I dont know if we ever exchanged information or not, but I was just going through these old threads and saw this one. My grandmother was born a Turgeon, Arthur J. Turgeon was her grandfather. Could you please share the information you have? You can email me at daisymom411@msn.com if that would be easier for you. Thank you so much and I hope to hear from you soon!

After thinking about it I believe that you should tell that guy gordon that his best bet is to order a copy of his father's social security card application. It costs less than $30 and will have all the information he needs about who his father's parents were. The same is true for his mother if he wishes to pursue that line. Also, the funeral home will have some information you might have overlooked. And wish him good luck.

Hi, Freeman does not appear in my file, so I checked the Cota La Croix file and also did not find it. The closest I could com was a marriage record for a Francis Xavier Lacrose and a Cornelia Vandol dated Feb 25 1875 in Monroe county MI.

I had another correspondent with a laCroix line. They also were in Michigan but were not in any way connected to my line. I will try to find that report. It must be somewhere in the depths of my computer memory.

I would be happy to help you in your search, but I would need some dates and more precise information about the family. You many contact me directly through my email which is available on my profile here.

Re: Lacroixs in Louisiana

"Marriage contracts of New Orleans 1804-1820 Notarial files of Marc Lafitte" gives information about the marriage of an Antoine Raby to Eloise Victoire Lacosse in 1815. Antoine's parents are listed as Pierre Raby (deceased) of Limoges, France and Anne Taquine. I don't think that the Pierre mentioned is "my" Pierre because in the birth record of his grandson Valentin Raby (SLC Vol. 5, p. 320-1), his birthplace is listed as Angouleme. Also, SLC records notes that the Antoine who married Eloise was a widower of "Jerusy, an American".

You are right, there are far too many Antoine Rabys, including a FPC who fought in the Battle of New Orleans and one listed as a "tailleure" who lived at 49 Dauphine in 1811 (current address is 1026-1028 Dauphine).

I know he married Marie Lacroix on June 30, 1885 and then remarried Marie Agnes Boulet on September 4, 1899 at St. Michel Cathedral in Sherbrooke, PQ. He married Antoinette Bluteau 1671 and 2nd marriage to Bartheleme Mailoux 1681.
I have most of what I was looking for but for Omer Paul Lacroix born 1921 son of Adelard (Edward)Lacroix and Anna Flora Louise Lefebvre.
It believed Omer died in a car accident sometime in the early 1950's. I cannot find any death details in either Canada or England UK.
Does anyone have any info regarding Omer Paul Lacroix.
Regards Jackie (England UK)
Hi Rich: Are u related to the Adelaide Lacroix who married Joseph D. Michard in Fall River, MA but came from Quebec, CA? They married in l891 in Fall River and the name is spelled Michand but the real name is Michaud. I have traced part of the family and today I am going again to the French Library in Wonsocket, RI to search more LaCroix's and Michaud's.This library is fascinating and I spend a lot of time there. Today they have a geneoloist speaking and then they will be open one more Saturday. They are closed the month of July but will reopen in August. Regards, Eve Zito(Adelaide and Joseph's granddaughter.

Many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I forgot to tick the 'Alert' box and have only just picked up.
Made tremendous progress since I posted message and now have the family dating back to the 1500's in France.
David Lacroix was born 1647 and was the first of the Lacroix's early settlers in Quebec, sadly I haven't be able to discover what his profession was on arrival.
Still nothing on Omer Lacroix's death, can't find a death index for him anywhere but then nobody ever said 'family research' was going to be easy. Will keep ploddingalong.
Thanks so much for your tip about contacting te Knowlton newspaper.
Kindest regards Jackie.

ADELARD ALBERT LACROIX born Quebec 1893
Son of Henri Lacroix and Clare Forget
Marriage 1815 to Anna Louise Lefebrve
Children of marriage
Joseph Eugene
Georges Archie
Marie Emma
Paul Omer
Paul Omer is where my interest lies. He arived in England as a soldier during WW11,married Evelyn Joyce Furlonger. Paul Omer went back to Canada at the end of the war. His wife and son followed but his wife came back to England a few years later with their 2 sons.
Paul Omer sailed to England a few months after his wife and then appears to have disappeared.
The story is that he died in a car accident but I've not been able to uncover any death cert in England or Canada.
Can anyone throw any light on Paul Omer (known as Omer)
Regards Jackie.

I know this is a long dead thread, but...

I have some LaCroix family in my tree. Not much to go on, but I've asked that side of the family if anything looks familiar.

