Beth, Thanks for your reply. The William Landes I am searching for would have been born about the mid 1700s. All those you mentioned were born much later. I have learned nothing more about this family beyond following the life of his daughter Elizabeth who married John Willard most probably in Tennessee soon after 1800. To date we have identified nearly 8000 descendants of this family who lived in Tenn., Texas, Georgia, Kansas, Okla, and Calif.
Do you know if the Landes family participates in a YDNA project? Perhaps this might unravel some of the mysteries.

Is there a connection to Jacob Landes (Lander) (aprox. 1740-1811) from Hampshire County in the 1782 census?
My line is through Samuel Landes, son of Felix Landes, son of Jacob Landes. I don't have much detail on any of them and I've hit a wall at Jacob.

Lyndon Landes

Hopefully this doesn't confuse things....
I have a Catherine Landes that married Joseph Weaver. She would be my 4th Great Grand Aunt. My line is directly through her brother Samuel (1820-1895). This Catherine and her brother Samuel's parents were Felix and Elizabeth (Garver) Landes.

Does any of this fit with what you are looking for? I've hit a wall with Felix's father Jacob.

Lyndon Landes

Hi, I don't have a gedcom. Is there another way? I've been searching recently and there are different Landes/Shipes that fit. It's frustrating.

Right now, I have Frances' father as Franklin Morris Landes and her mother as Martha Boyers. Their children;
Paul Franklin
Orville C.
Frances
Clarence E.
William R.
Carrie V.
Evelyn W.

Is this correct? I found a military record that could be for Franklin Morris Landes, but it lists his wife as Martha Bowman.

I have Franklin Morris Landes' father as Levi J. and mother as Maggie F. That's all I have on them, other than childre;
Robert S.
Jesse C.
Odie
Gornney E.
Marian R.
& Franklin Morris

Again, I don't know if I'm heading in the right direction or not!!

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

Thanks!
Francie

William Landes

I am trying to learn more about the William Landes family that resided in Wilson Co. Tennessee in 1806 and 1807. He may have lived in this area longer but tax rolls are missing for years following 1807. There is no record of his having lived in Wilson Co. beyond this date. He was purported to have lived in North Carolina and to have been of German descent. His daughter, Mary Elizabeth Landes, married John Willard. John was born abt. 1778 in Virginia but we think his wife, Elizabeth, to have been much younger than he. She died in Wilson Co. TN. in 1836. There were 13 children born to this marriage according to the biography of their son, John Nelson Willard. Does anyone know for certain about this particular Landes family.

I've looked at records of the Granville Co. NC Landes/Landis/Landiss families that moved to or through Bedford Co. TN. Was, perhaps, this William Landes part of that family line? Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide in this search.

This lineage of Christian LANDES and Barbara STRICKLER is incorrect.

Christian and Barbara's son, John LANDES, Sr.was born about 1752 in Windsor, York County, PA and married Catherine MILLER abt. 1770. He died in Windsor, York County, PA. I descend through John and Catherine's son, John, Jr. who married Frances BRENNEMAN 08 Jul 1800 in Rockingham County, VA. John and Frances were married by Rev. Benjamin Ervin.

John died in Greemcast;e. Putnam County, Indiana 04 Feb 1846. My line continues through John's son, Samuel LANDES who married Magdalena SIPLE and they migrated to Decatur County, Iowa.
