Looking for any further information on Joseph Phelps Lack. I have his date of birth/place (April 6, 1925 in Maud, Oklahoma) and death date/place (Albany, Oregon on February 1, 1988) . I am researching information on the people who have been pastors of our church in Anderson, Indiana. He was a pastor in 1955. In the phone book he is also listed as a carpenter. Also any information on his wife Vera May would be appriciated also.

Can anyone give me a lead of where to look for Dennis J. Lack, son of Joshua Franklin Lack & Anna Jane Martin. I have only found him in 1910, age 14 and can not find him after that.
In 1917 he married Ella Bishop in Smith Co, MS, they had five children that I know of, Denson, Delton, Ann, Rachel and Doris.
Dennis was a brother to my grandmother Hettie Luvna Lack. An aunt told me he was a preacher.

"Jesse G. Lack, 76, of Scotland [, AR] died Sunday, October 23, 2005. He was born March 24, 1929 in Wardell, MO to the late Henry C. and Cora Lack.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a retired construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rosa, by a son, and by ten brothers and sisters.
Survivors include children, Robin Lack of Formosa; Daniel Lack of Scotland; Vickie Slama of Vancouver, WA, and Rebecca Jenkins of Emitsburg, TA [?]; two brothers, Coral Lack of Vancouver, and Lovel Lack of Camby, OR; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
Services will be held Friday, October 28 at Scotland Baptist Church with interment at Foster Cemetery by Roller-McNutt of Clinton."

Indian Creek News in Tribune: The dwelling house of Harry Lack burned to the ground last Saturday morning about 10 o'clock. It is not known how the fire started. Mrs. Lack was away from the house leaving the five small children upstairs. She arrive at the house just in time to save the children and was unable to get out any of the furnishings except one bed. The building was insured.

Looking for where William Lack might have moved from to arrive in Newton Bromswold in 1700s (prob between 1745 and 1770). He was the father of Thomas and Elizabeth Lack and died in Newton Bromswold in 1810. There was no record of his birth or marriage in Newton Bromswold but he would have been born in about 1745. Wondering if there is any history of families moving from somewhere else following work or something. Thomas his son was born in Newton Bromswold in 1770. From 1795 Thomas paid 6d pa to rent small holding including a field called "Lack's Close" and then after 1820 was the landlord of the local pub (The Sun, now called The Swan).

She was told that one son changed his last name to Lack and another Bolislaus Lachawicz kept the name, this happend after an arugement.

Any truth to this? I am related to Bolis's wife Violet.

Origins of the Lack name

According to the book Rye's Norfolk Families, the name LACK is of Roman origin. He states that the three oldest
Norfolk names are Dack, Lack, Mack and Tuck, from the Roman Dacius, Lacius,Macius, and Tucius.
A large part of Norfolk, England was given to the Romans to settle in after the Iceni revolt, the land being taken from that tribe and they being dispersed as slaves.
I hope this is of interest.
