My father had 4 brothers. Carmen and John DeAngelis were his 1/2 brothers from my Grandmother's fist marriage.
From her marriage to Tommaso (Thomas) Lanza they had 3 sons
my Dad-- Michael (on birth certificate Michele), Frank and Pat (Pasquale). All brothers were born between 1908 and 1917. All were born and lived in Boston, MA. All have passed away.

We may be related distantly but don't think your Tommaso Lanza and mine are one in the same.

Hi I know this might be a little late, but my grandfathers name was also Antonio, but he passed in the late 90's in Loiza, PR. His wife (my grandmother) passed away in the early 50's and he has 3 sons (on which is my father Miguel Lanzo) and 1 daughter. All born and raised in Loiza, PR. Lanzo background is they are all from Loiza, but slowly migrated outside of Loiza to different parts of PR, then eventually outside of Puerto Rico to the US.

HI There - I found your story rather interesting. My G-Grandfather is Tommosso Lanza (b.1890) and HIS father was Michele Lanza (b.1851) both born in Italy. I believe in the town of Camastra. Tommosso had several children, among them were a son named Michael and another named Frederick who is my Grand-father who is still alive. Does any off this sound familiar. Was your grandfather from Italian ancestry? You may be interested in the Ellis Island website. There are many people with the surname Lanzo that registered there in the 1800's. You guys have some interesting stories. Feel free to email me if any other questions. Ellis Island in New York had many imigrants from Italy come into there gates with the last name Lanzo. You can go to there website and look up these names. It'd be interesting to see if some of are related.

Port Henry — Ferdinand J. (Tiny) Lanzo, 76, of Stone Street, Port Henry, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, N.Y.

He was born Nov. 16, 1927, in Port Henry, the son of Benedetto and Lucrezia (D'Quisto) (Scorsome) Lanzo.

He retired from the International Paper Co. in Ticonderoga, N.Y., with 25 years of service. He was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. Tiny also loved to fish.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Connors) Lanzo; five children, Margaret and Kevin Frassrand, Mary and Kevin Mooney, Patricia and Thomas Newhall, Catherine and Bryan Taylor and Benjamin Lanzo and his fiancée Vicki Muscarella; 14 grandchildren; his brother, Nickolas Scoresome; several sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Port Henry. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Moriah.

Donations may be made in Tiny's memory to the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad.

Lanzo, Lanza ?? What is my last name??

Recently I obtained a copy of my father's birth certificate.
His name is listed on the cert as: Michele Lanzo. His father is listed as Tommaso Lanzo.

This was a big surprise as we have always gone by the last name of Lanza. My father's marriage certs are under Lanza, also.

Has anyone come across this? How do I determine my true last name. Father, grandfather, grandmother and all uncles are deceased.

My father's mother was (nee: Maria Matarazzo). She had a 1st marriage, last name was DeAngelis. Both grandparents came to Boston, MA from Italy in 1906 - Grandmother and 1910 - Grandfather.

Any direction anyone can lend on what my next step is would be appreciated.

Thank you for responding. My father was from Santurce and Carolina. The story as my mother tells is a very unfortunate one. My father's mother was from Spain, last name Figueroa and she had a child from my grandfather, last name Lanzot. In those times a white woman with a dark man was frowned upon so her family sent her to the US when my father was born. My grandfather kept my father but became ill and died of turbercolosis. Before he died he gave my father to a woman named Censa in PR who raised him as her own. When my father was 9 years old his mother also died and he saw her for the first time in her casket. In essence, my father really didn't know either of his parents.

Where are you from? Do you know where in Puerto Rico your Dad is from. My family is from Mayaguez and Arecibo. Currently, I reside in New Jersey. I really don't know much about them, but this web site is a great start. It's great to see others with what I thought was an uncommon name.

You certainly know a lot more than I do about my family. My father's name was George Lanzot and he too was from Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, I've never met anyone from his side of the family. I would love to learn more about the Lanzot family and perhaps meet with them.

Anne Mary Neveux, 90, of Concord, died yesterday at Pleasant View Center Genesis Eldercare. She was born in Boston, the daughter of Anthony and Margaret (Blasi) Lanzo. She worked in the mail room at Rumford Press in Concord for 31 years and was a promoter of Miraculous Metal for many years. Neveux was a member of St. Peter's Church and the Carmelite Guild. Survivors include two sons, Anthony Neveux of Concord and Robert Neveux of Goffstown; two daughters, Joanne Spaulding of Chichester and Nancy Hayes of Concord; a brother, Alphonse Lanzo of Concord; four sisters, Florence Marden and Rachel Higgins, both of Concord, Lucy Audette of Manchester and Frances Stasiack of Manchester, Conn.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Edward Neveux, died in 1985; and two sisters, Eleanor Lanzo and Celia Pinard, died previously. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 135 N. State St., Concord. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 275 Pleasant St., Concord 03301.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are. This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Neveux.

They my great grandfather Emilio had went to live with A family of Lanzo's with his mom when my great great grandfather had gotten in trouble with the law.
