Hi my name is Eleni and i looking for my grandfather mane's Elias Ristof..he born in Rosna-macedonia-greece in 1894 ithink...and he goes in usa in 1912.He die in 12/1961 on hospital Dayton,and him wife was in a house for old people name ""PILLARS"".He live's in Clark-Ohio-748 shrine road,springfield,ohio 45504..the name his wife is aikaterini christou....i have a paper from comunity Clark by David D. Mattes and thi paper say for some woman her name is EUGENIA LAGOU...who is she???? i want to learn about her...what's happen to my grandfather..i want to know about him because he was my grandfather and i dont know nothing for him...please if someone knows somethin,please tell me....my mail is rein1966@otenet.gr.....

My mother's birth name was Patricia Ann Lagos, she was born in Detroit Michigan at Providence Hospital in 1938 on September 6 and baptised the following day.The delivering doctor might have been Frank Rizzo. She was given up for adoption. Birth mothers name was Pauline Lagos and birth father's name was Joe Marino. My mother has been searching for 30 years for her birth mother. Her name is Leona Davila and lives in San Marcos California.Please reply even if this is not you. Thank you,

that's interesting. I'm pretty sure it comes from Portugal and that whole peninsula. Aztecs didnt know that lagos meant lake until the Europeans came.

Eugenia Papas Lagos was born 23 Dec 1917 and died 26 Nov 2005 and born in Sidney, OH. Her father was James (Demetrios) George Papas (Papathanassiou) and born in Lafka, Corinth, Greece and died in 1962. Her mother was Lillian (Ligeri) Sarros Papas and born in Kosma, Kynourias, Greece and died in 1965. Both of these villages are in the Peloponnesian Peninsula which is in the southern most part of Greece.

Eugenia married Harry (Anargeros) Thomas Lagos on 31 Aug 1947. This was after he returned from combat in North Africa and Europe in World War II. They were married for 54 years prior to his passing on 18 May 2002.

Two sons, Thomas Harry and wife Matina Kyrios Lagos and James Harry and Nike Daphne Pavlatos Lagos. One daughter Litsa Lagos Press of Northbrook, IL. Eugenia is survived by her brother and sister-in-law George and Betty Papas of Tampa, FL.

It's an amazing wealth of info for an obit. She must have truly been loved.

I was always told by my family that LAGOS was a greek name. I am puzzled because Lagos is a city in Niger Africa, and everything on here seems to be Spanish

Alex C. Lagos

1919-2003

Alex C. Lagos, 84, of Cheyenne, died Nov. 9 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Hartville. He was a supervisor of financial records and
audit at F.E. Warren Air Force Base and other government positions. He resigned from
his job to care for his parents.

He was a sports enthusiast and an avid University of Wyoming fan.

Mr. Lagos was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.

He is survived by five brothers, William C. Lagos of Denver, Nick C. Lagos of
Wheatland, John C. Lagos of Cheyenne, Pete c. Lagos of Martinez, Calif., and James
C. Lagos if Grenada Hills, Calif.; a sister, Angie White of Cheyenne; and numerous
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gust J. and Georgia Lagos; and a sister, Cal
Terovolas.

Trisagion service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Schrader Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox
Church with the Revs. Gabriel Nicholas, Peter Harrison and the Rev. Dr. Dean P.
Talagan officiating.

Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery.

Friends may contribute to a charity of choice.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Lagos.

Mary G. Lagos, 81, of Concord, died Thursday at her home. She was born in East Boston, Mass., the daughter of the late Hugh and Gertrude (Gould) Ahern. She attended the Horace Mann School for the Deaf. She lived in the Concord area since 1950 and was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Concord. She is survived by a son, George Lagos of Bow; three grandchildren; one brother, Paul Ahern of Carver, Mass.; three sisters, Theresa Harrison of Pembroke, Mass., Helen Benotti of Needham, Mass., and Marion Brundige of West Roxbury, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. Her husband of 35 years, Peter Lagos, died in 1981, and a brother, Hugh Ahern, died in 1997. Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 S. Main St., Concord. Burial will follow in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord. The family suggests that donations in her memory be made to the CRVNA, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797.

My mothers maiden name is Lagos, and we are from Chile. My grandfather was Eduardo Lagos, and was the presenter of the World Soccer Cup at the World Cup in Chile in 1962. The Lagos family is strong and healthy in Chile and Argentina.

Do you have any addt'l info on Joe Marino - approximate age, occupation, etc.? Possible he was married? My grandfather was named Joe Marino and lived in Detroit. In 1938 he would have been approximately 33 years old - he was a factory worker.

I understand from My family resources about my father who was born in Vera Cruz ,Mexico and a decendant ancient Aztecs who lived in Vera Cruz . The name Lagos' refer to a Great lake which they believed at the time was the Gulf of Mexico.
