Jesse Knight ( born about 1825 )

Several folk researching THOMAS KNIGHT & LUCINDA STANTON of Wilkes County,NC show them with a daughter born in 1825 named JESSE. My 2 x great-grandmother,REBECCA KNIGHT LAND was born about that time. I've believed for some time Thomas & Lucinda were her parents. I'm thinking her FULL name could have been, REBECCA JESSE or JESSE REBECCA KNIGHT. Anyone out there with that knowledge either yea or nay ????
Glenn Land

This is Peggy S. Knight. I hope everything is going great for you. I was looking on here and seen your name and several other names, I knew it was you, because of grandma and grandpa's name and Daryl and Brenda's name and it said I had a sister. I never knew that and I was told you passed away. My heart skipped a beat when I read that message. My number is 803-370-8177 I have two children a boy Tyler 17 and a girl Jenna (Virginia) 14, mom died before she was born. I have always loved you! I know mom made it hard for you to see me. I ran away several times as a child wanting to find you almost made it to Fort Mill one time. LOL Hope to hear from you. Love, Peggy

I've heard rumors too, but the one that says one of the Jones was on the law's side (sherrif?).. and was killed by assasian's shot thru the window as he held an infant. The thing is, until proven- it's just gossip.
This is what I know: James Thomas Jones apparently did not want a marriage between Knight and Jones, but yet Walter Jones and Rushie Knight married in 1925.
In the 1930 census, the wife of James T. Jones is a widow.
I think that it's safe to say that James Thomas Jones died close to 1925.

Robert (Bob) Knight & Carrie E. Bailey

I am looking for any info on a Robert (Bob) Knight who married a Carrie E. Bailey. I found Carrie listed in the 1930 census for Elmore co., Al and her husband wasn't listed was she was Married according to the census. Now the children listed was Mexir (not sure on the spelling was hard to read), James C., Tandy P., Grace A., and she also had 2 daughter married living with her but their husbands werent' on the census too. Their names were Sudie (Knight) Hogan and her 2 kids Turris and Anna M. Hogan. Then there was Hattie L. (Knight) Jones. Finally her mother was listed Elizabeth Bailey who was widowed. Now I am not sure but through rumors in my family line this line of Knights was the relationship to Stepfanie Kramer the famous movie actress. I would like to complete the relation if anyone else has info. Also so you know Robert (aka Bob in my family) Knight was my great grandfather James Morgan Knight's brother. Please feel free to email me at Lovingdoebaker68@aol.com . Thanks.
Carrie Elizabeth Bailey Knight was my great grandmother. My grandfather was her son, Tandy Pennington knight(born 12/12/14 and died on 7/4/97) My grandfather rarely spoke of his dad, but my grandmother told of how mean he was. The poison in the well is a new one to me, but I was told he shot a man while he lived in Jones Corner, where the family homestead was located. Would love to share a few stories of what I know. Feel free to email me. Thanks

The book in reference was compiled around 2001/2002 by Dallas Knight and Paul Watts. It is the Aquilla Knight and Elizabeth Watts family tree. The man in Navy was a distant cousin and had researched the Knight linage foe his grandaughter. There is a manual script avaiable as also a book. Dallas Knight/

If you can find a connection to Joseph Knight born 1772 in Virginia. He married Judith Dameron 1801 in Caswell, North Carolina.First of nine children was William Woodson Knight born 1805 in North Carolina. William married Susanna Payne Harrison. Fifth child of eleven Robert Richardson Knight born Nov. 4,1845 Milan, Missouri. Richard married Martha Ellen Harris. Ten children from this marriage, the seventh being Willard Jesse Knight born June 5,1881 Union, Oregon. Willard married Mildred Inez Preston. Thus one of four of there children was my Grandfather Claude W. Knight.

Madia, I'm wondering if we might be related through the Knight family. My knight family as yours were are early Oregon residents. My great grandfather's name is Ira Willard Knight, comming from Vermont (I think?)then to Oregon in the middle 1850s. I have the marriage license issued to him when he married Lamira Bedles Stewart at Birch Creek, Wasco County, Oregon. on Sept. 13, 1860. Media, do you have any family members that might be connected to this Knight family line? ..... If not it sure is interesting that both have the Willard in there names.
Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Bob Waddill

Hi Kellie,

He answered 'arrived free' on one of the census. I havent been able to trace his actual arrival though. The information provided by ivorex above led me to do a search myself. I found henry's parents as henry and mary rather than henry and elizabeth. the mary seems to have been a mary peasnall which would fit, since she came from a family of brickmakers and that was henry's occupation when he came to australia. im still wondering if there was another henry knight with parents william and elizabeth though, as the date of birth given by ivorex is the same.

Hi

Im searching for the date and place of birth of Henry Knight, who came to Australia in 1831 as an unassisted passenger. I have his death certificate which states only that he was from Northampton England, but no date or parents are given. He is recorded as being 86 years of age in 1887. Im afraid I am at a brick wall as I cant seem to get any further. Does any one know anything else about henry?

I have to go to my file to remember his name. I think he spent 20 years in the Navy.
Don Knight
Editor and Publisher of The Knight Letter