I show Nelson LaCroix married to Helen E. Spring. Helen was born abt 1914 in Leominster. Helen was the sister of my grandmother, Alice (Spring) Wiles.

If/When I get a resonse, I'll post it up later...

Pete

On Joyce's remarriage, does she state she is a widow or divorced?
City directories are published every year, tracking him through the years will narrow down when he died and a death reg search can then happen.
or
Search other children, ie; Omer's siblings and track them down and ask ;-)
Name:	Marie Emma Flora Lacroix
Event Year:	1920
Event:	Naissance (Birth)
Religion:	Catholique
Place of Worship or Institution:	Knowlton (St-Édouard)
Province:	Québec (Quebec)

Name:	Joseph Eugene Albert Lacroix
Event Year:	1916
Event:	Naissance (Birth)
Religion:	Catholique
Place of Worship or Institution:	Knowlton (St-Édouard)
Province:	Québec (Quebec)

An ad in the paper of what was Knowlton and now is the amalgamated towns and called Lac Brome? may get a response.

Omer Paul Lacroix born in Knowlton Quebec 1921

I'm researching the French Canadian and English ancestry of my teenage foster son, not only has this turned out to be a really interesting project for him but it has also been so beneficial in helping him to understand who he is and where his strengths and talents have come from...

We have managed to trace both sides of his family back to the early 1800's but what happened to his great grandfather remains a mystery. The story passed down says his gt grandfather died in a car accident approximately 1950 but we have not been able to find a death in England or Canada for him.

Omer Paul Lacroix (sometimes spelt Lacroise) was born in Knowlton Quebec 1921, he was the son of Adelard Albert Lacroix and Anna Louise Lefebrve.

Omer's wedding (1945) certs states:
Omer was a 'gunner' in the Canadian Army and was stationed at the Bordon barracks Hants.
Omer married Evelyn Joyce Furlonger (1928-1986) in the parish church of Lynch (nr Redford)

Evelyn (known as Joyce) was one of several children born to Frederick Arthur and Sally Furlonger.
Frederick Furlonger was the gardener on the Hooklands estate Redford Midhurst, the family lived in Hooklands cottages (then 2 cottages, now one beautiful very large house)

Omer returned to Canada and Evelyn shortly followed as a war bride to the home of Omers family, she sailed on the Queen Mary with young son John.

Evelyn returned to England Oct/Nov 1948 with young son John and small baby Albert. She was returning back to the home of her parents.............but the following month Omer sailed back to England from Quebec (via Belfast) he states he is now a car mechanic and is to staying Midland Reford Sussex (I think the Midland should actually read Milland)

From this date I have not be able to find any further detail of Omer.

Evelyn did remarry in 1961 to Stanley Turner.
At some stage (possibly before or after her 2nd marriage the family lived in Rose Cottage Woolbeing Midhurst)

We are very anxious to discover what happened to Omer, if he did die in a car accident where was it?

We have not been able to make contact with the Canadian based Lacroix family, the English based descendants of Lacroix's have no info whatsoever and have been amazed and delighted at what we have uncovered.
We haven't been able to make contact with any of Evelyn Furlonger's family, consequently we would really appreciate any help/advice/directions other researchers can offer.

Kindest regards Jackie Colson.

Omer Lacroix born 1929 and baptized in Messines Quebec, I have found the details but have to wait to see my friend to come back from holiday to translate the details for me.

Apparently, the young Omer Lacroix was in England (no idea why) and married an English girl Evelyn Furlonger in Sussex England, 2 children were born John and Albert.

Omer returned to Quebec for some unknown reason and almost immediately died in a car accident.

His wife Evelyn took both children to Quebec, presumably to meet Omer's family, with her children she returned to England 1949, she later remarried, unfortunately, neither are alive.

I have not been able to find any recorded details of Omer's death and his family in England have no information at all.

Most greatful for any advise/direction that you can offer.

Kindest regards Jackie (Somerset UK)

Names and Tribe sounds very similar, but we are confused..., our records show Elizabeth Courier, a Santee, was the mother of Lewis La Croix, Wahpeton, who married Rosa Lee Spotted Tail. Will await a response or comments.

LaCroix or Cross Families of Sturbridge or Southbridge

I am seeking ancestry for the Phillip LaCroix family, aka Cross. Census of 1870 & 1880 finds the Cross family in Sturbridge; my g-grandmother Clara was born 1866-1867. Some family members think Clara was either born in Southbridge or Westville, MA. She married William L. Parsons and they lived many years in CT, where they are buried. I would welcome any birth, baptism and marriage information for Clara, her parents and siblings.
