has many descendants, which include me and you.

Mamie Vogt Roth was my grandmother.

I know his father's name was Thomas but no info on his mother.

I've always been told that Melchior had a brother named Casper. (they were named after the Magi)They were separated during immigration.

There might be a second brother, but I don't have any names.

I did find a Casper Vogt who arrived in NY on the Harmonia, September 2,1874. She said that they were separated during immigration to the US. Apparently they never found one another. Mother mentioned that Casper might have gone to Pittsburg area.

Any information would be appreciated.

Nestor Kirchner
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina ) Former Argentine President Nestor Kirchner died Wednesday after suffering heart attacks, state television reported.
The husband of Argentina's President Cristina Fernandez succumbed heart trouble as the couple waited in their home in the Patagonian city of Calafate to be counted in the nation's census. Fernandez was at his side when he died,
Kirchner, 60, had undergone an antioplasty after a heart attack in September.
Kirchner served as president from 2001-2007, bringing Argentina out of severe economic crisis and encouraging changes in Argentina's justice system that set in motion dozens of human rights trials involving hundreds of dictatorship-era figures who had previously benefited from an amnesty.

He recently was appointed secretary general of the Union of South American Republics, or Unasur, and was preparing for an intense 2011 election campaign in which either he or his wife would run again to maintain their hold on power..

You're not at a dead end yet. I found Karl Kitchner in the Social Security Death Index, born 21 Jun 1905, died May 1968, last address of record in Los Angeles, Northridge County, CA. His Social Security Number was 549-20-2379. The name and dates match the information you gave in your posting. You can order a photocopy or a computer extract of Karl's original application online. The application should give his parents' names and where he was born. I suggest ordering the photocopy even though it does cost more. That way you don't have to worry about transcribing errors. After you get the parent's names (and know that they did live in Hamburg), you can start searching in German records for more information about the German family, or if you have the money, hire a researcher in Germany.
And after you get the mother's name, you can check the immigration records online, or check now for Karl if you can narrow it down to a date (which war?). Those records sometimes tell where they lived and a relative's name.
Sometimes marriage licenses will show the names of the bride's and groom's parents also. Some states or counties have those online for free.
Good luck!

Karl also said that he also boxed. he left germany near time of war with his mother ? they came illegally, his mother got sick and right after arrival she died. Karl changed his name when he came here to kitchner illegally. he arrived at N.Y. then worked his way to california. he met my grandmother at twenty yrs younger then him they married and had 3 children my mother being the oldest. my mother thinks he also had a sister Katrine that went to ontario canada. and raised sheep. another sister anna marie and brother wilhelm but she was told that he was 1 of 14 kids. my grandmother and karl divorced and later my mom at 18 tried to find him and she found that he had died may 12 1968.
