Hi My name is Maria and I am looking to connect with Langridge's everywhere. I lost my husband Richard James Langridge on the 14th July 2001. At only 52 years of age. And I must say I am lost to death without him. I am at this present moment in time researching Reincarnation and am also writing a book on the subject. Some people think I'm crazy to do this. But I think what the heck. Let them think what they like. I am enclosing my address and telephone number as I am not too good on the computor as yet. And do like to receive snail mail also ocassionally. I don't know about you. Mrs Maria Teresa Langridge,
31,Harkwood Court,
Manton Road,
Hamworthy,
Poole Dorset,
England,Bh15 4PL.

Tel no:- 01202-675443.

Hi Jann,

Nice to hear from you, I see you escaped the Tassie cold weather also..!

I'm looking for actual records like photos, stories, certificates of Leonard Langridge and his father William and his father William from England and which part he is from.. I have found them on ancestry.com but it can sometimes be inaccurate because you rely mainly on other peoples work in their own family tree. Once you get to the convict/immigrant level the information becomes scarce.

Interestingly, on the Hilda Rogers side I have gone back as far as 11th century England.

Any info or people you may know that have done work on the family tree please let me know.

Regards
Ben

Hi Ben
I'm Steven Langridge's cousin Jann (McLoughlin) I live in Ashmore. My mother was Jean McLoughlin nee Langridge - Maurice's sister. After looking at your photos I realised who you were. Your mother Wendy worked with my mother at another cousins hair salon in Hobart many years ago. I've been talking to another cousin today which prompted me to look at family history sites, and I came across your message just thought I'd contact you. I saw the photos of Dawn, Steve ans Wendy, (then the penny dropped).
Jann
Jann

Frederick Langridge b approx 1835 Wrotham, kent

I am seeking information on Frederick Langridge, details above, who married an Amy Agnes [unknown] b 1838 in Croydon, Surrey. They would have got married about 1855-1860 (if the did get married, that is), and they had a daughter Ann b approx 1861 in Croydon (for whom I can find no birth certificate with Fred and Amy as parents). I believe Fred and Amy are my great great grandparents; they lived in Croydon from before 1871, until their respective deaths in 1907 and 1905 resepctively. They were buried in Micham Road Cemetery, Croydon.

I have the above lady who married my ggg grandfather (Joseph Holloway Boulter) in Hastings 23 December 1832 (source - family bible). She was born in either Lewes (source - census) or Brighton (source - family bible). I have been unable to locate her on the IGI and have no access to primary sources at the moment. The family lived in Brighton in between 1835 and 1848 (births of children). Joseph was a chimney sweep and at one time they lived in Circus St, Brighton. By coincidence I came across a trade directory entry for the year 1855 of a John Langridge, 6 Circus St, Brighton, also a chimney sweep!
Does anyone recognize these two Langridges and are they related to one another?
Lynne

I am looking for any information on John Landgridge b. 1855 in Hever, Kent. Married Sarah Ann ? b. 1852. Children Edith Kate (1879), Amos Alfred (1885 - 1918), Ernest A.(1883), Arthur John(1882), Herbert W(1886), Jessie Luke (1888), George F. (1891), Frederic C (1894). The family lived in Snodland. Arthur John is my Great great grandfather. He emigrated to the South Island of New Zealand around 1904 with his wife Daisy Naomi ? and their 6 mth daughter Edith Rose. I am stuck with the maiden name of my great great grandmother and great great great grandmother. I think John had a brother Robert who also had a son Robert killed in WW1 along with Amos. Hope some of this info triggers something for someone. Thanks

