Tamer Halstead-Koen

trying to locate more info on a Tamer Halstead Koen. We have been showing her as a Koen that married a Halstead and then married our ancestor Deliverance Gray. However, we can't find any record showing there was a Tamer Koen. Even cked out Koen and Kin bood which does show a Deliverance Gray being named in will of Rueben Koen. This is where some speculate that this is A male Deliverance married to a Koen girl but there is never mention of a Koen named Tamer BUT there is a girl listed as a dtr of one of the Koens whose name was Deliverance. So, I am beginning to think maybe our Tamer Halstead wasn't a Koen to begin with. So, does anyone know of a Tamer Halstead that would have been aged right to marry a Deliverance Gray in Tn in 1791-have seen copy of the marriage bond. Does anyone have any bonified info that there was a Tamer Koen because looking thru all the geneology stuff I've seen other than family trees with the Gray's doesn't show a Tamer being a dtr of any Koen. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The actual bond says Tamer Halstead to Deliverace Gray. 6/29/1791
http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nashvillearc...
The marriage book says Palmer Halstead to Deliverance Gray.
6/29/1791 [The bond was the original record, the book was not created until many years later.]

There is no proof that I know of that Tamer Koen married first a Halstead and then Deliverance Gray. But this is the best circumstantial evidence as to who Tamer was.

Records show that Reuben Koen who was unmarried had as heirs his brother and the husbands of his sisters. John B. Jackson and Vincent Cartwright were married to Koen girls, sisters of Reuben. It stands to reason that Deliverance Gray was also married to a sister of Reuben.

Davidson Co. Deed Book G:297 Filed May 30, 1808, Written June 25, 1803
"Benjamin Koen, Daniel Koen, Lemuel Koen all of Robertson Co. and Deliverance Gray, John B. Jackson and Vincent Cartwright all heirs of Reuben Koen, deceased, sell to David Koen for $500, their interest in a tract of 197 acres."

I had a search on for years to get the book, finally got one online two years ago. I hope you can find one, it is interesting. One came available last year but I think my brother-in-law bought it. Send me your email and I will send you a note if I receive a notice that another is available.
Will do. My hope is that my Mom will find hers and leave it to me. Unless I'm legally barred from doing so, I plan to scan it and produce a search-able pdf file, unless I can get Google or someone else to do so. I'm fairly certain that the descendants of the author would not object to this. Yours, Jack Davis

Sorry for interjecting, but my Mother is a Koen and believes she still has this book which she bought years ago from the author when The author had many available. She says she made a copy for me long ago, but I haven't located it either! Do you have a source for obtaining the actual book or are you talking about a "burned" copy? I'd like to acquire a good clean book for my records. Thank you.

John W. Koen and Francis Mitchell "Mitch" Koen: Indian Agents: Oklahoma Territory

These brothers came from Kaufman County, Texas, to Indian country/Oklahoma Territory in the late 1870s/early 1880s. They married first-cousin 1/4 Arapaho ladies. I am trying to determine exactly what employment position they had with the Indian Agency, i.e., were they "Indian Agents" or did they have other positions? "Mitch" eventually settled and farmed until his death in Kingfisher County, OK and John W. returned to Texas until his death. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Actually there was a Garrison Church in Boston! Churchs that were connected to a garrison or fort were often called "Garrison Church. Now that I have the immigration records on both Rebecca Gallagher and Francis Koen, I know that they both immigrated to the US before they were married. So it is my belief that they were married in a garrison church - probably in or near Boston as that is where they lived and their children were born. By family tradition, Francis was in the military.

Just talked with my mother, Marguerite Waller Fawks, born 1919 in possibly Esther, MO. Her grandmother was Cora Belle. My grandmother was Mamie Koen Waller. I did find a copy of the book and borrowed it to make my own copies of the pages about the Missouri Lead Belt branch of the Koen family. I believe I can still find those pages and would be happy to make further copies and send them to whoever would like them. My email address is jafterry@aol.com. My mother is phoning her sisters, Georgia Meeker and Mary Belle Moegle, to see if she can find out who in the family might have more information. I do have some old photos which I'm willing to share and would love to find additional ones of the family. Haven't looked at them in years. I was born in 1942 and am included in the book as Judith Ann Fawks. I also remember attending Koen Family Reunions and still get the notices every year.
