NEWARK: A funeral service for Jeannine Ann (Chism) Lamp, age 78, of Newark, Ohio will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Ray Meckley officiating.

Burial will take place in Fairmount Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Jean passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at her home in Newark, Ohio with her family by her side.
Jean was born September 4, 1933 in Staunton, Virginia.
She attended Newark High School and in later years attended Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, Ohio where she took classes in digital media design.

Jean retired from Sears in Heath, Ohio where she worked as a salesperson for over thirty years.

She was a thespian with the Licking County Players, an artist, a poet and a nationally recognized songwriter for which she had received numerous awards for her contributions made in the country recording industry.

Most notably, she will be remembered in Newark for her clown character "Cracker Jack", which touched the lives of so many children in Licking County, Ohio.

Jean gave all that knew her the courage to accomplish anything one sets their minds to. She truly lived life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all.

She will forever be loved by her husband of 60 years, Ernest William Lamp; three sons, Michael, Gary and Mark Lamp; along with her two daughters, Connie Mae Richardson and Kimberly Lamp Foster; and her favorite nephew Brian Lamp.
She will also be remembered by her four grandchildren, Yvonne Schilling, Shauntae Little, and Lori and Kyle Lamp, along with their families; step-granddaughter, Susan Hitchcock; sister, Margie Macari of Shelbyville, Illinois; brothers and sisters, John, Cecilia, Margaret and Ruthie of Virginia and her brother and sisters from Newark, Jim, Kathie, Rita and Clara; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that donations be made to the Licking County Players, Inc., 131 West Main Street, Newark, OH 43055 so as to preserve the continuing art of community theatre.

Jean was born in Chicago and grew up in Mt. Lebanon and earned a degree in psychology from Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham College). She joined the Navy upon graduation and proudly served her country, commissioned as a lieutenant (j.g.) WAVE officer. She did psychological testing of Navy personnel returning to stateside hospitals during World War II. She was the daughter of the late Donald H. and Elsie (Robinson) Wyre; dear wife for 66 years of Clyde B. Lamp Jr., MD; and beloved mother of C. Benjamin Lamp III and Jere Wyre Lamp. Jean enjoyed wintering in Sarasota, Fla., every year and was a longtime member of the College Club of Pittsburgh. Friends and relatives will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont, Services and interment will be private for the family. Denise!!! This is MY family. George Franklin Lamp is my Great Grandfather. His son, Gerald Franklin Lamp is my Grandfather. Aunt Thelma Lincoln used to live on Garfield in Phoenix. I used to play in her back yard as a girl. I loved her dearly. She passed away in 1989ish. I'm not positive on the year. Uncle Don passed away in February of 2006. I was at his funeral in Prescott, AZ. I am in regular contact with his son, Derrick. At present I'm trying to get hold of Aunt Betty, the last living child of George and Odessa. I'm so excited to make your acquaintance!

Susannah Lamp & Isham Hanie (Haney) in Georgia

I'm trying to find information about a Susannah Lamp born about 1826, who married Isham Hanie (or Haney), born about 1816 in Georgia. They had 3 children I know of, Jane, John, and Louisiana Virginia. Louisiana Haney is my great-grandmother, who married Daniel J. Cannon.

Based on a 1900 census record, I have reason to believe that Susannah had a brother named Henry Lamp, born in 1829. Henry may have married an Elizabeth.

My great Grandfather John August Lamp, was married to Rosinia Fewkes in Tasmania. He was born in 1863. Family story is he was born in Germany, mother died father married a second time and John didnt get on with new wife and stowed away on a ship for Australia when he was 13 or 14, became cabin boy and then jumped ship in Hobart. But this possibly was Johns father and John was born in Tasmania. However I can't find any records for his birth anywhere in Australia. Can anyone help me find out more.

Russell Leonard 'Jim' Lamp, 84, of rural Letts, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at his home.

Casketbearers will be James Steele, Garth Murry, Ed Smith, Steve Bryant, Skip Morrison, Kevin Wilson, Russell Lamp and Bradley Lamp. Honorary Casketbearers will be Charles Morrison, James Coder and Richard Turner. Burial will be in the Letts Cemetery.

