LADNER/PENDER of Cornwall

Happy New Year Everyone,

As a New Year begins I'm making another attempt to contact others researching my ggrandather, Joseph LADNER's line.

Joseph was the third son and sixth child of Charles Francis LADNER and Mary (Margaret) Ann PENDER. Charles Francis and Mary Ann emigrated from Cornwall on 3 Jun 1874 and took up property at Drayton, Queensland, Australia. The street where the family home still stands is named LADNER Street.

Charles Francis and Mary Ann followed Charles's sister, Jane, and her husband William James PEAK, who had immigrated to Drayton on 28 Jun 1858. Charles and Jane were the children of John Henry LADNER and Mary TREGURTHA.

John Henry and Mary had eight children - Jane, Sarah (Sally) Weymouth, Joseph, Sally Weymouth, Nancy, Charles Francis, Nanny and Mary Weymouth. All were baptised in Sancreed. (Mary's parents were John TREGURTHA and Sarah WEYMOUTH - thus the WEYMOUTH name was given to three of their daughters).

Charles Francis and Mary Ann's five eldest children - Mary, Charles, Jane, John and Elizabeth Jessie were all born in Tresco, Cornwall. My great-grandfather, Joseph, and his younger brother, William Francis, and sisters, Emma Tregurtha and Edith Dora, were born at Drayton.

I have my LADNER line back to Richard (b 1570 in Cornwall). I don't have a wife for Richard, but have that he had six children - John, Richard, Matthew, William, Tristram and Mary. My line follows from Tristram (b 1607).

Do you recognize any of these folk? I would love to hear from you if you do.

Sandra
Searching for info. regarding my GG grandmother's line. She was Celestine Ladner, whose father was Julien L., then Jean Baptise L. (jr.), his father also Jean Baptiste L., his father apparently Luis Christian Ladner. Basing most of this on info on this website but the dates and ages and location (Miss.) seem to fit. Mystified as to how it is that Julian was born in Switzerland as I expected France would be his birthplace!

Any guidance or corrections would be appreciated!

Penny

Hi, my name is Judith Ladner I live in Northern California. I was born in Gulfport, Mississippi. I heard about a book called the Ladner Odyssey and have had a near impossible time finding it. I wrote a letter several months ago to the Mobile Genealogical Society but have never received a response. Does anyone know where I can get a copy (or 3 or 4) of this book? Thanks very much for your help cousins!

My grandfather Carl Ladner who now resides in Georgia, told me travel to and look up my "kin" in mississippi sometime. There is "Ladner Road" that does link to the family, but I was wondering if anyone has any additional information about the road or whereabouts of remaining family members. My grandfather was one of 13 or 14 children. His mother was full blooded Cherokee Indian. I want to be able to locate some family members, and I heard that there a many still living, but I just don't know where to start! Thanks.

Wondering if this occured by any chance among the Ladner line, as my mother told me this happened somewhere in her family (Lepre, Moran, Ladner...?) all living in and around Biloxi, Mississippi in the 1800's. I think the children of these couples would have been "double first cousins"?

Thanks!

Several years ago while searching for the location of my greatgrandmother's grave, I learned that she and her first husband, Richard Stockton Field, had divorced and she had remarried Timothy Ladner of Bay St. Louis, MS. They are listed in the 1910 census as living on the intersection of Dunbar and Carroll streets with her three children...the youngest my grandfather. He had never told the family about the divorce...so it was quite a surprise! Her name was Olive Enold Williams Field Ladner and we have been told that she and a daughter died sometime between 1910 and 1916.
Would appreciate any information about her Ladner family.
Thanks.

Ladner/Koenenn

Although I've been researching these names for years, tonight was the first time I've looked through this message board. I noticed on this list was well as some other rootsweb trees that Sylvester Ladner who m. Octavia Koennen was listed as the son of Leon Ladner and Eveline Morrison. However, my grandfather, Cornelius Ladner (who was a MS State Senator if Pauline Brown is still reading these) told me that his grandparents were John Mary Ladner and Mary Smith. In fact, he used the fact that his grandmother was a Smith when he ran for state senator and carried the district because of it. My grandmother also told me that people in the area called Sylvest, "Smithy/Smitty" as a nickname due to his mothers name. I'm also very interested in any Koenenn information that may be out there. I've found an Edmund Koenenn born to Cyrille and Marie Anne Bertrand back in Pont-a-Mousson, France but can get no farther. I would love to share information (I also have some pictures of Sylvest Ladner and his brothers as well as some Koenenns) if anyone is interested. -- Elizabeth Ladner

NJ and PA Ladner's

I hate to ask for the world but here it goes. Does anyone out there have any family units for the family of Ladner's that lived in NJ in the middle to late 1700's. Although I have some information, I have not been able to make a trip to NJ to see what I could find. (I have a 3 and 1 yr old!) The following are some names and dates of some Ladner's that have been known to exist:
Morris Co (from index of wills)
Benjamin 1787
John 1822
Rachel 1828
Somerset Co
Jonathan 1825
Middlesex Co.
Robert 1792
(1779 tax list Andrew Ladner)
Gloucester Co.
Louis 1894
Essex Co.
Robert 1718
John M Ladrer? 1855
Names listed in Abstracts of wills 1670-1730
mostly witnesses
Absolom
Daniel
Sarah
1730-1750 abstract wills listed in depts due
William Ladnor
It is my hope that I can eliminate some of these as potential family members. David Ladner who parents I am in search of, was suppose to have been born June 1, 1790 in Plainfield NJ. He moved to PA in 1812 after his marriage to Betsey Thorn also in Plainfield NJ. I hope there is a kind soul who can help me out. It is not for the lack of not wanting to do the leg work in NJ, on the contrary I'd love to......want to watch my kids? tsjmlad@ptd.net

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and thought I would just add a little information on Elisha Ladner in case someone is interested. He was a bare knuckle fighter and supposed to be a tremendous fighter. Also, I only have him listed as having 2 wives, #1 Cynthia Bounds marriage date of 28 Jan. 1847, and #2 Francis Murphy. I also only have one wife listed for his twin, Elijah. Her name was Martha Bounds. I have a marriage date for 06 Feb. 1848. Georgia

I'm looking for information about Elijah Ladner who lived in either Harrison County, MS or Pearl River County, MS. My grandfather was named Elisha Ladner and had a farm in Pearl River County MS near Poplarville. He had nine children. He was married to Annie Rester and was born Feb 14, 1869 and died in March 1957. I think Elisha was a twin but I don't know about any of his siblings. I only have unsubstantiated facts about Elijah who may have remarried after his first wife's death and may have married a widow whose name was either Lanora or Lenora Kelly Wheeler. Elijah may have been in Henley's Co 41 from Ms in the confederate war. Thnks for any help. Margaret

Ladner, Hubert or Aaron and kin

My natural grandfather and great-grandfather were born in Pearl River County (Poplarville ?)I would like to have any information anyone may have on any family members left alive, or any deceased. My mothers' name is Sylvia Delores Ladner Young. She is still alive. She also was born in Poplarville. My natural grandmother, who was divorced from Hubert Ladner, was named Myrtle Mae Mitchell Ladner. Hubert died in the mid-to late 60's, and Myrtle died in 1977. Any info would be greatly appreciated, no matter how little it may be.
