I'm not able to confirm the your line I'm afraid. If I were to guess, I think your Matthew died in Chorlton between JUL and SEP 1853 (UK BMD Vol 8c page 344). I dont have that death certificate, but if you have friends in the UK (or can afford the $50 to order it from overseas) they could get it for you. This should show the parents of Matthew and his age at death.

If your Matthew died about age 75 (ie born 1780) and had parents Matthew and Jane, then I can confirm the link.

regards

Todd

No problem.

I also re-read my first post, it should have read that the Matthew I think is yours is the only matthew "I dont have a wife and children for" NOT as I wrote "no parents for"...clearly I have whom I assume his parents are!

His death or marriage cert would be the clincher .

I *think* I have some details and a reasonable guess at Matthews parents :-

Matthew b 1752 m Jane BARSBY/BARZBY 14/FEB/1774, d>1794
Had child (one of 10), Matthew b 10/FEB/1780 - no other known details, but I suspect that its the same as your Matthew b 1791 (I assume you got this from Census, and I'm also assuming dates in census is off - as many are). Your Matthew is the only Matthew Langtry that I have no known parents for.

From online sources (including yours) I have :
YOUR Matthew m abt 1815 Ann unknown, had children :
Elizabeth b 1816 Scotland
Richard b 1821 Ireland, m abt 1849 Eliza Williams
Ann b 1827 England
Catalina b 1831 England

Richard and Eliza had children :-
Elizabeth, 1850, Lancashire
Margaret, 1852, Lancashire
Arthur Wellsly, 1858, Lancashire
Catalina "Lina" Ann, 1860, Lancashire
I found this fascinating, but still haven't been able to verify any truth to this, accept for the Langtry name on my mothers side... Would love to hear from anyone that may know more about the Langtry Family history.

Has anyone more info, on Thomas Sr. LANGTRY..b. Ireland,(possibly Captain Thomas Langtry) mar. to Mary A. (poss.Mary Ann nee Mulligan b. Ireland), who,s son, was Thomas Jr. Langtry (*on, 1851 cens. sp. LANTRY...verses LANGTRY), occup. yeoman..Ch. of Engl. mbr. 1851, where as his wife, Mary A.. rel. was W.Methodist, their ch. rel. was Ch.of Engl.... lvd, Caradoc twp., Middlesex Co.,Ont.Can. in 1851..and all their ch. were born Canada.(most probably b. Middlesex Co.Ont.Can.) Am assumeing, that Thomas Lantry/Langtry & his wife Mary A. (likely..Mary Ann Mulligan), children, were living, Caradoc Twp.Middlesex Co.Ont.Can. in 1851, and their children, with their parents, were all born Canada.STARTING with THOMAS LANTRY/LANGTRY Sr. born abt. 1800,IRELAND . Resided..mar. 1851,cens.Caradoc Twp.Middlesex Co.Ont.Can. wife, too Thomas, Mary (likely Mary Ann nee Mulligan.) born, abt. 1812, Ireland. THEY had, ..EIGHT..LANTRY/LANGTRY children, living with them, 1851 cens. (1)Mary ..b. abt. 1830, (2)Eliza, b. abt. 1832, (3)Thomas b. abt. 1834 who mar. Sarah Caroline GOSNELL..(this couple..researched by several fmly trees),(4)Jonathan b. abt. 1836 (*other cens. rec. imply Jonathan mar.a Catherine, and had a daughter Alice Lantry/Langtry.),(5) Henry b. abt. 1838, (6) Charity (*whom, I wonder..might not be the same individual named Charity Kingston LANGTRY, who married John Johnston..whom, 2 individuals have enquired about on message boards..),(7) Arthur, b. abt. 1841,(8)and last child,on 1851 cens...Albert Lantry/Langtry b. about 1845...I am curious to know.. if anyone has info..on CAPTAIN Thomas Langtry mar. too Mary Ann nee Mulligan..and if they think that the Thomas & Mary.. from Caradoc Twp. Middlesex Co.Ont.Can. 1851 cens. are one and the same..as well ..I have speculated that the Thomas Lantry/Langtry & Mary from the 1851 cens. Caradoc Twp.Middlesex Co.Ont.Can. with the daughter "CHARITY" Langtry..speculateing,she rep. Charity Kingston Langtry..who mar. John Johnston,Kent Co.Ont.Can. I,ve researched Thomas Jr. Lantry,b. abt. 1834, who mar. Sarah Caroline Gosnell, their son Joseph LANGTRY b. 1868 that mar. Cora/Cara/Petersen/Peterman,had a ch.Veulah May Langtry b. 1893, that mar.
Eliza Ann Langtry

I have two Eliza Ann Langtry - one born in 1853 with parents of William Langtry and Cathering B Arbuckle. The other was born in 1860 with parents of William Langtry and Sarah A Hamilton. This William is the son of the first William listed above.

The problem is that the first William is shown as having died in 1824. It is possible his wife to have had the Eliza Ann born in 1853 as she did not die until 1859. She would have been 60 when she had the last child.

Anybody got any info that will straight this out? It would appear that the two Eliza Ann's are the same person but the death info, spouse and children info are very different.
