Hi jempyne1, I'm a Knighton and my family tree traces my family back to 1700. Your particular Knighton's are not in my tree but they are likely to be distant cousins that I haven't come across yet. The Knighton family still lives in the Northamptonshire area so most Knighton's that lived in that area are likely to be related. I'll send you an invite to my tree.

Knightons of Raunds Northants

Interested to see if anyone has researched the Knighton families of Raunds and the local villages in Northants, England.
I am I believe descended from an Elizabeth daughter of Thomas Knighton and Mary Garratt m 1821 in Raunds. Thomas born 1799 to a John Knighton and wife Elizabeth Driver (m 1797 ) John and Elizabeth had 8 children between 1798 and 1810.
Keen to push back the line if I can and find out more about the family. Thomas seems to have been a substantial farmer with a farm of 480 acres in 1861 and employoing 8 men.

Siamon Knighton From Florida Changed Name to:

I am looking for any information on my Grand Fathers family.
He was born Siamon Knighton ( I am not sure if this is a first or middle name, I have heard the name James associated with him as well) He later in life changed his name to Robert Jessie Jones and Married Lottie Mae Matthews. Her family was from Mississippi. Florence I think. They eventually settled in Brooker Florida and are both buried in Deaden Cemetery.

The Douglas Register had a marriage for Molly Freeman to James Knighton Sept 1795 with son Moses born Sep 1795 & baptised 25 Feb 1796.

The Douglas Register has a marriage for Barbara Hall to James Knighton on 17 Nov 1796 with son Mordecai born 17 Nov 1796 and baptisted 30 Apr 1797.

Of the children listed I am most interested in all I can find out about Moses, Lydia and Mordecai. Especially any marriages of Lydia's. I do have some information on the family that I would be happy to share.

Hi Sheila, my short answer to your question is; your Wm Knighton Naggle 1704, is almost certainly related to My Wm Knighton Naggle 1694.

Both were baptised in the same area (Smalley Derbys) as the two WKNs had different parents this means that they were cousins or at least 2nd cousins. We have to find a family that contains both your Robert and my Jeremiah(father of my WKN)

The info that I am working from was gleaned in the 1980s, a time when I was not as meticulous with sources etc. So my information needs to be double checked. I live close to Nottinghamshire Archives so it should be possible to get copies of Smalley Dbys PR entries.

I tend not to trust the IGIs, I use them as a guide only.
I will devote some time to this period of the KNs

I can send you a gedcom of my Knighton/Naggles so far. It would be interesting to see your family from 1704 to maybe 1900.

Hi ,,, I am related to William Knighton Naggle b. 1705 Smalley, Derbyshire.... He is my 7th GGrandfather.
I have his father as Robert 1666 and his Grandfather as Robert 1631.
Does your tree link up with any of these???

Hi ,,, I am related to William Knighton Naggle 1705 .... He is my 7th GGrandfather.
I have his father as Robert 1666 and his Grandfather as Robert 1631.
Does your tree link up with any of these???

Do you still have the bible? Hi... My great grandfather was James Franklin Knighton and married Eliza Pauline Dempsey. They lived in Jasper, FL and Madison, FL for several years. They are buried in Madison, FL... They had a son named Eli Whitney Knighton Whose date of birth was 7-10-1922...

This is not much, but there is a SC_Death Certificate (DC#14583) for a (white male widower) Oved D. Knighten* (born Apr 19, 1875;SC died Sep 20, 1939; Newberry, SC). He was a farmer married to Sara Suber. Anyway, his death certificate lists his Dad's name as G. W. Knighton* and his Mom's name as Ann Braggs (both born in SC). His DC was witnessed by L. H. Knighton of Newberry, SC and Oved was sent to Fairview for interment.

*Yes, they typed Knighten for Oved and Knighton for his Dad and the witness.

James George Knighton's father was William Calvin Knighton.

I'm a Knighton by birth. My Grandfather is Curtis Knighton. I was born with the name Traylor which the man that adope my dad and uncle gave them his last night. I didn't know about my name until about 2 years ago when my grandmother got sick. She as passed on last year and now I'm torn between two worlds per say I would like to know if this is the knightons that I need to looking for. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Joanne and I work for the Columbia County Museum Association in St. Helens, Oregon and I am working on a display of the Henry Knighton Family and of the home that was buil here in the 1850's. I notice that you have been getting information on this part of the family and I was wondering if you have come across any photo's. I did find out that after Henry's death that Elizabeth married again to a man by the name of Charles Henry Wilkinson but have not found any leads as to when she passed away and where she is buried. Yes Bryan, we are cousins. Joe Bill was my uncle. Aunt Lora Mae might be able to help you with some of the information. I think it's Aunt Patsy that had the family tree researched back to where they had to go to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to get some of the ancestors names. I think she is still in California. I had tried to get a copy of it four or five years ago but she never sent me one. My father, William "Howard" Knighton, was from Woodruff, SC, which I believe is in Spartanburg County. My grandfather was E. E. "Ed" Knighton. There were/are quite a few children in his family. I can't remember all of them off the top of my head but, I can get the info for you and email it.