Re: Langridge in Tasmania

Hello Ben,quite a surprise to receive a reply to such an old posting! My gt-grandmother was known in Tasmania as May Marion Howell (she was really Marion D'alton nee Howells; I never did find out what happened to her first husband John Dalton in Victoria, but she moved to Tas and changed the surname for herself and her children back to Howell, without the "s" this time). When she married James Laker Langridge (born c.1837)in Hobart on 9 Mar 1880,it was a second marriage for him too. James' first marriage to Elizabeth Adelaide Pegg at Oatlands Tas 1857 produced 8 children that I know of. William Henry is not listed among them by name, but the first-born is shown as an unnamed son, born 1858, and I believe this to be him. Going back another generation,I found an IGI record for the marriage of William Langridge to Mary Ann Laker on 6 Apr 1817 in St Bartholomew the Great Church,London, and I'm pretty sure they were James'parents/William Henry's grandparents. William Henry was witness to his father's marriage to May Marion, as was her daughter Marian Maud Howell (D'alton). William Henry (23) then married his new stepsister Marian Maud(21)aka Laurie Howell on 4 Feb 1882 at Oatlands, with their respective parents as witnesses. Nothing like keeping it in the family! Over the years Marian Maud was known variously as Laurie,Ellen,Helen,Nellie,Maud and possibly other names as well. She and William Henry had 9 children that I know of. Laurie died 7 Jun 1951 aged 91 in Hobart, and was buried as Maude Ellen Langridge. I don't know the details of William Henry's death, but you might find his burial record if you search Hobart's Southern Regional Cemetery Trust online. The Elsie Marian Langridge you mention might be Elsie Polly, wife of Percival Henry (aka Henry Percival) Langridge,b.1890,son of William Henry and Laurie. I don't know Elsie's maiden name and I believe there were no children of the marriage. If you have more questions or would like copies of marriage certificates, etc., I'm happy for you to email me direct at meryl_watson@hotmail.com. Bye! Meryl Watson

I don't remember my grandparents names off the top of my head, but maybe I could check it out and fill in the details, later. It's kind of neat to be seeing people with the same last name as my mom.

Langridge researchers.
I am frustratingly seeing the same mistake pertaining to John Langridge born 1774 of Fletching.
Many researchers are claiming that his wife Hannah was Hannah Everest born 1785 Hartfield who married a John Langridge in 1807.
"The Hannah that married John Langridge born 1774"
Hannah Langridge 1782 of Fletching remarried after the death of John in 1835 to a William Chapman, the subsequent census reports shows her Living and dying with her children from John Langridge.
On the Marriage certificate of Hannah Langridge to William Chapman in 1838, it shows her as a widow and her father as John Langridge a Lath Cleaver.
This Hannah was born 1782 Fletching and married to John Langridge 1774 of Fletching in 1798.
Hannah was a Langridge by birth, her father was John langridge, her husband was John Langridge, she had a son John langridge and guess what! She had a brother John as well.
Children of John and Hannah Langridge

•	Mary Ann: Daughter: Christening 1803: Source Citation: Place: Fletching, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1618 - 1878; Film Number: 1067170.
•	William: Son: Christening 1805: Entry from Uckfield Holy Cross 1752-1812.
•	George: Son: Christening 1808: Source Citation: Place: Fletching, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1618 - 1878; Film Number: 1067170
•	Martha: Daughter: Born 1st July 1810: Christening 22nd July: Source Citation: Place: Fletching, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1618 - 1878; Film Number: 1067170
•	Hannah: Daughter: Christening 1813: Source Citation: Place: Fletching, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1618 - 1878; Film Number: 1067170
•	John: Son: Christening 1815: Entry from Maresfield St Bartholomew 1813-1900
•	James: Son: Christening 1817: Source Citation: Place: Hartfield, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1813 - 1881; Film Number: 1067265
•	Thomas: Son: Christening 1819: Source Citation: Place: Hartfield, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1813 - 1881; Film Number: 1067265
•	Mark: Son: Christening 1821: Source Citation: Place: Hartfield, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1813 - 1881; Film Number: 1067265
•	Luke: Son Christening 1827: Source Citation: Place: Hartfield, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1813 - 1881; Film Number: 1067265
•	Matthew: Son: Christening 1829: Source Citation: Place: Hartfield, Sussex, England; Date Range: 1813 - 1881; Film Number: 1067265

The 1861 census shows Hannah Chapman 80 widow living with her son William Langridge in Westerham Kent
1871 census age 90 widow of a blacksmith living in Hartfield with her daughter Mary Ann Baker nee Langridge, whilst William Chapman’s trade was a Higgler John was a Blacksmith.
Her death certificate which I have a copy of shows Hannah Chapman died of Colic aged 96, present at her death was another daughter Martha Baker nee Langridge.
This calls into question research done going way back in the Langridge family tree by? As information given on this particular issue has been proven wrong, I’ll only go back as far as the early 1700s and not take others research without doing the leg work myself.
As a Langridge, evidence and facts are all important in my family tree, I know that if I had, or have it wrong I would want to know.
Dean Langridge
Hi Dean,

Well I never! I must admit that I've gained some amusement by telling my children that they have a Higgler in their family. Makes a pleasant change from Ag. Lab. I also have a "Cat's Meat Dealer" who plied his trade in Bethnal Green in the latter part of the 19th century. That took me by surprise as I first thought he sold the meat from cat's. I found plenty of Dog Meat Sellers but he seemed to have cornered the market on cats. It all came from the huge amount of dead horses that London produced each year.

Dave
