James, my gg grandfather, married Elizabeth (?) and died while driving his train at Stella Gill on 18 Dec 1879.

They had 7 children:

Mary J b. circa 1864
Elizabeth b. circa 1866
Alice b. circa 1869
George b. circa 1874 and
Sarah b. 4 Feb 1878

My ggrandfather was borne 1861 in Durham England. He married Elizabeth Johnson b.1861 and they had: Jane Ann, Robert, Thomas Johnson(my mother,s father), John, Margaret Laidlers. He had married another time a Mrs Kizer(dont know anything more) and moved to Canada in 1904 or 1905 to live in Ontario.

George Laidler in 1861 census was 2 months old, born in Doddington, Northumberland. His father was John Laidler b. Wooller about 1829/30. youngest of 5 siblings.In 1891 census of Gateshead he was 30 and a coal miner. He lived with his wife, Elizabeth and 4 children Jane, George, John and Thomas.

Thomas Laidler was born in 1889 in South Shields. He was one of five brothers. His family owned the Tyneside Glassworks making all types of glass including chandeliers.In 1912 he sailed in the company of the Firmstone Family for Australia and worked in the Wollongong area for some time before moving to the Newcastle (Australia)area. In 1915 he enlisted in the Australian Army and fought in France. In 1919 he married Mary Hannah Johnson of Whylam and migrated with her to Australia where he worked as a coal miner, finishing up at Pilaw Main near Kurri Kurri. He and his wife had one child Frederick born in 1921. They retired to Belmont on Lake Macquarie. Mary died in 1968 and he died in 1974.

Hello, I'm trying to trace some of my family and wonder if anyone can help.

My grandfather was JAMES HENRY LAIDLER, born in Seaham Harbour, 1880, who married Margaret W HOGG, and died in Newcastle upon Tyne in1952.

He was one of a number of children - ROBERT 1877, MARGERY JANE 1874-1886, ISABELLA GRAY, 1870, ELIZABETH A 1869, all born in the Murton/Seaham area of County Durham to ROBERT, 1831 ISABELLA ( formerly LITTLE, nee GIBBS) 1841 who were both from Chirton, Percy Main, Northumberland.

ROBERT LAIDLER, born 1831, emigrated to Australia in 1856 with his brothers WILLIAM, 1827-1905 and JAMES G, 1834-1913. He returned to the UK but his brothers remained in Australia.

The father of these three brothers was JAMES LAIDLER, 1801/7 - 1880, from Northumberland who in 1826 married ISABELLA GRAY.

I'd be most grateful for any information concerning the ancestors and decendants of any of the above named.

Seeking further info about James LAIDLER (born c 1801 in Whitby), who marr Jane DONKIN (b 1803 in Fylingdales) in Whitby 18th Jun 1827. Son James b 2nd Aug 1829 in Whitby and daughter Elizabeth b 25 Jul 1835 in Middlesbrough; she married George MILLER. This James was a carpenter at the time of his marriage, then a seaman - lived in Middlesbrough. Interested to know of other siblings of James and Elizabeth. Recently found the family of James LAIDLER, wife Isabella (GRAY) and children William, Robert and James in the 1841 census in Northumberland. Details: HO107/825 They are in Chirton, Northumberland, living in Pit Row - Borough of Tynemouth, Township of Chirton. The surname in this census return is spelled LADLER and the family members are split over two pages. Ages given are James 34, Isabella 38, William 14, Robert 11 at the bottom of the first page, then James - aged 7 and another son Thomas - aged 2 are the top of the next page. The three brothers William (with wife Margaret Lamb), Robert and James arrived in Australia in 1856 aboard the ship the 'British Trident'. Robert Laidler later returned to England - see previous postings by David Laidler for further info about Robert. The LAMB family - William married Margaret Lamb, are in Durham, in East Murton in 1841 census; HO107/311. Family comprises William 41, Mary 35, Joseph 20, Francine 19, Ann 15, Jane 15, Margaret 12, Elizabeth 10, Mary 8, William 5, Moses 2. Alice Emma Laidler (my husbands late grandmother) was born 1 September 1900 Belford. Siblings were Adam, Jack, Walter, Mary, Margaret, Eleanor and Wilhelmina born around Belford area.
There parents were Andrew Mattison Laidler born (19 January 1862 Ellingham) and Ann Chrisp. Andrew's siblings -

My mother was adopted; however, Josephine Laidler was her natural mother. She is from Wichita Falls area, but her sister (Earnestine Laidler Van Winkle) told me that Josephine moved to California in the late 1930's. My mom was born in 1934. My ggrandfather was Matthew Laidler (b1862).
