Hi Debbie!

Here is what we've got:

Frank LaJoie & (wife unknown). Pioneer resident of Tacoma, died there while visiting family. Member of St, Mary's Catholic Church. I imagine he was born sometime around 1860 or so.

Their Children:
1.)Arthur LaJoie
2.)Florence LaJoie Lunbell (married unknown Lunbell)
3.) David LaJoie
4.) Flora LaJoie Vandul (married Unknown Vandul)
5.)George Joseph LaJoie (married Elizabeth Houghton B 1889 D 1954. George - B 1879, D 1944

George Joseph LaJoie & Elizabeth Houghton Lajoie's Children:
1.) Clarence "Nap" Albert Lajoie (married Signe Seholm)B 1909, D 1988
2.) Hellen Elizabeth (died at birth, 1919)

All of these were located in Washington State. However, we believe that Frank migrated to Washington from back east. Also, we are trying to figure out if Frank's full name was Francoise or what. We got a lead from someone researching the same line that shows Frank (Francoise) as Napoleon Lajoie's cousin - son of Jean Baptiste's brother Francois Lajoie-Adnin. However, we haven't been able to find anything proving that for sure.

Any help you can give will help us GREATLY. BTW, how is your family related?

Thanks!
Alicia
ALajoie@vanguard.edu

How do I contact Linda, whose message is below? I believe that we are first cousins, as the lineage that she describes is my own, right down to Lillian and Aime Coache as my own parents (now deceased). Every name and place in her description is familiar to me. I realize that her post is eleven years old, but I do hope we can connect and compare more of our common ancestry. (One thing, though, Irene, who was Alphonse and Anna Joyal 2nd child died when she was eleven years old.) I hope Linda will email me so that we may correspond. Laurette Lajoie

I would be really interested to see information from the book that you talked about. I always wondered about the Indian connection. Was always told that we had some Indian blood in us, but I have never found any connection. Wonder if your Indian blood comes down my line. I have an astigmatism, but I don't think it is that bad!

Hi saw your post on ancestry boards and have a little information to share. My father Anthony Lashua(1906-1981) was an oral history buff so not much got written down. 1st Lashua is a bastardization of Lajoie. Those crossing the border to the US didn't have to come through Ellis Island to acquire a name change;-].

According to Anthony the family started in Black Lake Canada and spread from there to Trois-Rivières and then south to NH,MA,NY, and RI. I'm trying to find a copy, but back in the 70's one of the family put together a book with family stories Lashua, Lucius, and Blake. If I find it I will share.

Oh the native american stories are true it was the Blackfoot tribe, I was always told that my great great grandfather was Blackfoot and I have genetic proof the only people to have an astigmatism of grater than 180 degrees are related to western indian tribes like the Blackfoot and yes I have this problem with my sight.
I am from Massachuesetts , visiting Montreal now 7/13/09.

my family is buried in Notre Dame Cemetary in Worcester. Grandfather Joseph W. Lajoie ,born 1871 ; his wife Esmeralda Bousquet, born 1873 . Joseph Lajoie, his father born 1840 ; his wife Edmire Vein(Vien) born 1844 . They are buried in the St. Anthony section @ Norte Dame . Incidentally my family is related to Nap Lajoie the baseball pitcher who is in the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Last time I was there a large portait of him was hanging in a stair/way larger than life.embers of their family. Obviously related .

Other names on one of the large family monuments are AUGER / LAROCHE / and PERREAULT along with members of their family. Obviously related .

Here for a few more days . According to a cousin we living relatives here in Montreal ; unable to get in contact with him as is in Switzerland and not responding to my e-mail .

I just found your message. I am the granddaughter of Ernie LaJoie who was, indeed, a judge in Detroit. I have a lot of disorganized information on the LaJoies. I see someone informed you of the parents of the Homer et al on your list. I assume that you realize that most of the names you have were spelled incorrectly when transcribed from the original census. I'd love to share some info but would prefer to do it via email rather than this message board.
Kate LaJoie
kateindy@prodigy.net

What state were they from? Were they ever in Canada? Did they ever use the name Lovejoy? My family were in New England, and Ct. Somehow ended up in Canada where Ransom was born in 1799-1800. Mother was Anna, father Moses, I think. Let me know if this is familiar.

The relative of yours would be much later than mine. Seems sad she had 7 children and then died at 37. Patsy

I am so excited about this. My line came from early Mass, ct, Maine and Canada. The Rhode Island Lovejoys that we have are named Ransom Dunn Lovejoy and one ther with Ransom that I can't remember right now.

My ggf Ransom Lovejoy was born in Elizabethtown,Leeds and Grenville, Canada. This is Brockville at the present day.
Earlier in my research I was intrigued with Lajoie, but there weren't many sites I could use in Canada.

Now there are quite a few. The other day I saw a Ransom Lajoie in the messages.

My line is much earlier than yours. Their names were Ransom, Moses, Nathan, and Roseana.

How early were your Lajoies in Canada--and where.
When did they come to the U.S. I think my Lovejoys were in Canada in about the 1700's. Seems they were in Quebec for some time. They eventually returned to the U.S. in about 1814--went to Ogdensburg, New York.

Give me any clues you can and I will see what I can find that might give us some commection.
Thank you so much Patsy

Hi! Patsy
I believe my Lajoie family has roots in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and possibly Maine. Who are the Lajoies in your family? My great grandmother was Rose Lajoie. I believe she was born 1896. She had 7 children and died at the age of 37. The children were young so to get a story or any information out of them was a task. Please, if you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it. Debbie

I am looking for Ike Lajoie. He had something to do with boats in the UP of Michigan. Possibly Sault Ste. Marie and Mackinac City. I know that my father was on Beaver Island and talked to a Captain there who said he knew of Ike Lajoie. I believe he may of been an uncle. I come from the Pacquin/Clarke familys.