Russell Leonard Lamp was born on January 9, 1923, in West Liberty, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Frances (Krotz) Lamp.

He attended rural schools in the West Liberty area and graduated from West Liberty High School in 1941. Russell played football during his high school years and was an avid football fan all his life.

On September 23, 1944 he was united in marriage to Delores Smith in Muscatine, Iowa. Russell and Delores farmed side by side during their marriage, until retiring in 2005.

During earlier years, he did electrical work with Marvin Coder in the Letts, Cranston, and surrounding areas. He also did custom combining for many farmers. Many times he would help neighbors who had furnace or electrical problems during the day or in the middle of the night.

Russell enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, and collecting and working on Farmall tractors. Most of all, he enjoyed taking care of his family and loved them dearly.

Russell will be deeply missed by his wife, Delores Lamp of rural Letts; three children, Jerry Lamp and wife, Marcia of Letts, Sally Trimpe and husband , Ken of Solon and Tom Lamp of Lance Creek, Wyoming; three grandsons, Bradley Lamp of Iowa City, Russell Lamp and wife, Heather of Letts and Ben Lamp of Lance Creek, Wyoming; two great-granddaughters, Lydia Lynnette and Emma Rae Lamp of Letts; one sister, Rosemary Bryant and her husband, Robert of Muscatine; one brother-in-law, Neale Longstreth of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; two sisters-in-law; Jan Lamp of Eliza, Illinois and Marjana Lamp of Iowa City; and special friends, Skip Morrison, Jim and Kitty Steele and Charles and Carlene Morrison.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Pat and Mike Lamp; and three sisters, Wilma Lamp, Betty Longstreth and Kathleen Cockerill.

Clarence V. Lamp, 85, Muscatine, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Unity Hospital.

The Rev. Nancy Hoelter will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Bev Reuter and vocalist Henry Bentley. Casket bearers are Matt Vaupel, Jason Lamp, Sarah Sturgeon, Becky Daley, Amy Apariso, Lori Klemp, Josh Lamp, Carrie Lamp, Adili Shay and Craig Lamp. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery, Durant.

Mr. Lamp was born May 5, 1920, in Durant, the son of Henry and Frieda Beck Lamp. He married Evelyn M. Esbaum on Sept. 23, 1942, in Davenport.

He owned and operated Lamp Insurance and Real Estate in Muscatine from 1963-82. Previously, he had farmed in Scott County near Durant.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Muscatine, and the Muscatine Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and golf. He and his wife had wintered in Fort Meyers, Fla. for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carole Vaupel and husband Michael of Muscatine; three sons, Ronald Lamp and wife Connie of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jerald Lamp and wife Diane of Atlanta, Ga., and David Lamp and wife Sally of New Glarius, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Orville in 1962 and Kenneth in 1996.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Gale 'Pat' Lamp, 76, of Muscatine, died suddenly, Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Unity Hospital.

Funeral Service will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Rev. Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Kevin Wilson, Jerry Lamp, Russ Lamp, Steve Bryant, Ron Bryant, Terry Hamer, Robert Hamer, and John Cockerill. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Combined Squads of the American Legion Post 27 and the V.F.W. Post 1565.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. .

Pat was born on March 17, 1929, in West Liberty, the son of Joseph and Frances Krotz Lamp. He married Marjana S. Smith on January 30, 1954, in Iowa City.

He served in the US Army from 1951 until 1953. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal. He was wounded during the service but never received a purple heart.

He worked for Lamp-Rehwaldt for over 12 years, he then owned and operated Pat's Repair Service. He and Marjana moved to Arizona in 1979 until their retirement in 1997, when they moved back to Muscatine.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge No.388 for 35 years and a 33 year member of the Elks Lodge No. 304.

Pat loved fishing, playing cards, woodworking and his daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Marjana Lamp of Muscatine, two daughters, Karen Lamp and Bill Ciaccio, of New York, New York, and Marcia Fletcher and husband, Gary, of Muscatine; one brother, Russell Lamp and wife, Delores, of Letts, one sister, Rosemary Bryant and husband, Bob, of Muscatine; and one sister-in-law, Jan Lamp of New Boston, Illinois.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Wilma, Betty and Kathleen and one brother, Leland.

