Actually think we are talking about two different people...however believe they may be related. The Kratzner name is Prussian before Germany invasion. Attaching a file downloaded describing my family side...please tell me if anything looks familiar.

During research in Dodge found many Kratzners on property and some stories.

I show that Emelie (as the name I have spelled) was born in 1861 in Dodge County, WI. However I show that she married a Henry Baer in 1883 based on a marriage certificate. The name Kratzner and Kraetzner or alternate spellings since the original German had an umlaut 'a'.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information about a Kratzer who married Letha Lea Chandler. In her sister's obituary from 1960, she is listed with the surname Kratzer and living in Oklahoma - no town listed. Letha was born in 1903 and died in 1967. She had been married before and had children, but to my knowledge, had no children with the Kratzer husband. It seems that either he died or they divorced, as she was married to someone else when she died in 1967. Thanks for any clues!

Good Luck in your quest. I have begun an inquiry into a cousin of a different name that is said to be a Sgt. and a POW - MIA 1950 serving as a Korean War Veteran. I'd suggest contacting your congressman to fast forward the process. He or she could send you a PDF File of a form to complete in order to gain information of your cousin. In closing I am related to the Kratzer family. My Great - Great Uncle was from Lititz, Pennsylvania. His son, my Great Uncle Percie Kratzter was a Pennsylvania State Police Trouper living in the Greensburg, Pennsylvania area. Email me later. brucerodeheaver1@yahoo.com .
Bruce

Unfortunately, I do not yet have any parents listed for Uriah. He is part of a branch that married into the family I'm working on for my best friend's family tree.

Uriah's son Marion married Bernadette McMahon November 18, 1911 in Parkersburg, Butler, Iowa. He died February 21, 1913 in Houston, Harris, Texas I believe from complications due to rheumatism. He had gone down there "to see about some land" according to his obituary in the Waterloo Reporter of Feb. 26, 1913. He left behind his wife and two sons: Marion Joseph and Robert James.

I managed to find a number of articles about Marion, but not much about Uriah. If you are interested, let me know at ladyamesindy@gmail.com and I can send you the information I do have.

Marianne Spencer
Indianapolis, Indiana

I am doing research on my husband's side of the family. I pretty much have what I need until I get to his 3rd great grandfather. His name is Frank Kratzer b. about 1830 Germany and was married to Enin or Anna Strauss b. 1844 in Holland. I have them from the 1880 census in Louisiana, but have nothing else before that. Can anyone help me with this? I don't know any other states they might have come from. Their first 2 children were born in Texas but, other than that I can't find them in Texas either.

Mary Ann Walter / Jacob P. Kratzer

This may be of interest to everyone on this board.

For years there has been a bit of mystery surrounding the origins of Mary Ann Walter but, after weeks of studying the documented trail, we can now continue to follow the Mary Ann Walter trail farther back in time.

Mary Ann Walter was born in October of 1846. Her parents were Samuel F Walter and Catharine Long of Jackson Twp., Union, Snyder County, Penna. Her siblings were Jerimiah, Emaline, William, Thomas and Benjamin Walter. There was another sister, Elizabeth, but it is believed that she died as an infant.

Mary Ann was married twice. First, she was married to Levi J. Beaver and they had a son, of the same name, born in 1862. There is a newspaper notice stating that Mary Ann filed for divorce in May of 1867 (Paper dated May 16)

Documented in Hessler's Church records, Kratzerville, Pa., On May 10, 1868 Mary Ann Walter married Jacob P. Kratzer.

In the marriage record for Union/Snyder County we find Samuel Walter married to Catharine Long on December 25, 1842 at Hessler's Church in Kratzerville. Marriage performed by Rev. J. P. Shindel.

Cathering Long b. October 1820
Samuel Walter b. December 1814

The motivation and clues for obtaining this information begin with the 1880 census for Jackson Twp, Snyder County where, after reviewing the document a hundred times over that years, in the home of Jacob P & Mary Ann Kratzer, there appears a 'Levi J Beaver' listed as 'Step-son'.

Never mind the other questions that come into play. Like, she was born in 10/1845 and had a baby in 1862... So, she either got married at 15 or 16 or she simply got pregnant out of wedlock at 16. I'll keep you posted.....

I have additional dates and other info that I hope to post soon.

Hope this info helps

Best Wishes All
POW/MIA Korean War KRATZER

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Lehigh County, Pennsylvania as his home of record.

Soldier: EDWARD CHARLES KRATZER, JR
Born: 1930
Date of loss: April 17, 1953 MIA
US52209043
E Co 31st Inf Rgt, 7th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I have just completed a short online article which correctly identifies the wife of Henry Kratzer as Elizabeth Fuchs, and not as the daughter of Cornelius Van Horn. Although the Fuchs connection was previously known, it had heretofore been largely ignored in prefence to the more 'esteemed' connection to the Van Horns.

Article can be read here:

http://webs.lanset.com/azazella/vanhornmyth.htm

I would like to share a 1860's photo taken in Hagerstwon, MD of Sara Kratzer as a young woman. On the front is written, Nannies Aunt Sara Kratzer. I bought the photo on Ebay in hopes of returning it to family/descendants. I am not related. If interested please contact me. There is no charge. This is a hobby of mine.-Penny

Northampton/Snyder Co., PA Kratzers

I have been doing some untangling of the families of Philip and Henry Kratzer of Northampton Co., Penna. In the belief that only one man of each name originally existed, many people have mixed and matched what are actually two individuals of each name. I have posted the following article, which may be of interest to anyone having Northampton or Snyder Co. Kratzer ancestry:

http://webs.lanset.com/azazella/kratzer.htm
