Hello Lisa!! My name is Debra. Michael is also my great great grandfather. I've been trying to go further back in the Lallier (Lalleyer) family to Michaels parents and siblings, but haven't gotten anywhere with it. His wife Elizabeth Grubb has quite a traceable history. Please let me know if you've had any luck. Thanks!

Hello all, I'm searching for family members and I've been trying to follow my family name, Lallier, but I've gotten stuck at Michael Lallier b. 1827 and wife Elizabeth (Grubb) in Canada. Would anyone be able to expand to his parents, siblings and beyond?

Thank you. Any information or direction is much appreciated.

The first Dandurand { Antoine } to come to Canada from (Nouvelle France) in 1693. He did come from a Parish in the city of Paris and came typically as a soldier. He landed on a small island near Québec City called Île d'Orléan. He married a local girl, served his military assignment and was given a parcel of land to cultivate. That parcel of land is on the south shore of the St-Lawrence river. He had a number of children. We found out that the name change occurred when two of his sons feuded to the point that one changed his name to Marcheterre and move down the St-Lawrence river to a town name Rimouski. The rest of the Dandurand clan gradually drifted in the other direction and mostly settle in Montréal. Part of the family branched off and moved to Grand Isle, Vt. It seem that the name Dandurand dit Marcheterre was used there. Owing to large families and healthy living the family has covered most of this continent.

Re: Emma Lallier

Hello. Trying to see if your Emil Tuenge is the Emil Tuenge that I'm trying to gain more info on. The dates and children, spouse etc look the same, and Emil I have in tree/family pictures was supposedly "adopted" by my great great grandparents August and Augusta Tuenge. I do not know at this time his birth parents, which I'm trying to figure out, he shows up in a couple of family pictures as a child and is on census sheets in MN. I only know from my grandparents and later same type of story from a great aunt only that there was 'something' the family in that generation "did not talk about" etc, so maybe...relative or out of wedlock or something not fully disclosed. This Emil was born in Germany in 1884 so thus I don't think his birth parents would have been born in USA. My great great grandparents came to US and settled in Minnesota about 1889 or 1890 - settled in West Newton, New Ulm area. He stays on the census info until after father August died (who is buried between New Ulm and Fairfax rural cemetery) then moved to Pine/Danforth area with mother, (adopted) brother Richard & family. He is listed as a son on great great grandmothers (Augusta Tuenge) obit info (she was apparently living with him and family at that time and died in Pine County), but not as a 'brother' on couple of adopted siblings obits later. So if by chance he's the same and you have the birth parents info, that would be great - I'd love to be contacted or share any info later too.

I have quite a bit of information on Lallier-dit-Marcheterre. There was a geneology done in the early sixty's that traces the family back to the 15th century in France. I think it goes back to 1432. I have a copy of this research.

Actually, the information regarding Sara McDonald that was given to me was incorrect. Louis Lallier's wife's name was Lumina Lafontaine. Apparently Minee is a familiar form of Lumina. If anyone has any information on this individual, please let me know. The 1881 Canadian census has her down as 36 years old.

He lived in Waterbury CT in the early 1900's. My grandfather is Earl Lallier (I don't know yet if there is a realation, working on another part of the family), and I came across that name (Moise) in one of the city guides or maybe it was a census. It was definately between 1900 and 1910. Email if you want more info and I'll dig it up.

Dear Elizabeth,

Received your e-mail re: Peter, Joseph, and Pierre L'Allier, in that order. It is possible that Pierre L'Allier, your great-great-grandfather was son born to Jerome L'Allier (b.18260 and Adeline Celina Charbonneau. They were married in 1852 in St. Augustin and it appears that Pierre L'Allier was the first son born, fitting your time frame. Adeline Celina were of St. Jerome., Terrebonne, Quebec...like many of the L'Allier's.
Pierre L'Allier was 2nd son to Jerome L'Allier de Marcheterre and Marie Theotiste Beneche dit LaVictoire. Marie Theotiste died in 1875 and Jerome L'Allier de Marcheterre (the first of these) remarried Esther Charbonneau 9possibly related to Adeline who was married to Jerome (the second). It is possible that they too had a son named Pierre.

you can contact the National Library in Quebec City...will try to recover how...to check both lines of decent. Cost is about $2.00 per .5 hour. hope this helps. May be Denise L'ALLIER-Pray can help.

Yours in the family of L'Allier

Louis

Peter Lallier was born 10/12/1903 and Married Delia Youngs in 1926 (she died 1936 leaving 2 daughters-one my biological mother) Peter is buried in St. Josephs cemetary in Boonville NY ...Peter's parents are Joseph Lallier and Elva Smith . We believe Joseph was born in 1880 in Quebec and his Father (head of household was Pierre Lallier)...the census place is Ste-Jerome, Terrebonne, Quebec....my French is very little and limited......I also have a Peter Lallier born 1803 (g-g-grandfather maybe father of Joseph born in France ended up in same county of Lewis , NY)....so my great grandfather is Joseph from Quebec listed as French Canadian.......I was left at a hospital in 1956...in St. LAwrence County NY...would just like to know why my sons are so handsome.....thank you for the information...

Michel,

I find it interesting that you have not heard of any other Lallier line. This gives me great hope that perhaps I may be able to connect my Lallier line back to France.

My great-great-great-grandfather was Louis Lallier. He married a woman named Sara/Sarah McDonald/MacDonald. I do not have any more information on him. I do know, however, that they had a daughter named Louise born on 23 February of 1865 or 1866 in Lourdes, Québec, Canada.

I would be interested to know if you have any idea how this line could be connected to the main Lallier line.

Onésime was born on June 20 1849 at St-Pierre-les-Becquets. I dont have any child for Onésime and Marie Cantin. I would be interessed to any information about them.
The Lallier-dit-Marcheterre family arrive in Canada in 1750. They came from Rivarennes, province of Berry, France. The name dit-Marcheterre appeared after the arrival in Canada. The first Lallier in Canada was Denir Lallier. His son Jean married Marguerite Paquin. I have 14 children for Jean and Marguerite. I never heard of any other lignage for the Lallier family in Canada.
Do you have others informations about your grand-father Onésine.