Mrs. Lamp was born on Sept. 24, 1918, in Muscatine, the daughter of George and Viola Lydia Broadstone Payne. She married Orville H. Lamp on Nov. 30, 1939, in Muscatine.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was a former Eastern Star member.

She worked at Rosa's Style Shop, Barton's and Fashion Boutique.

Survivors include one son, Michael J. Lamp and his wife, Carla, of Muscatine; three daughters, Lana J. Bartenhagen and her husband, John, of Muscatine, Kathy J. Lamp of Muscatine, and Vikki J. Curry and her husband, Terry, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Florence Naber of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband in 1961.

Don Lamp is my father. He is not the son of Raymond Lamp and Margaret Jenkins. He IS the son of Raymond Lamp and Betty Lou Stevens. He had no children with Margaret or Elizabeth. He had Raymond Jr. with Julie Webb. The others were from his marriage to my grandmother Betty Lou.

I have a copy of the 1815 deed of George Lamp and Elizabeth his wife. No where in the text does is say Elizabeth was
an Indian. Elizabeth had a dower right to her husband's property and had to give consent to the sale. Both George and Elizabeth made their mark "X". In VA as early as 1787 it was an absolute prohibition for a "white person" marrying other that another "white person" until Loving ET UX. v. Virginia Supreme Court of the United States, June 12, 1967, Decided. Chief Justice Warren's delivered the opinion of the Court the anti-miscegenation laws unconstitutional.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Leland J. 'Mike' Lamp, 67, of Muscatine, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Unity Hospital.

Services will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Darryl Erickson of the Grandview Community Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Steve Bryant, Ronald Bryant, Jerry Lamp, Tom Hammer, Steve Hyink, and Steve Hammer. Honorary pallbearers will be Berry Bryant, Harvey Roswell and Robert Bryant. Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery.

Mr. Lamp was born on June 20, 1933, in West Liberty, the son of Joseph and Frances Krotz Lamp. He married Jan Kannada on July 28, 1956 in Wilton.

Mike loved to fish and play pool. He owned Leland Lamp 'Mike's' Machine Shop from 1973 until the time of his death, semi-retiring in 1995.

Hi,

William Lamp (1884-1971), my grandfather, was married to Maude Blanche Ferree (1881-1941) and his parents were John Lamp (1856-1915)and Virginia Rickey(1855-1941).

John Lamp had a brother George (1855-1880), so I don't think this is the same connection. I searched for Garret Lamp and he doesn't appear on my tree.

Hi Beth Ann, thank you for replying to my query, believe it or not I know you, I am your Dad George's cousin, we lived next door to one another all our lives (on Hancock Street, in Keansburg), we always called your Dad Snoozer. Your grandfather John Herbert, we called him Uncle Herby and my Dad were brothers. Sad to say, the last time I saw you was at your Dad's funeral, I met your brother William there also, your Mom Claire I knew since your Dad and Mom started dating. My name is Joanne, ask you Mom, I believe she will remember me, or as least I hope she will. I have a few pictures of your Dad and me when we were little kids, and his high school graduation picture. I have seen your Uncle John, or Buddy as we use to called him since the funeral also, I see Donald quite a bit, every couple of months or so, he drives by here a lot, or I go down to his house and see him. You grandmother maiden name was Loretta Bender, wish you could have met her, she was a very great and gracious lady. I have heard of many of these people through elders in the family. I am the granddaughter of Herbert Lamp who died in 1990. His children are John Lamp, NJ, Donald Lamp, NJ and George Lamp, my father who passed away in 1991. My grandfather was married to Loretta Lamp. If any of this makes sense to you please reply. my grandparents (Job) were from Franzfeld, Russia and came through Ellis Iland on 11/21/1899. I know they lived in ND for awhile.

Hi Steve, I got that death certificate from www.wvculture.org. I hope when I go up home again I can go to the cemetery in Spencer and see who all is buried there. I know a lot of Lamps lived near there. Are you related to Arce, Jessy and Glen Lamp? They live in Belpre OH.....Carole

I found on wv culture the marriage certificate for Arce and Jessy. That would be positive documentation. I am still trudging along with this family. I found a pic recently in my moms stuff that looks like Arce and Jessy holding their son. I will hopefully get this identified in the near future.
